@@mattcox3373 referring to the difference between the 2010 and older heavy duties.. but I believe similar differences existed in the light duties, they had more towing (by a lot) and more power.. But yea, maybe apples and oranges since this video was about the light duty.
GM really messed this one up. They should have put a turbo charged four in there, that would have doubled the mileage and with the right configuration, no loss in torque.
That's a very good point. My dad owned a Ford, Chevy, and a Dodge now Ram. He said his Dodge was as tough as pig iron and Chevy was a little easier to work on. I kinda see Ram as the bad boy outsider of the group. They said it could go up to 30 mph in electric mode. I've driven a Tahoe Hybrid with the same system and it would leave the engine off until it got to a certain speed or pushed the throttle enough.
Jump forward to 2022 and Ford is coming out with a 100% electric F150 Lightning, Rivian is manufacturing their 100% electric R1T truck, and Tesla will be manufacturing their Cyber Truck. Americans now have a choice of what pure electric pickup trucks they want to drive.
Great concept, but considering you can pretty easily get 18 mpg highway with 4x4 5.3 or 4.8 trucks it’s not that much better. Great if you want more or need 6.0 power and city drive everywhere
@@michaelunger7157, I would add LED headlights and tail lights. Next, I would add a 50 state legal cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust system. Then I would upgrade the factory shocks and add aftermarket aluminum wheels. And all-terrain tires. I would upgrade the factory stereo speakers and add a window tint. Finally, I would add LineX bed protection. Also, I would upgrade the interior to a Katskin leather interior. And add some LED off-road lighting. This is my idea of a work truck that is built for work, play, and a night on the town. Thanks for letting me share.
Mine came with bose speakers. I wonder if the led heads light will allow it to run on the battery longer. The last owner add heats seats and nice alloy wheels. They had street tires on. So I put on Cooper at3s. Last owner also added fender flairs. It's a nice looking truck and a head turner with it being a hybrid. Although I could do with out the costly repairs to the hybrid modules.
@CrashJSTest also the 21/25 mpg is a 2wd refular cab with 4 cylinder, its tow rating is much lower. You can't compare that to a full size crew cab with a v8 and a full size bed.
Diesel is the way to go until we really figure out electrical power. My 7700 lbs 2500HD with 6.6 Duramax gets 20mpg highway, and 15 mixed driving.. imagine what a 1500 would get?
@CrashJSTest also the 21/25 mpg is a 2wd refular cab with 4 cylinder, its tow rating is much lower. You can't compare that to a full size crew cab with a v8 and a full size bed. A 2wd tacoma 4.0 v6 with access cab (not even the biggest cab) is list as 15/19mpg on toyotas website, pretty far away from the silverados rating especially from a smaller truck. Getting above 20 in the city in a full size extended cab is impressive especially when they typically average around 12-14mpg.
@CrashJSTest check again, the tacoma gets significantly worse city mileage. Most peeople drive mostly city miles especially with trucks. Also the tacoma is not a full size truck.
i kinda dont understand this truck, its just not fuel efficient enough. yes 23mpg is good, but combines for 21 mpg which is almost equal to the fords 2 v6 engines and considering that the truck starts at 40 grand, it just doesnt really deliver in fuel savings. they need to push it more
@atgskater14 The straight six was only in the envoy and trailblazer, and they stopped making it in 09. Too bad since it made something like 292 hp from 4.2 liters.
This feels like a retro review already
amen
So true haha. I feel like they’re still filming with camcorders
How about now haha
I had the chance to drive one and it was fun. this is the only hybrid truck/ vehicle I really would ever get as a daily driver
Its been 6 years, I really need a hybrid work truck!!!!!
mixflip 2019
Ram 1500
At 4:19 The driver info venter says in was only getting 11.1 mpg LOL
Chevrolet has balls this trucks never leave Down I have own 11 of them over the years “like a rock”!!!!❤
would love to see the new 2011 tested like this... so much improvement.
They were literally the same truck
@@mattcox3373 not even close, there was massive changes, especially to the chassis on the 2011...
@@Sams911 what was different? 07-13 were pretty much the same trucks, except for a few small changes. Are you referring to the hybrid trucks only?

🤣🤣 like they do now
It’s just stupid to put a turbo 4 in a full size truck. You won’t save fuel.
I don't know why, am a die-hard Dodge Ram fan yet i like the chevy trucks aswell.

all electric power up to 30 mph in a full size pickup . I hope it's true. If it is I say it's a masterpiece indeed
Did anyone notice the part where the IP trip computer said 11.1 avg mpg? lol!
this is a semi hybrid right where the electric motor only kicks in when your idling at a light

Yea, unless they hitch up a boat or something! Because then the range drops so much, that they might get stranded
And how many of them did they sell? I've probably only ever seen like 3 of them on the road.
Not really because they got 20 mpg.
I got one. And it's full of issues at 134,000
@Knowledge it is not. Then at only averaging 16 miles. Since it's a hybrid I have to pay an hybrid vehicle fee.
@Knowledge the worst part is the counts less different Expensive models that need to be replaced

why dont they make a hybris small pickup...that appeals more to regular consumer cause every family needs a small truck .
Got your wish with the Maverick.
I LOVE IT!!!! I WOULD BUY A USED ONE. USE IT AS MY DAILY DRIVER. THEN MAKE SOME UPGRADES!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
What upgrades would you Do?

Dang with gas prices above $5 right now. This is very attractive

well this look better than 2003-2006 but i still like the 1999-2002 silveradoand the 1999-2000 Z71 decals
330 hp for a 6 liter v8 isnt bad, but chevy needs to build better smaller cars with higher mileage
I don’t really like hybrids but if I have to get one, it will be a hybrid truck.

citroen has and will be releasing their hpnos concept as a production car
I bet the sticker price on these were well over 50k after dealer markup
Now it's the lowest model on Kelly blue book

Mines a 6.0 4 door
why they dont try diesel hybrid ?????????
If GM made the 5.3 a hybrid and offered it in single cab, I'd purchase this truck.
Estoy aquí por los comentarios de auto dinámico de la RAM longhorn
The silverado hybrid, GM taking the fore on a technology only to just abandon it and let its competition do it better

As do I, I have a 2013 Silverado and it get 16/21. The green tree huggers will buy it as they think they are saving the world.
Saving some, on gas mpg to boot
Colorado Hybrid?
@Integra0warrior yeah real japanese men
fords crew cab xlt is right about the same price with the ecoboost
60 watt motors?
Mini Motor Man ROFL! Good catch :)
"gov epa estimates 21 city and 21 highway"
AVG MPG on driver info center : 11.1 MPG 😂
yeah but at 22+mpg on the highway you can't complain with that in a 400hp v8
No where near 400hp
i thought they had a strait 6 on this
I'm thinking about buying the 2010 model. If there is anyone outhere that has more information. I would greatly appreciate it.
Did you ever buy one?
The new gas trucks get better mileage than that 😂
Geeze that interior is horrendous... same GM cheap rent interior as the 2021 Silverado/Sierra
i thought that was san antonio!
My Silverado crashed:(
no im not
i got the same truck check it
I find the silverado to be one of the ugliest trucks out of the Dodge ram, ford f-150 and toyota tundra.
P.O.S. Tundra??? LOL! Jealous because Obama owns your truck??
yeah its still an amazing truck unlike that piece of shit tundra
