Full blowdry Hope you did not burn your skin
It's My first time to watch your video and I like you already
Just joined now,love you already
I am from the Caribbean and I have running water in my home
This clay pot concept , is the original basis for the ceramic flat iron. Ceramic is better on hair than most metals
Aaaawwww really am actually learning now
Ft 2
Hmmmm... I might try that.
I loved this
Yes 👍 true 👍

Hey 👋 👋 to mama winnie. In my village back then we used the can tin for cowboy or kimbo and others used a fork 🍴 to blow dry too. Akili ni mali nakila mtu ana zake. I will try the pot one it come out very good, we learn every day same thing new
Exactly
Wtmc
Omg! I'm from Burundi and my grandma used to tell me that back in her days they would use heated stones and ghee to straighten their hair. This tradition is long gone now, but I'm glad to see that it is actually possible.
Aaaaaaawww wow...
I would think the ghee was also quite a good natural nourishment for the hair, would make a good hair mask I reckon.
Reading the comments make me smile because even tho we are far apart we are sharing hair care techniques. My heart is happy.
True🥰🥰🥰
Very beautiful and true...our hair is universal ❤
Very interesting. I love seeing how other blk women take care of their natural hair. It's kind of like an old school press here in the states. Next time (to avoid heat if you want)...just put your hair into like 10 or 12 sections and bantu knot each section. Leave in for like a day or two. When you take down it will be stretched nicely, soft, and wavy!!!! Less stress on the hair.
Ooooh nice I definitely will try this out 🥰
Additionally, sectioning like this bantu method should help in using the clay pieces to stretch the hair a bit more, less use for oil and a more even style all the way around.
@@MalikaKenya could you please show us how
@@MalikaKenya please make a video
Well thanks for that tip I think I’m go try this when I was my hair the next time lol
My mom used to do this in the 70’s in Zimbabwe, didn’t know it was still done in this day and age 😊
We still do it, though not as often as before
@@MalikaKenya interesting, the art is mostly lost in Zim now, electric straighteners lol
Perm dombo...heard our mothers and grandmother's used hot stones to straighten their hair.
For everyone here wondering if this is just because of being in the village. This is not just being creative this is how it was done in many parts of Africa 100s years ago before the flatirons was invented. I’m happy to see this here ❤❤❤ People wouldn’t believe if I tell 😅
Tell them ❤️
😃 we don need alot of spare parts to build a blow drier..african were born genious in simple ways😀😀
Exactly 😁
This was so fun to watch. I really love how much she cared for your hair and comfort. This reminds me of what my grandma's used to do in South Carolina.
She is the expert in the traditional method 🥰🥰
@@MalikaKenya love it! Expert genius 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Kitambo ,niliona ivo mama akitengeneza her hair. Burundi.
Wow how cool I'm in North Carolina I head the kechee people are in South Carolina a lot of you guys I heard kept African traditions.
@@MalikaKenya😊
Am a Nigeria but I haven't seen this type of traditionally blowdry hair with clay pot before thanks for taking us along and sharing with us
Thank you dear, it works perfectly 🥰❤️
I don't think we work with heat in west Africa. We rather stretch our hair with the so-called African threading method. We wrap a thread around and along our hair and it stretches it in 1 hour but the longer, the better so I would leave it overnight
East Africa is different
Oh baby girl, I'm from calabar, Nigeria, West Africa! And my grandma always told me she did her like this with the hot stone
This is owesome, we did this on my grandmothers hair during her wedding, back in 1999..and she was a beautiful bride!
Uuuuuuhhhh it works perfectly well, I mean I didn't know its this good... May shosho continue resting in heaven 🙏
The fact that women and girls all around the world will make it do what it do to be cute! This video made me smile ❤️
Am glad you loved it🥰❤️
Our hair really defies gravity, thank you for sharing this experience
Africa is so unique and blessed. WOW! Thank God Almighty.
We are🙏
As a hairdresser and wig specialist in N Ireland... this is so interesting and understanding the true innovation where are flat ironing now exists is amazing ❤❤
Wow! That was ingenious! It never even occurred to me to wonder whether people without hot combs, blowdryers, and flat irons straightened their hair.
Yeah and we worked out so well🥰🥰
Jgklkpp
Makes perfect sense.
MALIKA MALIKA YOU GUYS ARE SO RESOURCEFUL I MEAN REALLY RESOURCEFUL. YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING, THIS JUST TELLS YOU THAT WE AS A PEOPLE CAN BE HAPPY WITH THE RESOURCES WE HAVE AT HAND. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
