"i feel like nobody is here anymore because this video is 9 hrs long" GIRL THIS VIDEO COULD BE 9 HRS LONG AND I'D STILL WATCH IT TO THE END!! thank u for blessing us today queen
My feelings precisely. I can’t get over how watchable and talented Carley is. “I love precocious teenagers… I really do.” Yes I wonder why you would have a particular connection to the concept… Thanks for the great vid. I’ll be spending Christmas with my 88 year old mother and you’ve given me a couple great tips for stuff to watch with her. And I’m definitely following your Letterboxd Just as a tip you still probably could have EQ’d the mic-less audio to get its character much closer to that of the mic’s natural recording… But the video didn’t need that just FYI for the future
Oh except I got really mad at the Wellbutrin references because they refuse to prescribe me bupropion in the UK even though it’s one of the most prescribed antidepressants in the US and Canada. It’s the only antidepressant I’ve ever had that actually gave me a livable life. (They prescribe it in smaller doses for tobacco cessation?? So one month I paid £500 to see a private shrink and pretty much told him, “me sad please give bupropion” and the month I had … and the extra few months I managed to get an illicit supply … like I say it gave me a livable life) … this is obviously not anything to do with this video or Carley I’m just venting about it because… I don’t have a livable life. Uh sorry everyone
Saltburn defender here. Look, is it a perfect “movie”? No. But it was a fun time and like you said “the vibes were awesome” and that’s all that matters.
I saw Dune 2 in an empty theater on my birthday with an edible, closed caption glasses and noise dampening earplugs and I kid you not - some of the best hours of my entire life. I was blissed tf out
i actually met you at that 'idea of you' screening! did you know you have one of the top 10 most liked letterboxd comments of all time. like you didn't just go viral, you went VIRAL!
Thank you for understanding my love of “The social network” truthfully I have NEVER gotten over it & nobody understands or can relate to my passion over how incredible the dialogue is in that movie.
when you said you prefer to spend time watching movies than scrolling on your phone i immediately clicked off this video and watched a film. and i think thats what content is about
carley your timing is amazing, I've been searching for so long to find a perfect video to do my laundry to and here you are uploading this hour and a half video for me
NEVER apologize for longer videos! Love hearing your perspective and your wit! Also this video has really inspired me to start a movie journal?!? Thanks queen!
per The Iron Claw: there was actually *another* brother who also died but they didn’t write him into the film because they thought it would be too many deaths and make the tragedy unbelievable
I've never heard anybody describe Sydney Sweeney as a character actor before. That's really interesting, and I think I agree. Too many people can't see past her body to understand how good of an actor she actually is.
watched Dune for the first time on a plane cause i thought i wouldnt like it. i am now obsessed with the movie and books. i regret nothing. the dry air of a plane really added to the ambiance. i was very thirsty all the way through.
I hate the idea of making suggestions to others, cause watch what you want, but the BBC miniseries version of Pride and Prejudice staring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth will always be one of the best things I have ever watched.
The best yorgos lanthimos film is the favourite. I’m begging you to watch it if you haven’t already because it is fantastic. Olivia Colman is unsurprisingly a star I was floored by her performance
Okay, not only is Sing Sing PHENOMENAL but Clarence Maclin is actually playing himself! Outside of Colman Domingo, almost all of the incarcerated men in the movie were actually formerly incarcerated at Sing Sing. I went down a rabbit hole after seeing it and it just made everything that much more impressive for me.
yess i love going to the cinema so much, it's such a fun experience from getting hyped up to go with friends, buying snacks, making fun of the ads and looking at the trailers !! i hate that streaming is killing it :(
Honestly, I started watching anime for the first time this year and "Princess Mononoke" is so far my favorite. But most of my year (maybe two - three months) has been taken up with 17 seasons of "Criminal Minds" which i successfully watched and need another season like RN
If you liked May December, the Director Todd Haynes' Thesis film "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story" is an amazing watch. There's only bootleg copies you can watch on youtube or archive of our own due to using the Carpenter's music without the rights, but the way he juxtaposes the Carpenter's music to Karen's struggles with anorexia is phenomenal work. As well as using Barbie dolls and stop motion for the actors. Probably still one of his best works to date.
