I bought this album as a teen when it was first released, and I had never heard a voice like hers before... I still haven't and I don't think I ever will. This song was always one of my favorites. It still gives me chills. Thanks for listening to Sinéad.
It's a tragedy and huge loss that she died a few years ago. She had an amazing voice and the soul behind the voice that takes you in and you feel the song in your own soul. Even her harder rock songs are full of energy and meaningful. She had the voice of an angel.
Love all of her work. First album was earth shattering. Downpressor Man from Throw Down Your Arms, her reggae album Scorn Not from Universal Mother Never Get Old from The Lion and the Cobra Honestly, all of her work is unparalleled. So much pain, like a gaping wound and throbbing nerve. I love her. I miss her, and I hope she is finally at peace.
Sinead had such a gift. Her voice tears your soul both through it's beauty and it's anger....They don't make them like her anymore. She was a goddess. She was an incredible fighter. She refused to lie. She made truthful accusations and was punished for them. Her journey was very very hard.
I saw her live when she first came to the US. Small club. She literally just stood still the entire time in front of the mic, singing. The only time she moved was during Lay Your Hands on Me, when she grabbed her crotch and jumped back. 😂 Her voice was angelic.
"The Lion & the Cobra" took me awhile to get into because it was so different than anything I had heard. But once I could really hear it all, it opened me up to so much more music. Another artist that had a breakthru album like that was Sananda Maitreya (Terence Trent D'Arby at the time). "Wishing Well" is a timeless jam.
this album blows my mind to this day. she was so, SO good. what a loss we have to endure now. [EDIT]: as for future tracks, "Black Boys on Mopeds" and "Troy" are a MUST.
Polo --- someone sent you some Cohibas ? Very nice gift. I use to smoke a lot of cigars years ago and Cohibas were always in my humidor with some other high end cigars including some fresh, hand rolled, in front of me cigars that every couple of months the owner of a cigar shop paid two ladies to hand roll cigars from leaves we got to pick out of a couple different stacks from different farms in the Dominican. Incredible cigars and talented women rolling.
Shi-nade :). She did a powerful rendition of My Man's Gone Now on the Glory of Gershwin album which is also full of spectacular renditions by a host of other popular artists.
Hey Polo, her name is pronounced like it starts with "sh". If I have your attention, I'd love to see you react to Elton John's performance of Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, live at MSG. You will love it! Thanks for all of your content.

The Lion and the Cobra - forever in my top 10. Love that you are showing the European cover. Troy, Jackie, I Want Your (Hands on Me), they all hit.
OMG! Such a great album. That studio version of Troy does something to me EVERY TIME!
yeah, it's an eternal top 10 for sure.
Black Boys on Mopeds is amazing. Anything off The Lion and the Cobra is incredible.
One of the best voices ever to exist. A true force of nature. ❤
Troy is one of her many great songs and is also an early one.

Three Babies. Absolutely amazing.
She is amazing! Saw her in NYC when Nothing Compares 2 U was the big hit. She sang her a** off!
The Lion and cobra is amesmerizing album.Front to back. Throw a dart and listen to the next masterpiece.
I can’t believe someone reacted to this! This whole album is just awesome!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
One other thing... her voice is as good live as it sounds on her albums. She also was a very beautiful lady.
I Do Not Want What I Have Not Got is a fantastic track...completely acapella. The whole first album she released is amazing.
Why have I not heard this? I'm definitely diving into this. Thanks
A misunderstood vocal supernova RIP
Live versions are even better!
Emperor's new clothes is amazing but anything sung by her is amazing. I found her in the 80's and will never stop listening to her

I saw her in concert in 1990 at the Spectrum (Montréal). The song 'Troy' was maybe the most chilling one.
Sinead O'Connor - The Foggy Dew Live 1995 with the Chieftains - highly recommend it ;)
❤❤❤
From the same album, "Troy." You won't be disappointed.
Very timely selection.
"Nothing compares to you" was written by Prince!

Jackie or stretched on your Grave. HUGE fan of her AND your channel
I feel her pain 😢
You should DEFINITELY listen to Fire on Babylon. It will blow your mind.
Toast that cigar of yours first nicely. 😊
Never heard this song.
I may be misguided, but I believe we voted in America consistent with this powerful song.
She is Irish, you are very much misguided
You gotta do Troy! Same album
Great song but not a very well known one so your view count will be interesting. Many will watch because it's Polo and that's not a bad thing!

Just like Sean
A bit of a tangent, but...
A Prayer For England · Massive Attack feat. Sinéad O'Connor
Cocteau Twins - "Heaven Or Las Vegas" Album Reaction?! 👀
Best is nothing compares to you!
PLUS GENETICS PLUS. END STAGE STOMACH disease you know some younger people are watching
Talented does not sum her up.
Did she have mental health issues, simply misunderstood, or was she ahead of her time?
One other thing... her voice is as good live as it sounds on her albums. She also was a very beautiful lady.
