    Radhika is a phenomenal actress but Karan johar would never include her in his so called game of "rate on the basis of acting skills" . In the next season he should change the list to " radhika, Kangna,tapsee, kalki,Vidya,konkona" .

      She gave a wonderful example of the movie The Favorite. It gave opportunies and work for 3 actress in one film. It's great that a director who's done few films and the favorite is his first major production. That's missing in bollywood b.c what sells matters most than talent and giving everyone an opportunity.

    With due respect to other female actress..i have never seen actresses like radhika apte and kalki koechlin , rasika duggal,tapsee pannu etc...get attention inspite of their soul stirring ,great performances...they remain be underrated thats what upsets me..
    Filmfare,zee cine,iifa etc...pays lot of attention to alia bhatt mainly these days (who by d way another versatile actress no doubt) but others should also be showcased...really I got it now..nepotism to some point exist...I in no way tried to demean alia bhatt (whose work i too admire)but i feel she is bit overrated...I know she is a versatile she deserves but others like her also deserves the same but doesnt get any(cause others r outsiders)....rajeev masand gives them importance and respect all of them...i like that..
    And special mention i adored radhika apte since "Antaheen"

    • @Finnola
      @Finnola 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      She's got more opportunies and backing so of course her work will be noticed but still can't comment on her work since there is dearth of good story telling other than the melodramatic movies. If there is a level playing field like in hollywood its hard to point out great acting b.c all of them are given opportunties and that is missing in bollywood. Didn't see much work about other actress you mentioned but heard of all them. That's the point it takes years for tapsee or radhika to get noticed. Despite performances in pink, badla or andhahun or margarita with a straw there are producers and directors pushing actress like Alia or deepika and many popular ones and their performances are labeled as great. I wouldn't mind calling one or two actress in bollywood the greatest in the country if that's what their selling.

    Radhika : " Name one actress who has done great roles in the last 2 decades"
    First name popped up in my mind - "Tabu"
    She was one of the best things of Andhadhun even at this age.
    And we all agree all her movies have substantial content and acting.
    And Vidya Balan, right from the start picking up good content and standing strong.
    Kangana Ranaut , no questions on her filmography.
    Barring the nepotism debate, Alia for her age has chosen remarkable roles and has proved herself in Highway and Udta Punjab.
    and Priyanka Chopra with Aitraaz, Fashion, Barfi, Bajirao Mastani, Mary Kom.
    Totally agree with her that one cant be satisfied that things are changing but do not agree with her on not mentioning all the good work female actors have done.

      In bollywood story telling is not diverse and if they do make it, comes of as melodramtic or made to entertain. Bollywood doesn't include actress from different kinds of background. Of course if bollywood is only selling alia Bhatt or few others then I can call her or anyone greatest actress in country knowing that there are other film industries nd their work are excellent.

    Oh so Hindi films are mainstream films and Tamil is ‘regional’? Don’t say it’s regional for Radhika, bc she’s maharashtrian. If Tamil is regional, Hindi is regional too. Let me tell you Rajeev, Hindi movies are several levels beneath Tamil films be it the scripts or the content or the originality.So there.

    • @baganboy5596
      @baganboy5596 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes. The general criteria for a movie being called pan-Indian (and not mainstream*) is if the movies get a pan-India release - the only movies that get that are Hindi movies, and Indian movies in English. Therefore they are not called regional movies.
      The Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi industries make some excellent content - in many cases, and in terms of percentages, better than Bollywood. However, when the biggest of them are released pan-india, they are dubbed. Largely in Hindi (e.g. Endhiran, Baahubali etc.).
      * The opposite of regional is not mainstream, it's pan-Indian. Hindi is not the 'main stream' in our country. There is no 'main-stream' in India, every major language has the same privilege. However, Bollywood movies are released in Hindi, across India. Therefore, they are pan-Indian. Tamil/Telugu/Bengali/Bhojpuri/Marathi movies are only released in their language of make in their specific region (not state however. I have seen Tamil and Telugu movies in Bangalore - I can kinda understand Tamil a little, and Telugu reasonably well)
      Radhika would call Marathi movies regional. She would call Bengali movies regional (and Antaheen, her first movie, was in Bengali - and she was fabulous in it --- an all around good movie.).

    Bollywood is full of fake, unintelligent, and immature people. Radika is a complete opposite. I love how she’s so real and there’s no pretense about her. And icing on the cake she’s actually a brilliant actor. Dare to say even better than the overhyped Alia who gets films because of Karan.

    Who decided to stick the supermarket background music in this???
    I'm trying to listen to the interview but all I can picture is apples, washing powder Nirma, checkouts, wallet, lack of cash and having to put certain items back coz I can't afford an extra pack of biscuits.
    And then the music shifted to 'Inspirational - you can DO IT, get up, u can succeed!! Success is just around the corner' kinda. Uff.
    Rajeev bhaiya??? Bhaiiiiyyyaaaaaaaaa???????

    Rajeev is such a typical man and industry suck-up - he couldn’t even directly agree when Radhika asked him if women have not had the same opportunities for diverse roles as men. Do better, Rajeev. Your silent (not so silent) compliance keeps adding to the problem. A gay man should know better.