Thank you dear,.. I really appreciate your kind words 🥰🙏
This is beautiful to me - it’s like receiving a blessing from an auntie- hair is spiritual 💛
Thank you 🥰🥰
So very smart. Our people in America need to see how our relatives in Africa are creative.
Very true🥰🥰
Our Rwandan ancestors used this as a hot comb! If you think it does miracles, try it on dried hair after putting in some moisturizer and see how beautiful it gets.
Really I have to try ❤️
@@MalikaKenya My sister don't try it on dry hair. It will make your hair dry and break it.
Wow!
My mum had a metal comb for blowdry. Old is gold.
We love you Malika.
My grandmother had that comb also.... Sweet memories 🥰🥰
In my village we draw water from the spring in a calabash that we call POKÉ. This is my mother's village in Kisangani yaenisa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) I spent some time with my grandmother and it is a very beautiful time of my life that I love very much. Love you from DRC
Wow really, we learn alot from our grandparents 🥰🥰🙏
We group up just like this in Jamaica!!!!!!! Our African roots is 💪🏾😊
Yep one people 🥰🥰
Here in Dominica we used to have the outside kitchen too.
❤❤❤❤
Which time period was this done in Jamaica? I'm a Jamaican and mi neva hear bout dis yet.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
WE CALL THIS A PRESS IN BLACK AMERICAN CULTURE!!! WE GREW UP WITH THE HOT COMB!!! NOW WE KNOW WHERE IT ORIGINATED!!! HALLELUYAH!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow, amazing and enjoyable, what I like with Africans in the villages they know how to make something out of nothing, very unique and very interesting, thanks for sharing your village with us...In the Western area they use hot combs some is electric and others you have to put on the stove and let it get hot so it's pretty much getting straightening out the curls...also others uses a blow dryer to straighten the hair also in the Caribbean people has a cistern at their home some have pump to get the water in their homes and others have to fetch the rain water out like with a bucket.
Aaaawwww almost similar to my village... Some things we do here you have also mentioned... Thanks so much for watching ❤️❤️
@@MalikaKenya Yes, it is amazing how the Caribbean people live, eat, and kept their African culture alive...the Caribbean is like little Africa.
Before houses there were villages. That's why it takes a village to raise a child🤣❣️
This is great content.
Keep bringing them.
Let's support this hard-working girl
Aaaaaaawww thank you dear🥰🙏
“Everybody’s so creative “. I love seeing how people live😊
Hahaha yassssss everybody’s SOOO creative!
I love how they are creative and she is not ashamed about anything ❤
Thank you 🥰
There's nothing to be ashamed about.
What is there to be ashamed about 😂
@@meeka59 , that’s what I was thinking too. What’s there to be ashamed about?
So now I've seen 2 methods. This African woman Dosha from another village used coconut oil she took a can soup can size. Put holes in the bottom. The can had hot coals & she ran it across hair. I'm amazed at both methods. This clay pot method reminds me of the straightening comb. That we use to beat on eye of stove & ran it through dried hair. Blow dryer we use on wet hair.
Stay tuned in dear you will learn alot here🥰❤️
I love how Malika is so humble and courageous at the same time.♥️
Aaaawwww asante❤️❤️
Me too 😊
The lady is very pationate with her work.amazing lady indeed ♥️
She knows what she is doing... Such a nice lady❤️
Aww! Beautiful love it daughter! In The island we use to use iron comb and grease. Man I used to get so much burn on my ear. Lol 😂 the good old days. Be a proud villager and Ancestors culture
Thank you mum, this is how we do it here🥰
And the method is definitely healthier I think!
@Jazzy J 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣same case here
Lol, me too!
How do you like this a million times?
I love how resourceful us Africans are and have always been. Thank you for sharing this, keep it up!!♥️
Aaaawwww thanks for the love ❤️❤️
Wow this is so great to see!! I’m in New York City,USA & when I was younger we used to “press/hot comb” our hair. It’s a ceramic comb heated on the stove to straighten the hair but after the hair has air dried. Typically we used a traditional blow dryer for better results
Really am also learning alot from the comments wow🥰🥰
Oh the Hot Comb, I have mix emotions when it come to this. 😂🤣🤣🤣
@@IamCarrieNotBranshaw you and me both, hot comb burn marks on the ears, neck and hairline.
They used to put hair grease on my hair THENNN hot comb it😭😭 it sounded liked firecrackers; all I heard was cracking and pop pop pop pop💥😂😂
@@myleshamarie505 🥺 oh no! They were literally frying your hair!
This is such an eye opening experience. I love learning about stuff like this. 😁

