.....can't help but wonder if Netflix will follow up with a sequel (or sequels), considering that the graphic novels 📖📚 absolutely provide years of content which can serve as a foundation for more *'The Killer'* based stories adapted to film. Because of Andrew Kevin Walker's writing and David Fincher's directing, plus Fassbender's novel accurate, _(detail oriented, cerebral, introverted, methodical)_ portrayal of the lead character, I was 100% engaged with the movie. Great in a theatre - especially that score. Violence was used sparingly but really effectively. Feels like a response to the many misinterpretations of Fight Club’s message.
You got me thinking; which protagonist, was I afraid of by the end of a movie and I'd have to say Drive was my 1st Gosling movie and he terrified me, just standing still.
In terms of craft, Fischer is just on another level man. This was stunning to look at and listen to. His attention to detail is starting to rival Kubrick imo. I actually think this film is gonna go a little under the radar, but it’s going to be rediscovered in awhile

Great review, three totally different perspectives, all with positive unique takes. Also, this is the first video where I felt like Julien had real chemistry with Martin and Korey.
This was great to see in a movie theater. Fassbender was intense as he usually is and it was such a well-directed film. I can see where Korey's coming from about one person potentially not deserving to die, but like you said, they were just caught up in the situation! Also, THAT one fight scene! You know the one.
The thing is with regards to that person we are talking about (hint: taxi) Fassbender knew he had to because he does something with his face that makes it apparent he had to
Anybody else notice how close Tilda Swinton's scene was to Fassbender's basement scene in Inglorious Ba$terds? She even enjoyed her last drink of good liquor.
The commenter _was_ kinda right, in a sense. The movie does have a sort of "comedy of errors" thing going for it. Here we have a guy, an assassin, who constantly resides in his own thoughts. A guy who, before engaging in serious undertakings(usually killing somebody), mentally psychs himself up to do the job as perfectly as humanly possible. Only for him to turn around, and fuck it all up in the exact way he told himself not to. He does this through the entire movie. If you watch the movie from the point of view where the main character is someone who _thinks_ they're better than they actually are at their chosen profession, the movie does become kind of funny...but also kind of boring.
I personally don't think he's better than others, I think he has all those rules because he knows he's not. That's why he says I think multiple times, something along the lines of him being one of the many, not unique. He stated this in the beginning of the film and the end. But you're right, it's definitely a comedy of eras.
I don't want to spoil with too many details, so I'll leave it at this: there is one kill in The Killer that absolutely reminded me of a kill in Zodiac. i.e. Fincher may have been paying homage to himself in that scene.

@TheBatman514 because taking out a taxi driver in DR vs a famous billionaire have different consequences/risks. Letting him know that he can find him and he could bypass any security to find him was enough.
He took a break from acting for a while, he said/announced it in 2016. Since then he has gotten married, had a kid, started racing and an acting school.
At first I did not like the movie, but I kept thinking about the movie days later...watched it again and it was pretty good, its not the best Fincher obviously, but it has its great parts. Cinematography is fantastic and sound design was great.
This move was really cool, but I thought the story sucked. I was waiting for the twist or something to happen but it was all so straightforward. He messed up, they messed up his wife, he kills, the end.
I got a sense he was lying about his involvement. He said he was only there an hour but when the protagonist pulls up to his house he's a bunch of cigarette butts on the ground which means that guy was probably there for a while.
I’m a huge fincher fan but this one felt like it was missing something. It was good but like not as memorable with the characters, story, or messaging. Technically yeah it’s a masterpiece, however it did feel a bit indulgent.
Honestly I enjoyed this but after something like Barry came out and in my opinion sort of re-wrote the book on how hitman stories can be done this felt a little...... by the numbers? I've also seen the "the life of a criminal is really really boring at times" thing done way better in Better Call Saul. I know I'm comparing two TV shows to a movie but it's just something I found interesting. I did love the fight scene though. I saw it in theaters and that shit was insane.
SPOILERS For the taxi driver scene there a specific shot of him looking straight at fasbender through the rear view mirror and David Fincher made a point to show that. Idk but when he did that I knew right away that he was gonna get clocked
From the first scene I though his monologues were his flaw intentionally. If he didn't keep distracting himself with his own ego, he would have been better at his job. Otherwise, did I miss something? How did that dog deserve to die??? Their only error was being loyal to a thug.
_"From the first scene"_ his ruminations _"intentionally"_ reflected the way The Killer is in the graphic novel series. The creators of the movie (and Fassbender) did a perfect job transferring that character aspect to screen. "...The Killer misses his shot and immediately goes on the run in the movie. *_And while the assassin also messed up the hit job in Paris in the comics, he ultimately does gun down his intended Paris target. But The Killer only does so after killing several other people before returning to finish the job he started._* In Fincher’s film, The Killer leaves the target behind entirely and retires to a beach in the Dominican Republic (his homes are in *Venezuela* and Mexico in the graphic novel series). However, should there be a sequel to The Killer, it’s possible the assassin will return to finish the job he was hired to do."
I actually thought it would’ve been better if he kept the first song at full volume the entire time instead .. that’s the only thing I would’ve changed about the whole movie lol
Calling him “James bond” isn’t really outta the box. Because the graphic novel the film is based on later in the novel they call him the third world’s James Bond.

