    Hope we get a follow up with clips of all these mentioned features in use. I was hoping on an actual DEMO as stated on the title. Connectivity and usability sounds top notch for Focusrite. Maybe I should have waited out my UAD Apollo Quad purchase? But I'm loving LUNA. Sonic comparison between them would be good too.

    This only needs a built in HDX Card like the Pro Tools Carbon. I hope MOTU are watching, I need them to update their AVB offering to allow for dual USB-C ports and 1G AVB ports for daisy chaining and expansion. With the Milan project they should bring out an all-in-one desktop AVDECC controller+4 Mic Ch Audio interface+4 port Network switch. Glad to see audio networking gaining good traction with Dante and AVB. We now have Dante to AVB bridges. We even have AVB to SoundGrid bridges.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah that would drive up the cost for internal HDX acceleration. Dante interfaces are already more than their AVB counterparts because of the additional licensing that goes into the production cost. Presonus does make an AVB to Dante bridge that's been out for a while. I think MOTU should have dual AVB ethernet ports on their interfaces for daisy chaining instead of using an expensive switch once you go past 2 AVB units. I have talked to MOTU about creating a Network like monitor controller unit which would be perfect for Dolby Atmos mixing since the R1 is already being used that way.

      @@eman0828 I think having the processing inbuilt is much better than having a standalone processor. UAD figured this out ages ago and now Avid has followed suit. If you are buying this you probably will also buy or already own an HDX or HD-Native card. I think the added cost of inbuilt processing is something a Pro Toold HD user is already accustomed to. Future interfaces from Avid/Focusrite/Antelope Audioshould just be Thunderbolt with inbuilt processing and Digilink ports for daisy chaining legacy interfaces.
      I'm also hoping for a hardware controller/monitor for AVB Milan with Dobly Atoms support.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EnochGitongaKimathi Yeah but I don't see the point since not everyone is a PT user, nor it would be cost effective for an interface. The Apogee Symphony I/O is already stupid expensive so why make it more expensive than what it already is? AVID designed their own interface like that to work with their own native software products which makes more since if you use PT. I use Studio One Pro myself for everything including my Hybrid mixing rig. I will be adding Steinberg Neundo soon for Atmos mixing. We live in the world of multi cross platforms of different DAWs being used. I'm currently using the MOTU AVB interfaces. I love the flexibility of AoIP interfaces. No need to work with messy cables or hardware patch bays anymore as I can do all the routing and patching virutally through the AVB web control app with the routing matrix grid.

    • @lamenamethefirst
      @lamenamethefirst 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but the I/O capability is much better than carbon. You can easily run an Atmos setup with direct analog outs straight to the speakers. You'd have to get the MTRX studio to be able to do that with Avid and that costs way way more than the Red 16 Line. For a small, single machine room, the Focusrite is really cost effective. And good quality.

  • @eman0828
    @eman0828 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Been knowing about the R1 for a while now. Hopefully MOTU creates some thing similar for thier AVB Pro Audio interfaces which would be perfect for Dolby Atmos opposed to using an expensive monitor controller.

    Hi, is it possible to use this interface via Thunderbolt3 with ProTools DAW, without DigiLink utilized at all?
    and is it possible to use simultaneously Thunderbolt3 and DigiLink (for multiple audio applications, at once)?
    thanks in advance :)

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your interest! The DigiLink connection is just for directly connecting to Pro Tools HD cards if you have them, but you can connect to Pro Tools via Thunderbolt 3 with this just like any other standard thunderbolt interface, too. As for simultaneously using Thunderbolt 3 and DigiLink, there does not appear to be any support for that. I hope this helps and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

    The Clarett+ seems to have slightly better specs on the line outputs than the Red. Less distortion and higher dynamic range by 3dB. Why is that?

    It seems like the only system that works great in a hobby/project studio with the controller and pricing.
    Is the Thunderbolt 3 compatible with regular USB-C? (I am not on MacOS.)

      Its priced reasonably at its price point for a top tier product line for the targeted market. This isn't your low end Prosumer Focusrite stuff. The Focusrite Pro division is marketed towards the Pro Audio and commercial market. MOTU makes the same stuff for their higher end line up that makes similar AoIP interfaces with their AVB Pro Audio interfaces.
