I'm disappointed by his dismissal of the great Charlie Parker. But, there was a gulf between jazz and Classical musicians in those days. Mule must be forgiven.
Concerning Charlie Parker (Coltrane, etc.) Mr. Mule's reaction is hypocritical. Jazz is the sax in suspender belt and fishnet stockings. There, with the vibrato, he behaves like a master of the house who would throw out his maid after having made him pregnant. Between contemporary music and jazz, the choice is quickly made. As for other hybrid music, it hasn't existed for a long time. The sax is "jazz, pop", and improvisation, certainly not classical (apart from studies). With Mule the sax was a specialized worker in Sunday costume.
