Loved the video, because I reminds me of the times that I also found myself in stressful situations while traveling abroad, and how people go out of their way to help you or some how show you the way...... great!
Wow! I even was low-key hoping there would be more bustle and life at night there But I guess it isn't the case. Still, the lights are quite pretty! That tom yum goong though! It looks so so good! Hope you still enjoyed exploring that place at night, Nat!
Thank you, pal. It was nice to see it at night time. And had a lovely walk. It was quiter inside the zone but outside not far from the bus station where the entertainment venues are is busy. Loud music people dancing
The development is phenomenal. I havent been rhere but have been to Vientiane many times... it would seem that this city is more developed than the capital. Y/N
@@natnomad I should be there soon,, been getting ready for eerything and Thanks,,I watched ur video on Visa's and cost of living....now I need apartment 2-bedrooms on Vientiane!
I took the same route as last time. Train from Luang Prabang to Nateuy and then 8 hrs by van there. I slept near the bus station which is outside of the zone. It's more affordable that way. I paid 100 yuan for one night.
@@natnomad thank you 🙏 Now I am at Chiangray and early Aug will go to there. My plan is cross border from Chiangsean to golden triangle and stay one night at near bus station (same as you) then move to Hueysai stay one night, then cross border to chiangkhong. If you have interest about Phongsaly, I highly recommend. I made video too. Wandering sisters Moe
I'm surprised you went back so soon. Thankfully, it was an easier process to get in. The nighttime gives off a very different vibe. Did you have to pay for your dinner in yuan? It looked delicious, by the way 😋 Were u able to finish it despite the spiciness?
Yes, it gets easier these days, especially on the weekends as more tourists come. Just have to show the ID card. I paid for my spicy meal in Yuan. Luckily, I managed to change some from Luang Prabang. I didn't even finish half of the soup, haha. It's too spicy and too much, a huge bowl for one person.
Was thinking of going there sometime but from the videos I've seen from this place it always looks so empty. Perhaps more people during holiday seasons?
The city has a lot of potential. They're building it out and it's at a great location so just a matter of time until the people come once the governments / laws relax to make it easier to travel and move around.
It's to see the difference between this place and the rest of Laos. Like I've mentioned in the video. This little place is such a melting pot with multi nationality living in.
The same as I did last time. I took the train to Nateuy and 8 hrs van from Nateuy to there. You can also take the bus from Luang Prabang to Huaysay and then van to the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone but that is a long way. The faster way is by train.
I suppose it will be good for the Lao economy but when visiting new places the last thing I want to see is a loud, tacky, glittering, plastic, synthetic Vegas/Macao tourist trap.
I've met a few who work and live here. Most people who work here earn a minimum salary of 1,000-2,500 yuan depending on the job. They also get food allowance two meals a day and accommodation included but the cost of living here is so high. Much higher than the rest of Laos. The soup and the beer costed 100 yuan. That's like 300,000 Kip. Very expensive for Lao people
could you use the video, but record over the audio with your own audio? and the casino is no longer chinese owned? Singaporean? no longer the original person (zhao wei) own it? (also, not the Chinese singer Zhao Wei) I'm talking about a man who is a billionaire
I think we know which Zhaowei you're mentioning. Well, the original video included the conversation I exchanged with the waiter, but the music in the background was too loud. I was not able to use it. That's why I did the voice-over
Hi Nat. Thanks for the video and your experience. I appreciate this one and the one on Boten especially. I will explore more of your content. I had a bit of a different experience from you in both places. You and your viewers might be curious to see: th-cam.com/video/Izc_iAiRkss/w-d-xo.html
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed my contents. I've watched your video and also subscribed to your channel from another account. The 40 Baht extra charged at the Lao immigration is the service fee. It's annoying, I know, as a local person we have to pay 10,000 each time at the immigrations like at Vietnam borders as well as at Khamsavat train station in Vientiane from Bangkok. And also we have to pay 10,000 Kip each om departure too.
@@natnomad Thanks, I appreciate that. I have visited Laos twice before, including using land borders going in and out. This was the first time I was asked about the fee. It wasn't much, but seems suspicious to me

Yes, it makes the trip memorable.
How did I miss this? Top notch investigstive journalism, all the facts I wish the news could give me and then some

That's a place that would be interesting to see you continue to visit every so often to see the construction progress and city development.
It looks quiet for sunday night. Thanks for showing us this unusual place😂
It's different from the rest of Laos that we're used to see haha
So much useful information. Thank you for visiting.
Thanks for watching 🙂
That was really interesting to see it at night.
Thanks Nat, I hope you're doing well 😉

Way more development than the capital indeed.
Sabaidee poobao! Watching from New Mexico. Maybe one of these days I can meet you in person. Going to Laos in November.
Sabaidee, thanks for the greeting. Do hit me up when you come to Luang Prabang. I'm still not 100% sure yet where I will be in November.
you have a great channel and thanks for letting us know homie!!!!

During the holiday and weekends are more busy. These days, it gets quieter because the government cracked down all the major scamming operations.
The city has a lot of potential. They're building it out and it's at a great location so just a matter of time until the people come once the governments / laws relax to make it easier to travel and move around.
Exactly. In the long run, this city will become a new tourist hotspot in Laos. Just wait until it clears all the bad reputation.
It looks pretty dead over there huh? i don't see lots of cars or people. it is pretty city thoe! enjoy your trip Nat!!!
Yes, I was surprised myself. I mean, it was Sunday night. I expected it'd be busy
Its a tiny microcosm of Vegas. I assume the Casinos there are incredibly busy.
Probably, especially on the weekends.
"All that glitters is not gold"
As beautiful as it looks at night, what is it all about? Ok, I understand; you think it can be developed into some sort of tourist destination.
It's to see the difference between this place and the rest of Laos. Like I've mentioned in the video. This little place is such a melting pot with multi nationality living in.
Pretty surprised how dead it is for a Sunday though. I wonder what's happening and if that is normal.
It seems normal.
Are you sure that the GTSEZ Kings Roman Casino is now owned by Singaporean? Couldn't find any news to confirm this in google searches.
Yes, 100%
Hi....
The beautiful "town" is perfectly quiet... Sales n Marketing problem?
or simply "restrictions"?
I think it is everything, the restriction, the bad reputation, and they probably not trying to promote it, not yet
It's a front for other things, it wasn't ever really intended for tourist i don't think.
😊❤
Is there safety for tourists 😮?
It is safe to come here as tourists but there is not much to see.
Maybe you go back to the hotel too early 😔😎

Is this place off limts to USA citizens?
I don't think so. Everyone can visit, they just check your passport, that's all.

There's not much to see in this place anyway. Laos has a lot to offer.
When I come to Asia I want to see Asian cultures and Asian things, not for another Western imitation. Nice video.
can you get more detail about how people live here? work and salary? living expanse?
I've met a few who work and live here. Most people who work here earn a minimum salary of 1,000-2,500 yuan depending on the job. Looks like China
It is a Chinatown
The problems/decline of China, is definitely effecting both Laos & Cambodia.

Unfortunately I lost his contact 😔
To experience real nightlife there you need Chinese friends
Yes, or someone who've been living there for a long time that knows the place
@@natnomad you need the connections. They call it
Guanxi in Chinese
bor mee laiy khon pandai noc
