    Im new to Mtn Biking and I struggle with corners. We arrived in Bella Vista in Arkansas to ride and my new struggle is Perfect Berms and here they are sharp turn berms. Tomorrow I will use your technique and circle back. TY both so much.

    Awesome video. Please make more. Can you make a video about body position focusing on hinging? I saw another coach recently mentioning that we should not hinge. Rather we need to squat

    Just found your channel, really good content - I like the way you break the techniques down and go through them. I need to session and practice stuff, as I tend to just ride the trails but you’ve inspired me to practice more (drops, cornering and jumps for me!)

    I don't think I've seen anyone describe cornering foot work the way you have here. Your explanation of keeping feet level relative to the ground through the turn is great. Your video shots from the front, showing how the pedals move as the bike is leaned, that is so good to show the point! When you look at someone cornering from the side, you just see the outside foot is lower but to understand that it's to keep feet level relative to the ground while the bike leans, that is a great explanation. I for one appreciate the nuance in the description of it, nice work!

  • @boybusilakbikes
    @boybusilakbikes ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Oh man you guys are the best. I've been cornering with level pedals and I always thought I was doing it wrong although it seemed so natural. Trying to drop my outer heel just seemed so weird. The gimbal analogy was perfect. It's the same as the opposing forces in the pedals when going down chunky stuff which was pretty helpful last Sunday by the way. You guys have a way of explaining things that make it click for me.

    • @vicwesmtb
      @vicwesmtb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stoked you enjoyed the videos! There is a lot to cornering but being balanced on both pedals through the corners makes the most sense to us - dropping foot is a highly specific technique used in special circumstances - that’s how we see it anyways. Cheers and thanks for the messages 👊😉

    Excellent video on cornering. All your instruction videos make so much sense. Level pedal technique improved my cornering in one afternoon after years of trying the dropping outside foot technique. I suck a little less at cornering now.

    Love this vid! Late to the party, but i have a question: in the video is mentioned that you have to lean the bike using outside hand; would you please elaborate on how does this movement should feel? Should i push directly through the inside of the corner, should i pull up? Thanks!

      Also, I tried that wide knees tip you sneaked in. Really effective. Instead of dropping a pedal, widened knees to give the bike room to tip on to the sidewall. Guess my knees were only moving an inch but it seems to be a good trigger that unlocks all the things. Thanks again.

    Does it matter which foot is in front?

    • @vicwesmtb
      @vicwesmtb  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya MTBVerbier! Thanks for the message! It doesn’t matter which foot is forward but It should always be the SAME foot forward - you should NOT swop your feet when taking corners - I ride with my right foot forward for all corners, no matter which way I’m turning, my right foot is always in front. This way I build good muscle memory and I don’t waste precious time and effort swopping my feet - some folks say one should corner with the front foot forward to which side you corner, left for left and right for right, but we do not recommend this method…let us know if you have any other questions! Hope this helps - Wes 😁🤙
