First look at HomePod Mini temperature and humidity sensors in HomeKit in iOS 16.3

Apple today announced the second generation HomePod to replace the original full size HomePod with improved smart home features. The New HomePod will feature built-in sensors that can be used in HomeKit. Along with Matter and Thread support.
But remember back when it was discovered that the HomePod mini had temperature and humidity sensors. Well Apple confirmed that these sensors are getting activated and here is what they look like In HomeKit and this is what you can do with them.

Great that this is being turned on. Working alongside the radiator mounted thermostats we already have this should give a better reading of the real heat in the whole room.

I’m kind of mind boggled that Apple is just now turning this on. But grateful for sure. Curious as to how it’ll look like with stereo pairs though. I can’t wait for the update so I’ll have a temp sensor in every room lol.

Finally turning it on, awesome ! Those with Accessibility needs get another plus. You have to realize everyone isn’t you. Some have poor eyesight or no eyesight, so this is quite helpful in that regard.

This is so exciting coz I have 2 Minis setup as Stereo for my TV. But also sad coz my stupid ancient apartment does not have a thermostat nor the wiring to install one. But I'm gonna move in the Summer and am Excited!

I updated my phone and HomePod mini to 16.3, but I don’t have temp settings. I saw you said it is in the HomePod accessories section but I don’t have that either. Do you know how to fix it?

I love this and am sorry to say that, for me with 11 HP Minis, this will affect my buying of third party sensors. I was just looking at the new Aqara temp/hum sensor for a few rooms that are still missing these. With the combo of HPs all over and other moveable T/H sensors that will now be doubled up with HPs, I will be able to cover everywhere.
