The most amazing fact about this video is how good it is prepared, how nice it is formulated and it delivers the message without wasting time. I cheers you for your great knowledge. The one whom understands well, can make everyone get it. 🎉
I WAS LITERALLY LOOKING THIS UP LAST NIGHT! I'M SUPER BUMMED All I have is a 2012 MAC AIR Catalina 10.15.7 . I don't have $ to get a new one , but when I finally found the information on tailscale website my heart sunk.
"hm, interesting", i say while watching this video through tailscale on a mac update: the video was thorough enough that i still learned a couple things, like the button in settings to add the CLI to your path, thank you :3
I originally installed the Tailscale stand-alone package but was unable to get "tailscale up --ssh" working on my Mac Mini. Is running the SSH Server from a mac not possible unless I use tailscaled?
I recall that the Homebrew version of Tailscale allowed it to autostart after a reboot, even before logging into a macOS account. Does the version available for download from your official website provide the same functionality? I need to ensure that I can reboot my Mac Mini from anywhere in the world and still access it reliably after the reboot.
None of the GUI variants will launch before login. This is not to be confused with the option to automatically start the client after login which subtly and importantly different. In your case, the tailscaled version is the only one that will start without being attached to a user session.
Is it possible to host a docker container (a self hosted app like immich ) on macOS (mac mini) using podman desktop, and then try to access it from another mac using Taiscale. I haven't really seen a tutorial doing this, most of the tutorials seem to use Linux for the self hosted containers. I tried following some tutorials (A deep dive into using Tailscale with Docker, etc ), but they didn't work, I wasn't able to directly add tailscale to the container. Is there a tutorial that does it, using macos for hosting. My current method that works, is just using the ip of the mac host that has tailscale. But the method of using the API key doesn't work.
Can you change the device name on the Mac app? Like you can on the iOS app. I know you can on the admin console but just missing it on the actual machine
Can some one help to share tailscale from windows hotspot to other devices? I don't know what iam missing , I did same as VPN sharing way but it's not working, the device don't getting IPs .
If I've installed the AppStore version, is it possible to switch to the recommended package download version and maintain the same node identity on my tailnet? Is there something I should make sure to save (and later restore) before deleting the current appstore version and switching?

Hey Alex, is there a concept of a service account user? I want to avoid using a personal account to authenticate the client.

Not easily. I’d suggest you just create the new node and let the keys reset.
"tailscale can't reach configured dns servers" - status output
Mac version of tailscale ui look good in widnows 🤡
