I’ve been drinking out of Waterford for 40 years now. Candles are light in Waterford sticks. Cut flowers are always arranged in a Waterford vase. It’s so beautiful.

I have a gorgeous Waterford Crystal ornament for the Christmas tree my precious mother gifted to me the Christmas before she died. I have treasured it for many years.

Some of the most exquisite and artistic tableware ever. Witnessing the manufacturing process will convince anyone about how special Waterford is.

I have absolutely no Irish heritage but when it comes to Waterford, I absolutely become obsessed. Oh, I love Lalique and all the French masters but a Lismore Double Old Fashioned is perfection.

Wow. My parents have Waterford crystal for more than 3 decades. Didn't realize they are that BIG of a deal. Impressive.

I've been to the factory! For every wedding, my mom buys the couple Waterford Crystal toasting flutes.

That’s a good wedding gift. I still remember my cousin & her hubby giving us our Lismore flutes. I had the desert style champagne glasses from my mom.

That’s what my sister does. My daughter preferred wine glasses so that was her gift. She said that the flutes would only be used once.

I have worked in China depts of several stores. The bin of broken pieces to get out frustration with customers to further break expensive Waterford was a favorite!

Such beautiful work (pretty sure our family had Waterford Crystal, probably looted or bungled away long ago).

Without lead, glass is completely soulless. The new pieces have lost their lustre and just can’t compare. The classic Waterford, Baccarat, and Nachtmann were mesmerising.

@@salvatorecollura2692 it's one thing if it's for display. But most of these are glasses directly touching your mouth. I approve removing lead. I personally can't see any difference. But I guess I'm just uncultured.

All the better for us! No one cares about it anymore. I got my dream Sterling silver place settings just a couple of years ago for not a lot more than the price of raw silver. No Waterford yet. Any advice on a good pattern to try to collect? Something beautiful and available used.

I got a Waterford clock and candle sticks pair at a thrift store in Chicago!! All together about fifty dollars, I’m not kidding, antique leaded crystal with Waterford watermark and name on the bottoms, no one seems interested, even the store didn’t recognize them, I knew the minute I picked them up by their weight ❤ more for us!!

I went there in 1983. I still remember the smashing room. They slipped right on by the fact that most of the crystal is now made in Slovenia, not Ireland.

We were in Waterford in 2016 and the only thing left of their largest factory was rubble. The only Waterford made in Ireland are the trophy pieces.

Grew up with a neighbor who had a Waterford chandelier in their dinning room. We had two big ginger jar lamps with silk shades in the living room. Found a tiny one in a thrift shop years back. Gave it to my mom for her lady’s secretary desk. $40

I got a pair of candelabras as a wedding gift, one was tilting to the side a bit. So, I find it hard to believe it when she says any items with flaws are destroyed. Otherwise, I do love Waterford and have quite a few pieces, some old and some new.

I love my Waterford pieces but they all predate when Waterford was bought out by hedge funds. The pieces made in Ireland are only the highest of designs. Most pieces are made in other parts of Europe and China. One of my bowls from the 1970s has bubbles in the glass but still has the etched Waterford mark.

Here in ireland - you can’t GIVE it away. At auctions, nobody wants it - and it’s considered to be just more clutter in grandma’s China cabinet.

Shame that they flooded the US with it. All those QVC & HSC buyers. Cheapened it. Not even made in Ireland anymore. Shame. Have a cabinet full, bowls & ashtrays, ornaments & even a music box. Don’t really use my Royal Dalton either. 😢

The stuff made in Slovenia isn’t nearly as fine as the old Irish stuff. It’s just another overpriced luxury brand now. Powerscourt and a few other things are still cut in Ireland.