You can actually try it out with someone who knows how to do it🥰
It is soothing, isn't it?
This was very interesting. I’m sure that this was done by my ancestors when they were brought to America also
Well they surely did this 😁
This was very educational and informative. Great job
Thank you... That's what we do here🥰💪
Very nice and the saloonist did a very amazing work.We used to do this during Christmas and it was so lovely👏👏👏👏🥰
Thank you dear, the salonist is a pro😁😁
I will like to give her those combs we used for hold the hair while ironing. Excellent work. Very smart
That would be nice🥰
This is a real Do It Yourself (DIY) video......wow...Thank You For Sharing...
You welcome 🥰
Wow we have so much in common . The resourceful spirit . I’m always feeling pride for that.
It's in us🥰🥰
Why do you think! Think! Think! That’s so? Please!😳😳😳🙄😁🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🙏🏿❤️
You can use a smooth round stone that you heat on the fire and use it to dry and straighten your hair
Uuuuuh really I have to try that
It was so soothing to watch and the result is great! And you all look like such good people, your video calmed down my heart :) Thank you for the pleasure and for showing your traditional hair culture!
Thank you so much!!🥰
Love the little chicks chirping! Reminds me of childhood💛

Beautiful, simple and natural content! Congrats
I dream of being this close to nature and resourceful 😭😭
You will one day🥰🙏
Me too I wanna learn how to live in nature just pure fresh air living off the land yessss
Now we know where madam CJ walker got her hot comb idea idea from. Our ancestors are so smart
Yep we all know now🥰
This is a reminder how our ancestors are so resourceful wow
Yeah 🥰🥰🥰
Interesting & enjoyable to watch. She should part the hair in sections to get better results for the center. Nice job! Thank you for sharing with us.
Yeah next time we are doing that...🥰🥰🙏

Thank you dear... Am glad you enjoyed watching ❤️❤️
Just remind of those days when we used to fo the same ...thanks malika for taking us back good old days
Thanks for watching also🥰
This was so beautiful to watch. Your hair came out great. Just shows we don’t need all these gadgets to do our hair
Thank you very much dear😘
This is a lovely method and i think if you did it in sections and using a wide tooth comb it will make the drying process quicker 👌🏽😍
Yeah next time am doing it in sections for a perfect finish
Amazing. Still shocked that I could understand parts of her language and I am from South Africa❤️❤️😭❤️
🥰🥰😁
Bantu languages are similar
Wow!your hair is naturally beautiful, as well as that of your "salonist"....very healthy !
Aaaawwww thank you😍❤️
I love and respect African cultures. So enlightening and interesting 🌍❤
Thank you🥰
This is on another level those day kwanza mum alikuwa a natumia Ile Kimbo can
Aki and it worked perfectly well 😁
This is more like flat ironing then it is blow dry, but so school I love it.❤❤❤
Thank you 🥰
OMG family!!!! When I saw the smoke after she added the oil it brought back so many memories! My grandma does this in the states but with a different piece of clay...we use something that looks more like a comb but the same steps!!! I love this so beautiful
Glad you enjoyed 🥰
Wow!,you've made me to flash back the yr 2004 at home I was using piece of a broken pot(Oluchio)to blow dry my hair😂😂👍
Oluchio that's what we call it aki🤣🤣🤣
My elder sister used to do this about 22 years ago. I watched her do it with her friend
Wow this was a real deal years back 🥰🥰
It's like the old fashioned hot Combs that we used to use when we were younger put it on the burner put on the wet powder cool it off and then use it
Yeah similar
Wow amazing we are so blessed over here not knocking what she doing I find it humbling the use what they have and make it work for them . Blessed to be able to go get into my shower or go to my kitchen sink and wash my hair and either air dry or 🔌 in my blow dryer and dry my hair .
Africans are very innovative
Omg.. I wouldn't have believed it. If I didn't see it for myself.. skills like no other.. thank God for the iron hot comb.😮
Thank you 🥰🙏🏿
Makes sense we use olive and coconut oil, and people even used lard and butter in thier hair! Furthermore many flat irons are ceramic coated! So if it works, it works!! And it turned out beautifully, you have my respect Aunty!!
Aaaawwww thank you dear🥰🙏
@@MalikaKenya no thank you for showing us and teaching us Sister!!

wow this is so creative. we used to just air dry our hair in my village.
Wow really, so many ways to do it... This is how we did it in our village... So good❤️
