Mum and two sisters were Fitzroy supporters, my Dad, brother and myself were Carlton. I still have a soft spot for the Lions as a second team for my Mum who passed on back in 2016.
Thanks to Jack Scully for his many years of memories,1918-1996. That's amazing,A great supporter and seeing so many of those champions he Mentioned from the really tough days. He did forget Kevin Murray had won a Brownlow. Great to hear. Must have been even sadder for the long time supporters when the team went North. Great memories of the Lions.🏉
Kevin is my cousin , my dad took me to meet him the sunday after he won the Brownlow , at Fitzroys watering hole . He was there with some of his team mates having a beer and when i shook his hand , he fell to the floor of the pub . I ran back to my dad and said Dad ive hurt Kevin . I turned around and Kevin was standing with his team mates and they were all laughing . Kevin had a great sense of humour
I always had a soft spot for Fitzroy. They were my second team if the Hawks weren’t featuring. They always gave the Hawks trouble in the 70s & 80s. What a wonderful rendition of the football version of Mr Sheen. The history from this gentleman is what I love about the game. I was very sad when Fitzroy ceased and I wasn’t even a supporter. Imagine how the Fitzroy supporters felt!
Thanks for the great stories & insights Jack - what a memory !!

Good stuff. A classic view from old Australia.
Very Interesting and Enjoyable videoclip. Love listening to the OLD VFL DAYS STORIES!!!!
Excellent video, quite a treasure.
I hope he’d be proud of how well Brisbane’s doing to keep Fitzroys memory alive these days . Roy’s never died haha just moved to a sunnier oval 🤣
The first thing he said was Roys should never have left Brunswick St. and he's right.
I played U19's for the Fitzroy Reds in 2001, maybe Jack saw us play?
