The thing is. He's good at stick handling, but then he starts skating 100mph in a blink of an eye and he gets even better. It's fucking bullshit man, he's so filthy. Love watching this kid and I can't wait to see more in years to come.

When this guy came into the league, I thought he was a lot of hype. After seeing just two years of his work, the guy IS a generational player. A five tool player like him is so rare these days.
I really hope Edmonton can build a strong team around him - they deserve him and another cup within the next few years.

Natural talent that he enhances with allot of hard work. Edmonton is very fortunate to have him. I wish Columbus would catch a break and get a kid like that.

Gretzky couldn't pass over two lines, this kid has the skill, but he, nor does anybody else who's ever played, has Gretzky's hockey IQ. He doesn't have McDavid like highlights, he didn't need them, he made it look easy & effortless. McDavid's sick, but he won't touch Wayne's points record. I'm guessing you weren't alive to see him play.

Crazy how much offense he produces. We're all telling him to shoot more because he has so many opportunities to do so, but he still leads his team in shot and is 22nd in the league in shots ahead of guys like Forsberg, Perry and Malkin.

70% of those points are assists. How many of those assists were direct passes/setups? Not saying 30 goals/season isn't impressive - by todays standards that is an elite player. Is it legendary material though? That's the thing with hype - it's all marketing garbage. NHL wanted a new poster boy since Crosby is now a veteran. McDavid is obviously dope, but giving him all that pressure must suck.

It’s cold in Edmonton 9 months of the year, it’s a dirty city. The city council is full of socialist busybodies. This is basically a resource mining colony that’s been operating so long they’ve built amenities for the families of workers. Our federal govt is a to go trying to destroy our industry and our housing market.
That being said, being able to watch McDavid live almost makes it worthwhile living here. I hope he and Draisaitl can bring a cup and then move their families somewhere civilized.

McDavid reminds me of Datsyuk. Very talented with the puck and his stick-handling, but doesnt score as much as he should. Gretzky famously said 'Never stickhandle more than you have to if you have open ice'. Gretzky meant that you shouldnt waste time stickhandling too much when it doesnt produce goals. You have to drive to the net and get your shot away instead of so much razzle, dazzle. Datsyuk, despite his talent, only scored a high of 32 goals once. McDavid reminds me alot of Datsyuk. He wastes so much time doing so little instead of trying to put the puck in the net. Ovi is a better offensive threat than McDavid because Ovi understands the need to shoot and produce goals. Ovi is a pure goal scorer whereas McDavid is flash, but not as much substance.
Well put & spot on. Wayne made it look so easy, his highlights are boring compared to McDavids, but who cares when you put up those numbers.
