The first situation gives ordinary Singaporeans and the outside world a facade that Singapore does indeed have opposition with checks and balance when in reality the opposition has no effective check on the government; in that situation the government can legitimately profess to the world that Singapore is democratic because voters voted them in so that's the way Singaporeans want Singapore to be. I am not suggesting Singaporeans vote the PAP out of power. I'm just asking Singaporeans to think carefully if you agree that there should be some checks on the Singapore government. To those Singaporeans who are dead set on letting the PAP have most of the seats, I have nothing to say. To each his own. But to those Singaporeans who agree that the Singapore government needs some checks and balance, please take note: just by voting a handful of opposition members into parliament won't change anything; in fact, it gives people the wrong impression of a democratic and just society. THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE EFFECTIVE CHECKS AND BALANCE ON THE SINGAPORE GOVERNMENT IS IF THE OPPOSITION SECURES MORE THAN ONE-THIRD OF THE SEATS, MEANING AT LEAST 32 SEATS in this GE. Please do your calculations when you vote, and think of the big picture not just a constituency.

Juz look at the CEOs salary of local banks, Singtel, SIA, NTUC comfort , govt link companies, MNC, General practioners , surgeons, lawyers, even some popular hawkers , coffee shop owners, insurance agents, were already earning millions. SG ministers earning millions , honestly I am not envy and they deserve it. Even you are running a chain of successful education centres and probably earning millions as well. So I urge you, think of job creation , healthcare , social welfare for the lost , last and the least in our society and community. I hope PSP will give a good fight.