I was obsessed with Saltburn! I had a birthday party with bath water themed drinks, made all my friends watch it, dressed up like Felix. And honestly I wouldn’t say the movie was good, but it’s important to me 😭
Everyone says the Hex girls were their queer awakening, but I was always in love with Crystal from Alien Invaders. Started my taste in hippie girls. Groovy 🕊☮️✌️
I watched this entire video while crocheting (which it was perfect for) and absolutely loved seeing how your movie opinions compared to my own. It's kind of funny that I already knew so many of your thoughts from being a loyal follower of your channel, podcast and Letterboxd 😂 Also, I'm a Colin Firth girlie through and through, so I'm not typically that obsessed with Hugh Grant in romcoms, but I 100% agree with what you said about him in Four Weddings and a Funeral. I've never seen such shiny, voluminous hair on a man.
Literally part of the reason I watch Carley is for educational purposes because like how did I not know till now that Elia Kazan literally named names in the Red Scare 17:48
This video single-handedly made me revive my Letterboxd just to add some of these movies to my watchlist. I watched the whole dang video, thank you for making it!!
Watched this in chunks through out my day when avoiding my family lol, immaculate vibes, love hearing your perspective on just about anything :) have a good time off!
Haha that feeling of discovering you have a thing in common with a public figure and your nobody mind tells you you'r best friends now, but the thing is Wellbutrin .
36:14 NO WAY THIS WAS YOU?? literally saw a tweet this week with your review calling it the best thing this app gave us and like omg you ARE letterboxd history now like it's official
Clerks would go on to do an animated TV series and with every animated TV series they have a clips show episode but Clerks has it as their very second episode so it's just a clip show of the pilot which is wild and something I think Carley you would love.
YESSSS IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKED WE LIVE IN TIME. its my new favorite movie ive seen it twice in theaters and sobbed both times. also so funny you wanted to stab andrew garfields character when the whole time i wanted to shake florence pughs character LMAO
This video is really speaking to me because I’ve been doing the movie theater subscription thing this month and have seen so many movies (several of which you talked about here!) including one particularly unhinged week where I was at the same theater three days in a row for a 9:00pm or later showing, and it’s been really fun! Going to the movies is a nice thing to do with friends, a good excuse to not be on my phone, and much more immersive than watching on my tv or laptop. Love the multitudes your movies list contains. Also yes hard agree I love movies with weather or a strong seasonal vibe! I didn’t know that The Wild Robot was directed by the same guy who directed Lilo and Stitch?! The Wild Robot was absolutely one of my favorite movies of the year and yes I was also getting very emotional during it. Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite movies of all time and had a huge impact on me as a child. Absolutely loving this new knowledge!
I hope you continue to do these end of the year review vids for movies cause this was great! I love the book version too. Now I've gotta get to the library and the movie theater asap. Also, I went to Madrid this year too! Did you love it?
You should watch Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, made me cry as no other movie had made me cry before. Incredible movie. Also, kind of commenting this here because I need to know if this happened to someone else too, that movie moved something in me.
omgg stop!! i literally watched that movie a couple months ago and I couldn't stop crying, and then I made my mum watch, but at first she didn't want to, she said to me that I'm not actually serious to be sad about Pinocchio, but then we watched it together and we both ended up crying. like truly such well made film, loved everything about it🥲🥲
I watched this whole thing while I was doing emergency crafting and I cracked up multiple times. People need to be extremely grateful that we have an experienced comedian doing commentary videos like WHAT
For US viewers, I recommend AMC A-list! You get three movies a week and after just two movies it pays for itself each month! I saw almost a movie a week in theaters this year and it was so fun
I’m at 80 for the year and it’ll all about how much time you’re willing to devote to it! Going to the movies with friends is so so fun so I do that once a week and I watch a movie with my girlfriend every weekend. It’s a really fun hobby and so glad you mentioned some fun ways that it can be affordable while supporting local cinemas!
1:20:47 i was watching it with friends and literally everytime ethan slater came on me and my friend looked at eachother with the face someone would make if they smelt sour milk
Was i looking for a five minute video while i was doing my nails ? Yes. Did i sit down and immediately click on this ? Also yes. (Sidenote i heard the podcast ep you said you wanted to watch 100 today so in my mind you accomplished this today, congratulations)
Paper Towns also being your favorite John Green book is everything! Though The Anthropocene Reviewed has superseded it now, it was my favorite for like over a decade. Lol, 100% agree on all the movie notes.
