Been here since day one! 🎉🎉🎉 My bestie and I always get asked if we are dating/married a lot. We've known each other since elementary school... people just like to put people into categories that make them feel comfortable. Like you aren't allowed to have fun unless you are in a romantic relationship.

Just wanna say I'm always tickled by how excited y'all are about the Cincinnati zoo. I used to be a zookeeper (in another state) and getting to see folks be so jazzed about their zoo experiences is exciting because it means good zoos & zoo education are doing what they're meant to! 🙌
(also getting to gaze at Toadie's smooshy face for the last leg of the podcast was such a joy haha)

I understand when James said he enjoys horror movies, the gore but hates to see real life gore. I guess we just enjoy the adrenaline rush towards horror.

I met my boyfriend on a dating app. Wasn't easy and was kinda random but it's definitely possible. We've been together 4 years last week. Just moved into a townhome together. Dating apps are high maintenance though, it's like maintaining a business email but with un-soliciting pictures LOL. #TeamDayOne

I think the reason is because you guys aren’t afraid to show that you enjoy each other’s company? But when you think about it that way it’s kinda sad if that is the reason because you should be allowed to do that in friendships. While I don’t know if I’ve been here since day one I do love to binge the yeah,maybe podcast 💛

I can totally relate. I've got a lot of guy pals but I just ignore the assumptions if I can. Not always obvious to do, but ah well. It gets tough if a gf of my pal doesn't like him hanging out with me. This has happened a few times over the years and it makes me feel like I'm guilty or something! Not cool.
And same same. I refuse to lower my bar re online dating. It's so hard ahhhhh. It all feels so disposable.

I could not imagine not being friends with men as a woman. A lot of my hobbies are video games and I used to work in tech, which is an industry filled with MOSTLY men. If I wasn't friends with guys I'd have no friends in those spaces 😬

People just like making assumptions and I don't think that will change any time soon. If others don't "get" your relationship it's their problem. Someone who is interested in either one of you will accept your friendship with each other and make an effort to understand and get to know you. Outside of that I think it is great that you can show how close you are and teach others that friends can be affectionate with each other whatever the gender constellation.
That’s kinda our thoughts on it 😊 it’s annoying sometimes but we are friends and that is that!

Great pod as usual. To add to the topic it’s rather annoying when people ask if you’re dating any one in general. At my previous job a lot of coworkers would ask if I had a bf yet. I never liked to answer but I’m polite and don’t like to lie. Still it’s no one’s business really, like I personally don’t know why people care if someone is single or not…

On the dating thing and being friends. People assume you are either a couple or if you finally convince whoever that you are really just friends, then they assume one of you must be gay. It is so f’in stupid. Of course male and females can be friends!

I THINK it's easier to meet people if you are out on your own, because even if you're out with friends same gender you're less likely to chat to randoms? :) That's definitely what I noticed when travelling anyway, when other people were travelling with company there's a comfort that they could just have a laugh together, rather than seek other connection. Been climbing on your own much to test that theory? 🤷🏼♀️😅
