you know, that ad before all of these videos starts out with "tired of scrounging youtube for math help?" or something, and thanks to patricjmt, no, actually, i'm not. youtube is working just fine.
OMG this dude is so awesome our teacher went over this stuff today! But he writes so fast no one can keep up and listen at the same time. I come youtube today and the first thing i see in the middle page is my subscriptions box. And what do i see? ASK ME, What do i see? I SEE MY MAN PATRICK (JMT) posting a video about absolute min/max. My man! This is why I tell everyone i talk to about math: "Ay you know Patrickjmt? Cus if you dont, you losing!"
you're a hero for this. my calc 3 professor never explains each step thoroughly and i was straight lost trying to understand how to find the boundaries. i wish more professors just took the time to go step by step instead of expecting us to pull the info from our asses lol
Patrick thank you so much for all your help! My friends and I all appreciate your videos, they are easy to follow and explain which steps to do in what order and why. I cannot thank you enough for all your help and I don't think I would have gotten an A in my math class without you :)
Okay...Actually my midterm is tomorrow and now I am going to preview this chapter...But nice and clear video! I still have a question though, so what if you have a higher order function, say, f(x,y) = 4*x*y - x^4 _ 2*y^2 and I solve for the critical points and got y - x^3 = 0 & x -y =0. So do I have to always make y-x^3 = x -y and solve for x and y? (this process is super time consuming....) Do you have any other way? Thx!
i don't know why but when he said "it doesn't get much better than this" at around 2:30, i just couldn't stop laughing. i need to take a break from the maths for a bit lol
If only I had this when I was going through the Abs Max and Min. How about a video on Cylindrical Coordinates? I tried to find one earlier and it seems you dont have any (even though Its Polar Coordinates with z added in). Im sure others besides myself would appreciate it.
setting those partials equal to zero and getting values for (x,y) as critical points in this problem was super easy.. unfortunately on my exams they much more complicated.. is there any algebra videos that explain how to find critical points with much more complicated partials derivatives to set as zero ??

Bro the same ad is still going on 9 YEARS LATER. it must have work well 😂
Thanks patrick math god, saving my marks since high school.
Aomine would have been in the zone to defeat math or he would have asked Midorima for help.

My math final is in 3 hours and this cleared everything up! thanks!
How'd you do
she's Asian dumdum... XD

Wow, I have my test in about three hours and this is the stuff I didn't understand that well. Until now! Thanks man! Perfect timing! XD

Hey! ..... your way of teaching is awesome. Your handwriting is neat and clean ...
Thanks man, very useful and straight forward as always.
Oh patrickJMT every time you upload a new video i get chills all over my body and watch it right away!
This is the best explanation I've seen, thanks!
Patrick your videos were temporarily disabled in Australia and I was freaking out cause my finals are soon!! But thanks for bring them back!!
this was right on time! we're going over this in class now and i had no clue! thanks a million!
thank you so much. I just started learning this in class and this helps a lot. Thanks!!!
I really wish I had money to donate to you. You're really doing the community a favor by making these videos.
Could you make a video of multivariable curve sketching. Like you did with simple ones? "Summary of Curve Sketching"
@ChrisTheDIYguy you are welcome!
I KNOW someone named ABSOLUTE MAX, and he is TOPS! Nicely presented.
Awesome video and lecture patrickJMT Your videos help me look at math in a whole different perspective:D
Thanks Nani Manzo, your comment helped me take a whole different perspective on life :D
I don't know if I should take your comment serious or take it as a sarcasm. But thanks! U WUT M8?
Patrick..you're so awesome. You picked a problem that's being graded on my homework lol
You are a legend! Keep on doing what you are doing good sir.
All the blessings must be upon you my teacher.

yaz I also watch these live lectures and they are so helpful, I wish I had access to them when I was in Matric.

I'll be damned. Just covered this in my Multivariable Calculus class. You my hero mang.
that is called 'closed interval method' and i already have videos for it!
hERO
Stewart Calculus 6th edition chapter 14.7 question 30? This exact question was on my assignment, thanks for the video and explanation!
Do you have a video of this exact same topic but with a parabolic region such as -2
thanks man, got me through integral calc and hopefully multivariable. we'll see friday
i really dont understand how you got the x value and the y value. would you please explain
What about the cases when your derivatives are a number like Fx=1 and Fy=1 for equation x+y+1=F(x,y) ? on set x^2+y^2
Question: when the equation DNE at a point, that is also a critical point right? how would you find the point where the equation DNE?
DNE is short for does not exist; I think youre looking for "undefined" ;)
Thank you so much, now i don't have to go to lecture :D!

And how do I find the critical points of an absolute value function, such as | 3t - 8 |?
Very nice handwriting for a lefty.
could you show that a continuous function on a closed interval takes its maximum and
minimum value there
Haha this example problem you are using is exactly the same as the one on my study guide. Number for number
wow it just clicked thanks
Why are some videos not playing any sound?
Patrick but you only checked the absolute min/max for points on the boundary
This guy's voice sounds like the guy from casually explained. 10/10 explanation.
we are the same person
Mind = blown
setting those partials equal to zero and getting values for (x,y) as critical points in this problem was super easy..
unfortunately on my exams they much more complicated..
is there any algebra videos that explain how to find critical points with much more complicated partials derivatives to set as zero ??
yes but is it for multivariable calc?
you are a god
how will we check if the point we found is maxima or minima??
Hasem Ali when fxx(a,b)>0, f(a,b) is a local min and when fxx(a,b)
many thanks as always :)))
@pabloMTv ha pablo, you must be easily amused! : )
2:20
OH MY GOODNESS THAT IS THE FIRST MISTAKE I HAVE SEEN HIM MAKE IN HIS VIDEOS. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. A very large haystack.
wow wow wow.God bless you
Sean loves you patrickjmt
patrick, open the video with "we'll talk about critical points on the boundary in part two."
thank u sir ..
Hey how are you shabana
who r u
What if the D is not given ?
Thxxxxxx
2021?
I did not get it
2023😊
2:34 lmao "so uh, uh"
dear patrick, plz have my babies
Hey