I actually loved your takes.. even when you dissed movies I loved I respected your point of view. I hope you get more into movies this year!! I'd love to watch more movie videos on your channel :)
i really really love videos of people just talking about the stuff they've been watching/reading/playing over the year so yes i have noticed your mic dying but i forgive you also very respectable takes and movie era - we love to see it i think my favourites of this year were challengers and i saw the tv glow (cringiest dialogue i have heard in a long time but the visuals and themes made me cry (not really but i could have cried))
for the record, i also love nuanced stuff about the patriarchy having negative impacts on men, because i'm gay, and being rejected by masculinity is a really rough and isolating experience that i don't see unpacked often in a genuine and heartfelt way
49:00 oh my god we have the same birthday. no wonder i somehow agree with almost 99% of your takes this is insane. ive been subscribed for years how have i just learnt this information 😭
You don’t have to take this recommendation seriously because @25:00 being uninterested in superhero fare is completely valid. But, if you ever find yourself with spare time I’d try Agatha All Along on Disney+. Its barely a superhero show its very witch flavour obviously. An iconic line up of divas (Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Patti Lupone, Sasheer Zamata and more) acting their asses off, even if you only make it to episode 7 its soooo worth it and they’re short ass episodes. 100% recommend, even to non MCU people.
I'm genuinely so excited to spend over an hour listening to you talk about movies that I've never even heard of before.
thank u mama

Any movie length Uncarley video is actually my favorite the movie of 2024 thank you

You’re a lifesaver
"i feel like nobody is here anymore because this video is 9 hrs long" GIRL THIS VIDEO COULD BE 9 HRS LONG AND I'D STILL WATCH IT TO THE END!! thank u for blessing us today queen
Ikr!! I could listen to my girls on TH-cam yap endlessly. Like I'm actually dying for long form videos that's just girlies giving their opinions
And I’m definitely following your Letterboxd
Just as a tip you still probably could have EQ’d the mic-less audio to get its character much closer to that of the mic’s natural recording… But the video didn’t need that just FYI for the future
Uh sorry everyone
so true
That's my opinion too
Took a shot every time Carley said a movie was one of her 'favorites of the year' and now I need medical attention (love you Carley)
When you are back from the hospital, let’s have a round two with a shot for every time Carley says the word "FANtastic"
(also love you carley)
Saltburn defender here. Look, is it a perfect “movie”? No. But it was a fun time and like you said “the vibes were awesome” and that’s all that matters.
And it has my favourite weirdo Ewan Mitchell, even if he's in it like, five minutes 😂
LITERALLY like sorry i love the vibes and was engaged in the plot
Literally how can you NOT be engaged when someone’s literally sucking a bathtub and dancing around naked it’s so unhinged you have to respect it
Do you know what the date/time stamp was for the Saltburn bit in the video, sorry? Thanks. Your videos are always so brill too btw. ❤👍
salt urn is one of the first things she speaks of
I saw Dune 2 in an empty theater on my birthday with an edible, closed caption glasses and noise dampening earplugs and I kid you not - some of the best hours of my entire life. I was blissed tf out
i actually met you at that 'idea of you' screening! did you know you have one of the top 10 most liked letterboxd comments of all time. like you didn't just go viral, you went VIRAL!
i really wanna see an snl lore video from carley 1:07:56
Ooh yes please this would be so fun
Yesss
nobody understands the vibe as much as this unhinged canadian comedian
thank u kindly
I was just about to start cleaning my room what perfect timing for a Carly upload
yesss
sameeee
Thank you for understanding my love of “The social network” truthfully I have NEVER gotten over it & nobody understands or can relate to my passion over how incredible the dialogue is in that movie.
your reivew of The Idea of You lives rent free in my head , it truly shifted our culture
when you said you prefer to spend time watching movies than scrolling on your phone i immediately clicked off this video and watched a film. and i think thats what content is about
The jump from Queer to Scooby Doo is truly something only Carley could do and that's why we love her
omfg the idea of you review is definitely one of the funniest ones i’ve seen on letterboxd this year
carley your timing is amazing, I've been searching for so long to find a perfect video to do my laundry to and here you are uploading this hour and a half video for me
yesss so happy to be your laundry video
She released this right before I had to pack and clean my apartment before going home for Christmas
NEVER apologize for longer videos! Love hearing your perspective and your wit!
