First time visiting your channel. I enjoyed your presentation and am intrigued by 3 of the books you mentioned. Dusk, winter in Madrid and Summerwater. I look forward to viewing you again. Thank you.

Oh my, your videos are always fun and interesting. I love the homespun o’natural quality of reviews in your personal library. 😽🙏🏼

How exciting that you're about to get that large box of books. I really enjoyed watching you read throught the list last year. I'll have to go and check when the announcement is. It must be soon! Oooh, it's next week! I'll be in Melbourne with Readings close by.
Thanks for the reminder about Summerwater. I have it on my shelves but haven't read it yet. It does sound quite a bit like Jan Carson's The Last Resort set in a rainy Irish holiday park.
I read a novel recently that was partly set in Northern India. Alice Nelson's Faithless which I didn't know a lot about going in, but really, really enjoyed it. I'd recommend it for your trip or prereading. Even though it's not an own voice.

"I am not neccessarily recommending it, I think it is a very intellectual book." (17:10) This really made me laugh, thank you!

I absolutely agree regarding The Winter Spirits - I had read The Haunting Season last Fall and liked it so much so naturally I picked up this one as well (same array of authors) but it was such a let-down.

I'm a huge Shardlake fan, but have never tried the author's other two novels, so I will have to give WiM a go :)

Louise if you’re interested in Girolamo Savonarola I would HIGHLY recommend ‘Lent’ by Jo Walton! An incredibly interesting fantasy novel about his life!

I found The Winter Spirits disappointing too. The previous collection, The Haunting Season, is much better. Get yourself a copy for next winter!

I really want to read Dusk, sounds fantastic- after hearing Simon, and now you raving about it, its out 7th August here, so one to pre order from the library.
Wow Sri lanka and India in the same year!! 😃Amazing!- you lucky thing!
I love the Shardlake books, so hope to read this one at some point.
Middlemarch is one of my favourites too, I thought about reading Romola when I went to Florence last year, but ended up reading A Room With a View instead, which was perfect. Summerwater is on my TBR , and good to hear your positive thoughts, I feel motivated to read it now
