    Great advice! Getting a soil test not only helps your yard not get unnecessary nutrients but also hopefully helps prevent local ponds and streams avoid runoff of excess nutrients. Also love the way you always remind us to to blow fertilizer off the driveway and sidewalks back on the yard👍

    Purchased an apple core tool to get my soil samples. Works well too.

    Hi Ryan :) Sooo, I received a probe from Rittenhouse Canada 2 days ago and got my soil samples yesterday. Even after a few days of light rain, my soil was hard and I wasn't strong enough to penetrate the probe below 2 inches down the soil. I got my friend help me, and I laughed and also was shocked to see the probe was twisted and bent lol at least I finally got soil samples for the first time :-) I also ordered a peat moss spreader you were using! So glad you introduced this product as well. It will save my body and time this fall !!! : )

    Used WayPoint for the first time this year and I was very satisfied. Their results are super easy to read 👍

      Did they give you a recommended plan for your lawn (fertilizers, etc.) moving forward?

    I was very satisfied with the speed of getting the results and the customer service Waypoint provides. You and I have similar CEC levels. My ph was high too.

    Ryan, I did a soil test that I bought at an Agway. Obviously not as precise as what you do here. But it showed I was completely depleted of Nitrogen and Phosphorous. I've applied the appropriate fertilizers. When should I conduct another soil test?

    I've used soil savy. Pretty much same information but they send you a kit with everything in it. Same issue, had a ton of phos from the Milo I assume. But I was missing micronutrients so I saw looked up some from simple grow solutions and put that down last week. Great recommendation

    Hey Ryan, my PH was good however my Phosnwas off the chart. I'm gonna lay off phos but I believe it's because of using starter 24% phos on my newly seeded KBG last Sept. Also used Milo which I will hold off this year. Will do another soil test late August to see if it worked. Thanks for the video. .

      The phosphorus will take a while to drop out the soil in most cases...very likely more than a season

    Should I rake before adding the pre-emergent, and then add the fertilizer? And how long should I wait to add the fertilizer?

    I haven't done much searching yet this year, but last year I really wasn't able to find a decent source of elemental sulfer in more that a 10lb bag. Maybe Amazon had a 25lb bag for a short time. I have right at 15k to cover so yea, a 10lb bag isn't going to cut it. So where do you think you'll be buying yours from?

    Curious...how do you think your magnesium got so high? Been using dolomitic lime? Also citric acid can help to bring down the pH in the short term while the sulphur breaks down. I think 1lb per 1k does the trick.

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never used lime on my lawn so I think it must be naturally occurring...I'll be using citric plus elemental sulfur this year :)

    Hi Ryan! I am new to the lawn care and started to learn on my own not that long ago (I know it's in the mid season and kind of late to start). After having some issues in my lawn, I realized that it was the soil that is not good. Water is not absorbing in the soil after the manual irrigation (I don't have sprinkler system). if I water more, I see water puddles and aould get more fungus than the lawn already has. I decided to get soil test done. I don't have a probe, so tried 2 different manual core aerators after irrigation this morning. Nope, I can only get down half of my thumb 😭 What can I do ?

    PSA - make sure you put a phone number on the form. Once they get the sample they will call you for the payment. Like Ryan said, it can be done over the phone. I only put my mailing and email addresses on the form. Forgot the phone number.

    Why was Nitrogen not included? That is too important to soil to not list the results...

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because it is volatile in the soil and goes up and down frequently. Nitrogen is needed every season for lawns to thrive.
