  • In this interview with Rajeev Masand, #VidyaBalan talks about her mantra in life since turning 40 earlier this year. Hint: It involves doing more things that she loves, and no longer treating work like a race. She talks about her favourite Hindi film from last year, reflects on whether she's curious to see what #KanganaRanaut will do with the Jayalalitha film she turned down, and discussed the #IndiraGandhi digital series she'll likely begin shooting next year with Ritesh Batra at the helm.

    Vidya is a much MUCH better radio host than Kareena. She is in tune with society, has gone through real problems and has a nice positive vibe to her. Who agrees?

    • @abhaymathur9332
      @abhaymathur9332 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      True. Kareena only talks about first-world problems, when most of the Indian women are still struggling with third (and second) world problems.

    • @A_free_n1
      @A_free_n1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      abhay mathur yess and even though her show talks about very relevant problems and BIG BIG applause to her for that- patriarchy, workplace environment, divorce.... she does not seem like the best person to be representing these issues, considering her mediocre filmography ( mostly masala and urban romantic comedies) and her offscreen persona.

    • @abhaymathur9332
      @abhaymathur9332 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@A_free_n1 I agree with you that she is not the best person to talk about these issues. But not because of the type of films she has done. But because she herself has never experienced any of those problems. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Undoubtedly, she is very talented; but she has always been super-rich and she has always received a lot of respect and love from everyone. So, it kinda seems weird when a privileged girl like her give life advice on issues like 'male oppression' , and 'stereotypical beauty standards' coz I'm sure she has never been oppressed by any male, and she is obviously beautiful as per the 'stereotypical beauty standards'

    I know there are very few people like Vidya Balan, and most of us who appreciate and admire her wouldn't be very fond of an actor like Sonam Kapoor. I happened to watch a TapeCast episode featuring Sonam Kapoor and the complete contrast in their personalities is so apparent as I watch this interview. On one hand there is Sonam, claiming to be so 'secure' that she doesn't ever feel that she should have done some amazing film she saw, and here is Vidya, genuinely secure and truly a cinema lover who can appreciate other actors and roles and films without thinking twice. So much respect for her ❤

    Her most influential work till date has to be Paa (2009) which created a niche for this talented actor.
    If she ever try to become a director down the line, I think Indian Film Industry might see the female avatar of the legendary director Hrishikish Mukherjee sir.
    Vidya has the calm demeanor, deep insight of the creative process of filmmaking and view of life which is reminiscent to the Hrishikish Da.
    Just like Hrishikish sir, Vidya seems to have a fascination of depicting life with its varied themes in a non-sentimental and not so dark shades of crippling realities on to the silver screen.
    Her potential as an actor can't be fully exploited by the current breed of directors in India.

      Very true as an outsider I got into Bollywood for actors like vidya (she has such great expressions) never felt touched by the new gen nepotistic actors like Alia ... I think Sara Ali khan will get a pass

      Alia Bhatt don't need to because Karan Johar is handling her career. Without Karan Johar, she wouldn't even be on Mallika Sherawat level today. Shame on Alia. Shame on Karan. And shame on Bollywood/Nepowood.

    WHICH contemporary Bollywood actress would talk sooo givingly about other actors. I remember Anupama and Rajeev asked Shahid Kapoor at MAMI how he deals with boring script narrations, and they spoke about irrfan and how he deals with it, and THE SPEED OF LIGHT AT which Shahid turned the convo around and started speaking and speaking about himself was just astorunding.

    • @ritudatta2769
      @ritudatta2769 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Do you deem Shahid Kapoor an actor??I dont...just a frivolous over hyped performer. My opinion worth 2 cents

    • @misssecretgiggle3196

      Even during Rangoon interview when he was asked about working with national awards winner kangana... He turned the convo around him working with Irfan and others... Not a kangana fan... But give her the credit where she deserves.... I have observed that Shahid is a very insecure actor and a person