I get what you mean because he was just doing his job, which isn't illegal. If he didn't do his job he would get fired. The main character kept the old woman alive only for information, and I remember thinking to myself "if he doesn't kill her then that means this movie is racist, especially since the cab driver is more innocent then this white woman" so I was glad when he did finally kill her. After the movie was over I thought about it, and I realized he killed the cab driver because he saw him and literally wants no loose ends. What I can tell by this movie is that I can see certain people having different reactions to it, like after when he kills that woman on the steps an elderly white man would be like "hey why kill her when she just helped you out?? She looks innocent to me" and I would be like "the cab driver he killed is more innocent then her, she actually know information on what happened" and he would be like "how you know that driver is innocent? it is possible he does drugs or does crimes" and in my head I would call him a racist but I wouldn't call him that because then he will ask why and i have this theory that white people who are still racist after age 40 will never change so trying to correct the old man would be a waste of time.

I don't think it would've mattered either way. The dude saw his face. We don't really need to rationalize it to make it seem like the guy may have deserved it. It was clear from the moment he let the dude see his face he was going to have to put him down.
@@RebelWithoutABossthat’s literally what I told my girl. Soon as dude looked at him I knew it was over
@@yaboyauss4273 then he let the last person live why?? Seeing a face doesnt mean much if he's pretty much jon doe in "camo" and looks like the "typical tourist"

LEO RODRIGUEZ ✔😵 _(Gabriel Polanco)_
That was foul, PERO at that point "The Killer" didn't have details about Claybourne, "The Brute", or "The Expert" _(Q-Tip: Tilda Swinton)._ Fassbender's "Killer" character didn't know all of the facts about who wanted to kill him or, if let go, if Leo could/would somehow notify someone about how Fassbender's character was now on the hunt for those who'd sought him out, tracked him to his home in RD (DR), and nearly murdered his lover Magdala.
Rationale of _"a hitta"_ / someone who murders for a living.
"Negative Treatment" (📖) :
*"TRUST NO ONE"*
@TheBatman514 because taking out a taxi driver in DR vs a famous billionaire have different consequences/risks. Letting him know that he can find him and he could bypass any security to find him was enough.
It's good seeing Michael Fassbender again, as it's been a while since we last saw him in something
He took a break from acting for a while, he said/announced it in 2016. Since then he has gotten married, had a kid, started racing and an acting school.
*'NEXT GOAL WINS'* ⚽️ 😁
Has one of the best (and longest) fight scenes in quite a while!
🔥🔥 fight scene was raw asf
As gritty and brutal as the fight scene between James Bond and Mr. Hinx.
*Anton Chigurh* + Leon = "The Killer "
I can never listen to The Smiths the same way again.
Really enjoyed this movie.
Enjoyed this
I really enjoyed this movie. Another very very good one by Mr. Fincher
Its was ok not great. Collateral is the ultimate hitman film.
Martin reacting to The Smith's video needs to be longer!
RIP that guy that was just doing his job but wrong place wrong time
He _(Leo)_ went to work..... 😵
I got a sense he was lying about his involvement. He said he was only there an hour but when the protagonist pulls up to his house he's a bunch of cigarette butts on the ground which means that guy was probably there for a while.
It’s definitely a dark comedy lol

