I guess everyone sees things differently. Quite a range of comments. Do I agree with every syllable he uttered? No. But I found this speech brilliantly organized, emotionally and intellectually engaging and very very heartfelt. Actors are really just people who pretend to be other people. So yes, just being an actor means little. But to me, this is a very smart guy who cares and acts on that caring. I found his message compelling and sincere.

He inspired thousands with that one single speech, all the students sitting in that arena and all those individuals sitting here watching him speak. He inspired countless across the globe by going out there and putting his life on risk to help humanity. His message itself was to help humanity.
You can sit there and yap your mouth about him ''pretending'' and ''not acting genuine'' but the day you yourself can actually make a difference in this world ''pretending'' I will give you a gold medal.

I have long been contemplating this. I know the simulation(s) started many times on earth, and each ended differently. In many cases and in many occasions in our human life, we're just repeating what we have been doing before, so there really is no big deal being underperforming this round for any "new" initiatives we're doing. I do hope this one simulation ends better for all things and all elements.

Difficult but well developed and well delivered gift to the students. Not everything was popular but there’s a difference in class and unfortunately I personally believe that many of those students believe that they didn’t need to listen because they felt that they knew so much more. Just wait until they get into their 30s or 40s or 50s or 60s and realize that what he said was reality, you didn’t have to be full of humor or dropping big names it was reality. God bless all of you thanks Matt. You have not only inspired my three children but myself once again to re-create myself and run into the fire without self pity or expectations. It’s to serve. God bless your family and stay safe and healthy. Thanks for your entertainment. That’s it.

Matt didn't get the joke the audience was making when he said the president turned toward him after saying "turn toward the problem".
Also, he basically said cherry pick my good suggestions, ignore my bad ones. Then judge me on the results. It would be nice if we all that that benefit.
You can tell Matt never really had a job. Make a poor suggestion enough times in a boardroom and see how well it goes.

Thank you very for sharing. Although they all have overcome a great many years of profound self-sacrifices, achieved incredible personal breakthrough progress in technology, wealth, power, and conventional fame to this date.
However, many great men, women, and the whole world continue neglecting and unable to identify some of the greatest, most meaningful, and most needed projects to truly rescue and heal the many internal, desperately illnesses, wounded physical, mental, and spirits of the people throughout the world, not in space or Mars. *** What is it and when?
Very best wishes always, GS.altc, Paideia Academy & Society

Though he may not be running for office, he seems to be deeply involved in political movements. Yes, as a liberal actor he may lean left, but voicing against right, especially if all facts are not presented, and speaking to these young minds at MIT on graduation, his speech, while wonderful when engaging in his own craft of acting, is peppered with bits of ignorance when speaking with politically weighed subjects.

His speech is amazing where he is not there to inspire the graduates to go further, reach higher, not to give up, failure is not to be afraid of but let them know the problems the world is facing, let them acknowledge what their skills can bring to their community, their country and the world. In the days now where Social Media Influencers are earning way way more than researchers, engineers, professors who are trying to solve the worlds problem, thanks to all of them who still are determined to do it. Don't get me wrong, it may not be easy being an influencer, but there are places in the world that truly need the resource to help them survive day to day and people with the right skill to create the solutions are needed.
Great speech Matt Damon, hopefully with your resources and connections, even if you may not have the skill, you still can surely help them.
