2023 Santa Cruz 5010 MX Ride Review | MX or 27.5?

Since the release of the new Santa Cruz 5010 and the big change of switching the wheels from 27.5 to a mullet set up, I've been itching to get a ride on this bike! Click the link to see what my first thoughts are on the all new Santa Cruz 5010 and how it compares to the previous model.
It's nots just the wheels that make a difference on this years 5010, there's also some really nice touches and improvements made by Santa Cruz Bicycles. The new 2023 Rockshox suspension also adds a completely different ride feel, but in a good or bad way?
This build is the ultimate dream build MTB, ultra slick shifting with the SRAM AXS shifting and Reverb dropper. Rolling on the new Reserve HD 30mm Carbon Rims adds the perfect bike control and stiffness. All the stopping power required thanks to the Shimano XT 4pot brakes. And the grip needed in these wintery conditions thanks to Maxxis Tyres - Minion DHF front, DHR Rear.

My set up, 27.5 front and 27.5 back with a fox factory shox X rear and fox factory 36 orange 160mm it is awesome. Forget the mixed wheels. It is non sense unless you are a pro racer.

Great review Ben. I ordered one myself w/ RSV and have two rides on it so far. This bike is freakin’ awesome, SC knows how to build a purpose built mix wheel, compared to my ‘22 mullet-converted Stumpy! Too bad Specialized prices took a nosedive or I’d have my Stumpjumper on the market tomorrow! I’m 5’9” so medium frame with 27.5 or mix wheels is fantastic for tossing around. Congratulations to you for owning a bike shop as well, what a dream job!!

I think my dream garage would be this and a nomad v6 with a nice set of wheels to share between the two. I have a V2 bronson, which is probably close to the new 5010 and too close to warrant replacing as its still riding sweet

Hi love reviews and great riding, am stuck between the 2023 5010 and tallboy? Will be using as an all around bike even commuting, but I like jibbing as well but have seen so many great reviews on the tallboy, wondering if you can give any advice, thanks

Hey, great video thanks a lot for it. I love going down the enduro trails of Switzerland and was wondering when you reach the limits of the 5010? At what point would you need the Bronson or the Nomad?

The 5010 versus the Bronson?? Which one would you pick and why? Or maybe a better question is who is the 5010 four and who is the Bronson for? Love your channel! Happy new year!

5010 with a cascade link. Bigger forks. Turns the 5010 into a Bronson. Cascade link will void your warranty if you send bike in for a repair. So swap it back out before you send bike in for any warranty repair. Cheers
