Traditional Scottish stovies are made with roast beef dripping. Never seen anyone add Marge, carrots, cabbage, peas nor sweetcorn and we use corned beef or minced beef and oxo.
Kay I love your videos so much they always bring a smile to my face. I'm in college now and your videos give me the strength to do my work. Love you lots Kay~
@@LucilleBrawl17 The term 'stovies' comes from the way the dish is cooked. The potatoes are stewed slowly, rather than boiled. The process of stewing is known in Scots as 'to stove. ' The ingredients vary a bit, but rarely stray from tatties, onions and meat.
I love Stovies. My brother made them for me 25 years ago when he lived in Scotland. He used sausages though. Also known as poor man's stew. Great way to use up leftovers. I make this once a month.
Cook the meat first, then add onion when meat is near done. You can add a little salt when you add onion. Wait to add water when it’s browned. A little garlic a parsley would not hurt. You are. Asking improvements and it’s noted, for sure.
If it has its own grease or fat, like bacon, no need for any grease or marg. I drain fat grease, from beef and bacon, if it’s a lot. Your seasonings will help with flavor. You can also seate veggies in the beef fat juices before draining, for flavor
I’m Scottish and this is definitely not stovies 🧐🤮 I actually have no words right now apart from I want to be sick and I never want to eat food ever again after seeing your videos 😭🤮
Don't understand why you never preheat your pans or have the water boiling before you put your spaghetti in or why you over cook everything. I would starve to death if I had to eat your cooking. But I do laugh a lot watching your videos
I love you kay, but this is NOT stovies..im scottish and have never felt so hurt in a long time. Youre supposed to boil potatoes and swede together in a pot with a bit of milk and MABYE a stock cube if you want, you top it up woth water then you get a tin or 2 idk of corned beef (thats what we use in my house and it does good enough) and after you drain the potatoes and swede you mash it together (without milk) and there you have stovies. However, you CAN add onions but im not too sure on how many because we dont use them for stovies, hope you can find better recipies as this was FAR from stovies lol
When you watched the guy do this.... did he tell you to chop the onions in the saucepan with a slotted spoon??? We tend you use knives for chopping veg.
Cooking all together diff ingredients chopped into diff size pieces guaranties that your cabbage will turn into porridge, while your carrots will stay hard like a rock.
Hey Kay, my sister and I would love to send you a little gift, is there anyway that we could do this? We love watching your videos and you always make us laugh, I'm not so keen on the swearing, but I suppose it's all good fun. 😛
"He says it needs lots and lots of seasoning" - and saying this, Kay adds a few granules of salt and pepper that land on her soon and not in her food.
I cringe at the sound of metal on the non stick surface....
This video recipe that you watched.
It wasn’t called ‘How to Basic’ was it?
don't take the piss, Kay is on her way to get her first Michelin star
What’s the video called
I love how Lee always has a big inhale or exhale right before taking a bite.
Saving some dignity is all.
Uh oh, the meat's cooking! Better add water!
Kay, would you do me a favour and share the link to the guy who showed you how to make this, please? xxxxx love you!
