Loved the thematic connection between your favorite books this year. I added Arlington Park and Exposure to my list based on your recommendation! And girl, same! The story of a new name changed my whole relationship with Neapolitan quartet. Enjoy reading the next this summer!
hahaha the more i was talking the more i was impressed with all the connections 😭 i think you’ll really enjoy both of those when you get to them!! ❤️🔥
ooo i feel like i felt similarly about the first book in the neopolitan quartet so i am very excited to pick up the second one. also i am making it a goal to read first love next year! i feel like it’ll be a fave for me. the collected schizophrenias too!! loved hearing you rave about your top reads this year ❤️ and hope 2025 is filled with more new fav reads!!
I've consistently had Liars and First Love on my TBR because of your reviews. So thanks! I finally read The Secret History and it became one of my favs. Also My Dark Vanessa, Trick Mirror, Never Let Me Go, and Giovanni's Room

Thank you for this video! I added some of these to my TBR and I often enjoy books you recommend. To answer you question about some of my favorite 2024 reads, here are a few that might interest you: Clear by Carys Davies A Ghost in the Throat by Doirean Ni Ghriofa How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair The Sakekeep by Yael VanDerwouden Stone Yard Devotional by Charlotte Wood What I Know About You by Eric Chacour The Son of Man by Jean-Baptiste Del Amo The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk Hard Drive by Paul Stephenson Ghostroots by ‘Pemi Aguda The Details by Ia Genberg As I looked back at my StoryGraph this year to try to pick my favorites, I realized that I have grown in my reading as the year progressed, and I am not going to give star ratings for 2025. I am trying to come up with a different rating system in my book journal to help me mark the books that I consider my favorite books for the year. If you have suggestions, please share. A few things I think I will start asking myself at the end of a book: 1. Is this book telling a story that is unique or in a unique way? 2. Did this book touch me emotionally, make me cry, make me feel all of the feels? 3. Would I want everyone I talk to about books to read this book? 4. Come back to this book in a month and without reading other notes, can you remember what the book was about (yes,no) Happy 2025 reading!
this is a great list, i’ve heard of some of them but not all so i’ll definitely be adding to my tbr!! i really love these questions as a way to organize your thoughts on what you’re reading - i need to do some thinking about my 2025 goals still so this is super inspirational!!
I love how at least 6 of the books you mentioned I’ve purchased for myself recently for Christmas x) you’ve influenced me!! Have you read Magda Szabo? I think I remember seeing one of her books in your bookshelf tour, I read Iza’s Ballad this year and loved it. I think you’d really like it, it explores the relationship between a mother and daughter and how we can hurt the people we love without realizing it. I mentioned Free Day by Ines Cagnati in another one of your videos as well which was another favorite of mine this year that I think you’d like. It really packed a punch for me. Another fav was Aliss at the Fire by Jon Fosse. And favorites I discovered through you: I’m Supposed to Protect You From All This, The Lost Daughter, A Life’s Work (thank you Cass).
omg i’d love to know which 6 you picked up!! i have one or two magda szabo NYRBs on my shelf but i haven’t read them yet, she does really seem like an author i’d enjoy - i haven’t heard anyone talk about iza’s ballad!! i did add free day to my TBR because of your comment on the women in translation video 🥰 thank you so much for watching and sharing your recommendations!! makes me so happy to connect 🫶🏻
@@aniconicbookclub oh nice, was the first one I read also, huge fan of hers now but a lot of outline was lost on me the first time around. Having a book club to chat with about should make it a way more enjoyable experience:)
The end of the yr already! How can it be? This was also the yr of memoirs for me and Splinters was one of my faves for sure! The Elena Ferrante series…Will I pick this bk up and read the first in the series? I want to, but didn’t love that first book? Happy New Year!