Also this video has really inspired me to start a movie journal?!? Thanks queen!
miss carly can talk about the fallen leaves outside her window and make an hour long video about it and YOU KNOW i am gonna be there with my popcorn
per The Iron Claw: there was actually *another* brother who also died but they didn’t write him into the film because they thought it would be too many deaths and make the tragedy unbelievable

naurrrr girl, i need a breakdown of the beach boys from you so badly though
Every time you said fantastic I really felt it in my bones and in my heart
27s ago is crazy. love u queen
love u
Ur a Queen too🩷🩷
The best yorgos lanthimos film is the favourite. I’m begging you to watch it if you haven’t already because it is fantastic. Olivia Colman is unsurprisingly a star I was floored by her performance
olivia colman is insane , she blew my mind in The Favorite , they should cast her more
yes!!!!
OCD girlie here! Your so right OCD does not make u a bigot😍😍

Carley i dont know if you dont like body horror but the substance is genuinely SO funny. Even if you get irked by gore its worth it, i swear!!!
Hello yes still here made it all the way through and happy new year:) 1:26:34
As a Latvian, hearing one of my favourite youtubers mention "Flow", I can safely say - I could not have wished for better end of the year🤩🤩
Honestly, I started watching anime for the first time this year and "Princess Mononoke" is so far my favorite. But most of my year (maybe two - three months) has been taken up with 17 seasons of "Criminal Minds" which i successfully watched and need another season like RN
That's a bit funny cause the video I watched right before this was called Before You Watch Dandadan, and it talked about 100 shojo manga
The wild robot genuinely RUINED me. I too, sobbed uncontrollably lol
what a glorious birthday gift! i’m so ready for an hour and a half of carley
If you liked May December, the Director Todd Haynes' Thesis film "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story" is an amazing watch. this sounds SO GOOD i will find it
Uncarley, our pop cultural connoisseur coming to us with table side chit-chat and gossip☺
always
@uncarley 🤗
Perfect timing! Love you girl
thank you!
I was obsessed with Saltburn! I had a birthday party with bath water themed drinks, made all my friends watch it, dressed up like Felix. And honestly I wouldn’t say the movie was good, but it’s important to me 😭
If you haven't seen talented mr ripley I think you would enjoy it :)
@ I haven’t, but I hear that Saltburn is heavily inspired by it! I’m gonna give it a watch soon. 🙂↕️
I want a video where you watch every single movie Hugh Grant has ever made.
Everyone says the Hex girls were their queer awakening, but I was always in love with Crystal from Alien Invaders. Started my taste in hippie girls. Groovy 🕊☮️✌️
fair enough
I watched this entire video while crocheting (which it was perfect for) and absolutely loved seeing how your movie opinions compared to my own. It's kind of funny that I already knew so many of your thoughts from being a loyal follower of your channel, podcast and Letterboxd 😂

100 plus movies in one year. I’m definitely slacking
This video single-handedly made me revive my Letterboxd just to add some of these movies to my watchlist. I watched the whole dang video, thank you for making it!!
I found your channel this year, and it's been such a joy to watch through the content and to be here for the new stuff. Excellent stuff!
Watched this in chunks through out my day when avoiding my family lol, immaculate vibes, love hearing your perspective on just about anything :) have a good time off!
Openly, earnestly sobbing at The Wild Robot is legitimately so valid
Haha that feeling of discovering you have a thing in common with a public figure and your nobody mind tells you you'r best friends now, but the thing is Wellbutrin .
Monty python is my favorite and the amount of people that tell me they hate it is astonishing
RIGHT THEY ROCK
1:23:09 IM HERE
i literally giggled out loud after pausing the video to read your letterboxd comments carley. you have a gift
I highly recommend “Conclave,” “Drive Away Dolls” and “Your Monster.”
saying “you wouldn’t do anything with them” while talking about puppets 😭
36:14 NO WAY THIS WAS YOU?? literally saw a tweet this week with your review calling it the best thing this app gave us and like omg you ARE letterboxd history now like it's official
Clerks would go on to do an animated TV series and with every animated TV series they have a clips show episode but Clerks has it as their very second episode so it's just a clip show of the pilot which is wild and something I think Carley you would love.
Queen 👸🏼: could we please get an "unpacking" video on all the "It Ends With Us" drama? I thought that was over but now there's more tea 🤯
YESSSS IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKED WE LIVE IN TIME. its my new favorite movie ive seen it twice in theaters and sobbed both times. also so funny you wanted to stab andrew garfields character when the whole time i wanted to shake florence pughs character LMAO
girl I could listen to you talk about dirt, as always love the video
Your description of Life of Brian desperately made me want a spoof version about Neville Longbottom.
I hope you continue to do these end of the year review vids for movies cause this was great! I love the book version too. Now I've gotta get to the library and the movie theater asap.
