- A lot of folks out there are intimidating when going to the grocery store and end up mostly in the frozen and boxed section. Here are all the basics when it comes to rocking it out in the produce section so you can easily navigate your way around fruit and vegetables like a champ.

You should do a segment on shopping at a community garden - differentiate those that require work or donations. I used to be in a band, where the my bandmates worked with the women who started the locally sourced organics inspired french restaurant in Berkeley back in the early 70s. Of course there they have several Berkeley community gardens that are basically run as community non-profits. Anyways same lady who also started school gardening projects so that kids could see how much work goes into growing food.
So please give it a try, I know there are plenty in NYC.

Videos like this are so helpful. My little brothers would have been so much better off when they moved out if they had known how to shop and feed themselves! And red delicious apples are absolutely delicious!

Love the new channel! Found Brothers Green Eats recently and its really inspired me to be more creative with my cooking. I have an 18 month old who is a great eater and I'm really enjoying introducing her the new healthy foods and flavours. It totally agree on the red delicious they can be so bland! Lots of other great alternatives. And my poor old black and decker blender is on her last legs. She's served me well and handled way more than I thought she would but it's time for her to retire. "Wink, Nudge,Nudge" lol

Love the comment about good looking produce. Our local farmers market has delicious produce that looks way less appealing than the stuff at the supermarket. Both great tastes but that FM has good, local, fresh produce.

I absolutely love that you guys do these vids cuz its different from other channels like jamie oliver or gordon that ONLY do recipes and not as much little tutorials and creative snippets and theyre just way more refined i guess? i definitely prefer your laid back chill style that i feel i can relate to and we love it it just helps so much :))

You didn't talk about the Mexican onions right next to the scallops that look like scallions but with a bulb I could eat those all day just lightly grilled to where they're soft and also I wish you would've gone over beans canned or fresh etc ...
Idk whay the qualifier is for the blender but here I am
For avos plz dont take off the nubby thing off. When you do you expose the inside moist part of the avo and it begins to mold, plz be condiderate of other customers who might have bought that. Also be considerate of the staff that will have to throw it away later and be wasteful. A green avo is not ready a darker and olive green avo is firm ripe, and a purpleish dark is soft ripe. Anymore than that you should be able to tell that it's over ripe.
You would think that having a grocery store guide may seem unnecessary for some viewers, but this turned out to be such a helpful video that gave me great reminders and even a new tip to use on my next trip to the grocery store! Thank you so much for this. Subscribing.

Congrats on the new channel. I just started using my Jack Lalane juicer again after some years. While I shop for a better possibly slow auger type juicer. And have been blending veggies into soups in a Bullet Blender while I look for a larger and more powerful blender. Always feel better when I eat this way, and enjoying getting back into it :)

I've always picked around the piles of produce to find the ones that looked the best but I suppose natures imperfections in looks won't compromise the flavor.
