When I was a freshman in college, my roommate was Jamaican. I am white (from USA) and she and I were constantly asking each other about the differences in our cultures. We talked all the time about how we cared for our hair- washing, styling, dyeing, cutting etc. I loved having her for my roommate and I learned so much from her. Years later and we still stay in touch, but my hope is to visit her in her own country. Fingers crossed I will one day.

watching this hair washing gives me a head ache! She’s quite heavy handed and I guess the density of the girls hair calls for that kind of manipulation. Her hair looks very nice at the end. Good results!

She has very thick beautiful hair and it is because it is natural and she eats healthy food and has not put harsh chemical in it.
Wish my hair was thick and long like that. I live in UK and it is hard to find good people to do my natural hair without charging ridiculously high prices.
My cousin brough #africanblacksoap for me from Nigeria and use it to bath and once in a while to wash my hair. I only detangle my hair wet with hair condition in it so it is soft and less stressed. I comb the hair every few days so it does not tangle as much. I would love to have it plaited in the local way but stylist in London do not know how to style hair like they do in Africa. Can't wait to go to Nigeria for holiday. I am also saving to visit Gambia and Senegal and one day Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, and other Countries in Africa.

Our hair loved water, oil and the sun. Our hair is softest when wet, even though it shrinks, but it's soooo springy.

The braids will be good for about 2 weeks. Hope that she was able to massage the oil along the roots. Keeps the scalp healthy. I had a co-worker from Ethiopia and she would massage coconut oil into her roots. She always smelled of sweet coconut.

She has beautiful thick hair, good you keep maintaining your natural hair very well, avoiding hair chemicals at all cost is the best thing she has done, as relaxers destroys hair roots in the long run.