I’m a huge fincher fan but this one felt like it was missing something. It was good but like not as memorable with the characters, story, or messaging. Technically yeah it’s a masterpiece, however it did feel a bit indulgent.
Great, can't wait to watch the movie.
Now....for comparison, you guys have got to review the hitman classic....Grosse Point Blank! :D
SPOILERS
For the taxi driver scene there a specific shot of him looking straight at fasbender through the rear view mirror and David Fincher made a point to show that. Idk but when he did that I knew right away that he was gonna get clocked
I haven’t seen it but I’m wondering if poor ol room service got caught up in a mission.
Basic movie cool to watch… ending was blah I kept waiting for it to go up a notch after he went to Florida but it never did…..
Don't mess with the Florida Dog named Diva lol
I actually thought it would’ve been better if he kept the first song at full volume the entire time instead .. that’s the only thing I would’ve changed about the whole movie lol
I would call this a black/dark comedy.
His code is broken for every kill. Which is part of the comedy.
*"TRUST NO ONE."*
Included _Leo_ (and Dolores) ✔
It's not Fincher at his best, but it's still decent, and an improvement over Mank
Calling him “James bond” isn’t really outta the box. Because the graphic novel the film is based on later in the novel they call him the third world’s James Bond.
you guys have me lmao, but question -- why the hell aint you reviewed american psycho???
Also dude has the world's smallest and quietest suppressor on his firearm, he bought a firearm from a dealer that so happened to have the right threaded barrel for his tiny suppressor, and made a molotov using a 40 ounce.
I wish fincher didn’t use ADR. I hope movies learn to get better dialog recording again
You guys should definitely do a review for The Cave (2005) film and it’s has a great cast too the movie not be perfect or good but I still enjoy it as a guilty pleasure film
The killer broke every rule in his book.
the inner monologue is so funny
Mirrored aspects of the graphic novel.
The pace, tone, and The Killer's moment to moment ruminations reflected & echoed the novel series character, and the "vibe" readers get panel by panel, until eventually "a job" is ultimately executed.
In the aforementioned ways, the movie creators did excellent work transferring the feel of the graphic novel to screens.....

good and accurate review
Didn't Fassbender throw his girlfriend through a plate glass window a few years back? Yes, he is perfect casting as a cold hearted killer.
Well, Michael Fassbender might not want to play Bond.
they rebooting xmen now, Just get fassbender back as magneto, hes underrated af
# doubletoasted is this a remake to the japanese version the Killer ?
Dont be ashamed Corey, embrace it! Dont repress yourself to fit into the jealous society's norms. I know ur joking but still-stick it to everyone
It's borderline poverty porn, the killer eats McDonald's and doesn't kill the very rich, yet will murder the working class.
The original John Woo’s The Killer was the best.
Imagine David Fincher remade his version of That movie. Right?
Did anyone else find that some parts of the score sounding like someone's tummy gurgling?
He constantly breaks his code...
I was just watching this yesterday and I was so interested in it. :)
“This was not in no way a comedy.”
There are definitely amusing moments in the film. Intentionally so.
The cab driver didnt have to go out like that
I get what you mean because he was just doing his job, which isn't illegal.
Dog got mad hops 🐕
You guys havent even pointed out how his inner dialogue is kinda off from his actions
The whole thing is a comedy... Looking at how much everyone sucks at what they're doing. It's pretty damn funny
Why Korey kicked his dad/Yes man (Martin) out of his seat across from him? That’s so wrong
Michael Fassbender should be Agent 47 in a new Hitman movie just give him a suit with a red tie and shave his bald with a barcode.
Spill OG’s represent 🎉
This movie is, beat for beat, Se7en from John Doe’s perspective.
The Gilbert Gottfried joke was a little weird to hear in it.
