On the Palabok Fiesta, you have ground pork, and crushed pork cracklings, the orange sauce is a shrimp sauce/annatto seeds for the color, rice noodles, shrimp, hb eggs. To eat it properly, MIXED them all up first until all the rice noodles are coated with the sauce, then douse it with LEMON to wake up the dish. It is best eaten with the adobo rice. If you are going to eat a burger at Jollibee, get the Aloha Burger, and get the Chicken Dippers with the variety of sauces, and last but not the least, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich,. You can make a comparison video on that Chicken sandwich with Popeyes, Chic Fil a, KFC, etc, and I guarantee you its gonna be fun.
Damn Meagan fell in love with that filipino spaghetti, she would thrive in filipino birthdays especially with the lumpias and spaghetti that aunties make 🤤
A Short Primer to Eating Filipino Food Hi Meagan - I'm loving your videos! You really seem to genuinely like Filipino food! I'm hoping that you don't get disappointed when you try authentic Filipino food so please read below. It's a long read but it will surely help you get the best experience out of Filipino food. A. Rice and Viands All Filipino dishes esp. the savory ones that are called "viands" are ALWAYS eaten with steamed, plain, white rice. They're usually have the level of saltiness, sweetness, spiciness, etc., that is intended to be eaten with rice. A "perfect bite" is a combination of the right amount of rice and viand that are enough to complement each other. Don't forget to add steamed plain rice to your order! B. Sauces & Dips Filipino food usually come with dips and sauces. Note that these are NOT meant to be smothered onto rice or mix the entire sauce container into the viand. You either dip the food into it (not the rice) or put a small amount of the dip/sauce to the food. This way, you can adjust based on your preference. Filipino dips and sauces usually have STRONG flavor. The common ones are vinegar, fish sauce (very salty), and soy sauce. Some food come with their own sauces, e.g., Lumpiang Shanghai with sweet & sour sauce, Kare-kare with bagoong (shrimp paste with VERY STRONG salty, fishy flavor) C. Desserts Filipino desserts, unlike American desserts are not too sweet. To first-timers, they might feel that Filipino desserts lack the oomph or sweetness they expect from American desserts and sweets. Check this web page for the must-try Filipino food that you can't go wrong: www.zenrooms.com/blog/filipino-food/ Important Notes: 1. Most food in that page (except Kwek-kwek) is eaten with rice.
2. Adobo comes with either chicken, pork or all other protein/meat that Filipinos eat. I suggest try both chicken and/or pork adobo.
3. Sinigang is a sour stew. You might be put off at first by the strong sour flavor but you will get used to it after a while. It wouldn't be crowned "2021's Best Soup in the World" if it's not good! Sinigang is Taste Atlas’ 2021 Best Soup in the World (thebeat.asia)
4. Kare-kare comes with "bagoong" which is a VERY SALTY shrimp paste. The dish itself is not very salty so the shrimp paste is used to elevate the flavors a little. DON'T MIX the sauce to the dish. Just put a small amount with your every bite. 5. Halo-halo is literally "mix-mix" when translated to the native language. This dessert is eaten with all the ingredients all mixed together so mix the entire thing before eating it.
5:55 you actually have to mix the sauce together with the noodles so not only will it taste more complete but so you won't run out of sauce and still have some leftover noodles. (same goes for the spaghetti) But great video! 👍👍👍
The ones you should try in the filipino resto/buffet, adobo (chicken or pork), lumpiang shanghai, pansit, sinigang (this is a sour soup), bulalo, sisig, lechon, then the dessert halo-halo and make sure to mix it really well.
try my favorite Philippine foods. sinigang pork, Menudo, kare kare (beef in peanutbutter sauce), Bulalo beef. For desserts i like san rival, braso de Mercedes, anything with UBE, halo halo. There' s alot more of course. These are just recommendations. thanx
Palabok is made with shrimp sauce and you're supposed to drizzle it with citrus extract... in the US they provide lemon packets, but in the Philippines we use a local citrus fruit called (Calamansi).
As others stated........... the PALABOK (pronounced: PAH-LAH-BOAK) -Mix everything together until all noodles are coated with the sauce -squeeze some lemon on top -enjoy! Better ask for additional gravy for your mashed potato & gravy next time.... I think you'll appreciate it more Go for the Aloha YumBurger or the Double Deluxe Burger.... they're not as basic as the regular Yumburger Thanks again for sharing. More power to your channel. Oh, cute kid by the way!
I love your videos...You should try sisig, lechon, kare-kare, caldereta, Filipino pork barbeque skewers, pancit, lumpia, crispy pata, sinigang and chicken inasal...It's an explotion of flavors...Will be waiting for your next video.

Hi Meagan, you could probably do video #3. Your next trip to Jollibee, upgrade to the Aloha Yum Burger and also get the Chicken Deluxe Sandwich. They have chicken tenders too. As far as authentic, my favorites are pork sinigang, pork lechon kawali, pancit noodles, lumpia shanghai, dessert lumpia (banana/plantain w/ brown sugar) and for breakfast try sweet longaniza sausages.
Hi Meagan, you have to mix all up the PALABOK noodles to savor all the flavors of the meal and if you found a small sliced green fruit that goes with it, squeeze it in and it is called "calamansi". Our local lemon back home in the Philippines where it only grows. It is substituted by lemon if there are no calamansi around the fastfood. As same as "HALO-HALO if you ever encounter this that means mix-mix. You have to mix all the contents in the glass or bowl to enjoy the flavors of the sweet summer treat coz it is good during hot days! Now you are hooked at our famous Jollibee meals! Thank you!
You need to try Aloha burger next if it's available! You like it better than the yum burger because I agree, it's the most basic. There's also one with a chicken burger that has jalapenos instead of pickles. I believe that you would enjoy it too. It won't hurt to try. Also VERY excited for that "trying authentic Filipino food" video!♥️
