Great work! To be honest a lot of Americans have trouble remembering all the big rectangles in the middle (the nickname is “flyover country” for coastal elites 😂). I would bet >50% of Americans would be unable to locate Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, and Missouri. And probably 50% would swap Tennessee and Kentucky lol You did great and were nearly always in the right region of the country. And I thanked you swapped Massachusetts with Minnesota in your mind because they are both long and start with M 😂

You did quite well. Something that kept misleading you is thinking "Midwest" means the middle of the country -- The Midwest is mostly around the Great Lakes area.
You did about the same as an average American who knows barely nothing about which state is which! 🤣🤣🤣 However, as someone from Portugal, you did quite good.
Rhode Island is really unfair because it's so small and in such a densely packed area. I was looking right at it on your screen going "I know it's there, but where the fuck is it to click on?"
Just so you know, most Americans couldn't find out 50% of the states, become I'm going to be honest. All the states in the middle have the exact same shape!!!!

You did AMAZING! When I was a teen we had these games and a TV gameshow called Carmen Sandiego. We learned the states, and countries around the world. At that time I was really good at countries. Of course in the time since then a lot of countries aren't countries anymore. These days whenever I can't find a country on the map, I just feel like Carmen Sandiego would be so disappointed in me.
I was just watching another one of your videos and thinking "I wish André would play one of those games where he has to put the names of the states on a map" so excellent timing! Also, you did a great job! There are a lot of Americans who wouldn't do nearly as well as you. Next time you have to guess the capitals!
I remember doing this as a child. My teacher taught us the man in the middle of the country. So Louisiana looks like a shoe, Arkansas the pants, Missouri the shirt, Iowa the face and Minnesota the hat. Maybe that will help you in the future. Well done
I remember in 5th grade we had a test to show we remembered all the states and capitals. I don't know what went wrong, but all but 2 students didn't do well or straight up failed the test. The 2 that aced it were myself and a boy in our class; everyone else got C's, D's, or F's. The teacher was so mad demanding to know why everyone else didn't study and prepare for the test. Or if they were even paying attention when he was going over everything multiple times. As punishment, everyone had to retake the test and lost recess time. Except me and the boy who got A's. Funny enough, I ended forgetting Alaska and Hawaii completely so I didn't fill them in but I knew what their capitals were. So I got a 95 and the boy got a perfect 100. My teacher asked me if I knew the capitals of the two states I missed and I told him so he let me off the hook. As a reward for being the only two to do well on the test, we were excused from the retake. And we got extra recess time for the entire week. I think some parents complained about how their kids were denied recess but the teacher simply said 'that is their fault for not studying'.
I had a friend who was originally from Estonia and thought Colorado was next to Maine because they were both snowy and cold so this was pretty damn good for someone not from America.
A lot of Estonians came to like NY, Jersey, Baltimore, Chicago.. bc of the established Estonian community and having an Estonian house (culture/language school). My grandparents originally went to NJ, then came down here to Maryland. The Bmore Estonian house shut down years ago unfortunately, but I went there when I was a kid.
Fun Fact: Massachusetts has a fairly large Portugese-American population, a fact often reflected in local cuisine. Hawaii has some Portugese influence as well. Malasadas, for example, are available in many places.
Sacramento, California once had a very large Portuguese community as well, and still has a major community along the Sacramento River - known as the Portuguese Pocket since the 1850s.

Not because I’m from Michigan but I don’t know how it’s not one of the most recognizable! Both considered the Mitten State and the Great Lakes State surrounded by the huge lakes it’s pretty hard to miss !
That was actually pretty good. I'm from Michigan and it took me a while to get them all correct. I can remember Louisiana because it looks like a big L. Vermont looks somewhat V shaped and New Hampshire is right next to it. Nevada has somewhat the shape of a V at the bottom. I try to associate different things with different states. They also have another way to do the quiz which is much more difficult where each state is separate from the others and the sizes are adjusted to be more equal too. I have tried the European quiz and have halfway good luck at it, but need to work on it. You did much better than most would do.
Wow...that was really good for someone who doesn't live here. You probably did better than most people who have gone through our public school system!! kentucky is shaped like fried chicken. minnisota is shaped like a crushed soda can. rhode island is too small on any map so they always say "RI".