Also, I went to Madrid this year too! Did you love it?
you need to do a media of the month video!! (books, movies,tv you saw that month)
I definitely watched more uncarley videos this year than movies, I sat through and enjoyed this whole video!
You should watch Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, made me cry as no other movie had made me cry before. Incredible movie. Also, kind of commenting this here because I need to know if this happened to someone else too, that movie moved something in me.
omgg stop!! i literally watched that movie a couple months ago and I couldn't stop crying, and then I made my mum watch, but at first she didn't want to, she said to me that I'm not actually serious to be sad about Pinocchio, but then we watched it together and we both ended up crying. like truly such well made film, loved everything about it🥲🥲
please do a video on the beach boys lore I BEG YOU, don't let the haters get to you
As a gay man I can say that the Hex Girls invoked the same reaction in me as a kid
that's beautiful
I watched this whole thing while I was doing emergency crafting and I cracked up multiple times. People need to be extremely grateful that we have an experienced comedian doing commentary videos like WHAT
For US viewers, I recommend AMC A-list! You get three movies a week and after just two movies it pays for itself each month! I saw almost a movie a week in theaters this year and it was so fun
Immediately replayed this video after finishing watching the first time round. You are my comfort creator and sooo many great recs added to my tbw ♥️
Taron 👏🏻 Egerton 👏🏻should 👏🏻 have 👏🏻 been 👏🏻Oscar 👏🏻 nominated 👏🏻 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 Rocketman
Yes! I walked out of the theater thinking I had just seen that year's winner. The fact that he wasn't even nominated is a crime.
i love that you keep saying "i made a movie about this one" instead of video about the movies you saw
Was i looking for a five minute video while i was doing my nails ? Yes. Did i sit down and immediately click on this ? Also yes. (Sidenote i heard the podcast ep you said you wanted to watch 100 today so in my mind you accomplished this today, congratulations)
you're so right, PRIDE is a perfect movie and i also only watched it for Andrew Scott initially but UGH IT'S SO GOOD
Paper Towns also being your favorite John Green book is everything! Though The Anthropocene Reviewed has superseded it now, it was my favorite for like over a decade. Lol, 100% agree on all the movie notes.
set it up is SOOO GOOD. i agreed its so much better then anyone but you
ur letterboxd reviews have been a delight to me this year
I watched Monty Python’s “Holy Grail” right after reading Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Mists of Avalon and it was an absolute BLAST! Great video 🫶🏽
followed ur letterboxd reviews all year so this video was perfect for me
I just came across your channel, and I also loved Saltburn for the vibes I gave it 5/5 so I'm happily sat for this entire 1 hour review.
I actually loved your takes.. even when you dissed movies I loved I respected your point of view. I hope you get more into movies this year!! I'd love to watch more movie videos on your channel :)
54:04 you really are my diva!! I saw Rap World in Portland with the q&a too!! One of my highlights of the year for sure.
i really really love videos of people just talking about the stuff they've been watching/reading/playing over the year so yes i have noticed your mic dying but i forgive you also very respectable takes and movie era - we love to see it
i think my favourites of this year were challengers and i saw the tv glow (cringiest dialogue i have heard in a long time but the visuals and themes made me cry (not really but i could have cried))
Loved this! Definitely taking notes. You should do it again next year! 💛
for the record, i also love nuanced stuff about the patriarchy having negative impacts on men, because i'm gay, and being rejected by masculinity is a really rough and isolating experience that i don't see unpacked often in a genuine and heartfelt way
You're gay and trans, which would make it double isolating as well.
right at the end of finals week? you ate✨
anything to help!
carley always knows the exact christmas gift i need and we love her for that, if she has no fans I'm dead 😤😤😤
Challengers was so amazing and I loved how they did the sound for this movie!!!!
Twisters had be BAWLING lmaoo i was distraught every other scene
49:00 oh my god we have the same birthday. no wonder i somehow agree with almost 99% of your takes this is insane.
ive been subscribed for years how have i just learnt this information 😭
"If you made it this far" girl, i don't want it to be over 😆 happy holidays!!
Great job with this video ❤watched the whole thing and added tons of movies to my watch list ❤
Loveddd this video i love hearing people talk about movies ❤ would so watch if you did these every year!!!
100% recommend, even to non MCU people.
watching this on my train ride home for christmas!!! exacly what i needed, thanks carleyyy
PLEASE read the dune series and make a video on it. The books get so weird as the series goes on.
This is such a good video omg I’ve watched it twice your insights are so satisfying
