In 1968 I bought a gray sweater with black leather details on the front, with a large slouchy turtle neck. I loved that sweater! It was $100 and I put it on a credit card. It was the best purchase I ever made!! I wore that sweater for at least 15 years! I didn't want to give it up, but after having kids, I had put on too much weight to wear it! I wore it a lot and it was well loved!!
Lol, love the final sale advice. Just bought a final sale and no return coat online...was still pricey and I HATE it. Never again. Thanks for reinforcing the point!
Oh no that's the worst! Take it as the last time you'll buy final price and a lesson learned. We've ALL been there. 😉
I think my worst purchases were:
1) those I bought to go with a tricky-to-style item in my wardrobe, they never worked out. I would keep buying other items, but eventually gave away all those and the original item that I was trying to style, what a waste of time and money;
2) trying to wear colors recommended by my pro color analysis that I didn’t really like on me, grays and purples; and
3) any items where I compromised on my natural-fiber fabric and genuine leather footwear only rules, they’re just not wearable. Now I spend more for great fabrics and materials, but buy fewer things, no more fast-fashion.
So many of I have made these mistakes! Thank you for sharing Kimberly
I really love Ralph Lauren items. They are well made and comfortable but I don’t really want to spend over $100 on a T-shirt. Occasionally, I can find them on sale. Last week, I found the perfect shirt but in the wrong color. It is a coral red. I am a blue/gray kind of girl. I bought the shirt anyway because it fits like a glove. Wearing it right now and I am finding that I actually like this color even though I never wore anything like it before😊
Sounds like a win!
Every.Single.One. - yep each and every mistake has been mine - thanks for a great video!
I laughed out loud! Thanks Debra. I've made them all too 😉
I have a few nice, simple, mostly solid-color silk dresses that work well for any formal, or serious, occasion. I’ve never attended a black-or white-tie event, so I don’t need a dress for that. If I ever go to one, I would rent a really nice one. I wear my silk dresses for everyday, too, why not? Their comfort can’t be exceeded and they’re so simple to dress down.
I wear my silk dresses for daytime too. It instantly makes me feel so much more put together.
AMAZING tips! I’m glad this video was recommended to me when it was b/c I was JUST about to buy multiple final sale items in weird sizes online 😭😭
Glad it caught you just in time Crystal! Now you can save that money for something you really want and love🙂
@@EricaBallStyle absolutely!! Thanks again for this amazing video!

Great tips thank you!
Thanks so much Penny!
I wll buy final sale items if I have and love them already in another color. For example, I just got a pair of Stuart Weitzman thigh-high suede boots (the best) in beige, I already have them in black. They run about $800 normally and I got them for $300, I’m thrilled with this deal. They’re not the trendiest boot style this year, but are such great top-quality basics for those awkward-length skirts, like those that cut right across the kneecap, that I end up with, being petite. I find myself wearing more light-colored outfits in the last few years and don’t want to wear black boots with them.
I have done the same thing on one of my favorite blouses. This is def a good exception to the rule!
Oh I pulled the too small shoe thing! They’re sitting in the trunk of my car right now headed to Goodwill! Ugh!
Oh no!! It's a (hard) lesson learned.
I recently bought a pair of shoes that are a size 7 and a half. I usually buy a size 8 but they didn’t have them in an 8 😅 and I said same as you, they’ll stretch.. I hope 🤞
I hope they do too Claire 😬
I'm going to sit down and work out my purchase criteria RIGHT NOW! I can be so indecisive when shopping so in the past have just bought the things... not anymore! I like a structure so I think having criteria will be so good! X
YES!!!! So many things go into buying purchases that make it hard to be decisive. I've saved so much time and money having shopping criteria and I'm glad you will too Ellen. 🙂
❤
How do you find someone in your coloring and body shape?
I am 6p 5’4” slim pear with true summer coloring with grey ( pixie) hair.
I can’t find any matches, any ideas?
That is a great question Eileen! It can take a bit of research. What about Helen Mirren? She's pear-shaped, 5'4, and has great style.
This would make a great series. I’d love to have you describe some women/actresses of various sizes, coloring, etc so I can find one with style I could follow.
@@deborahwalsh3335 Love this idea Deborah! I'm going to put some thought into how to make this a series. Thanks for suggesting it. 😊
Here’s a BIG mistake....do not get the store credit card just to get that one time discount. Don’t fall for this and don’t be pressured by the sales clerk. She gets a commission on this. You’ll end up buying more than you can pay for in a timely manner.
That's a good one! Thanks Mercedes
