Well, that was a lot of fun (for me, sitting in my warm house)! There were some incredible and subtle views, but also dramatic footage of climbing the ridge. I had to laugh pointing out the features in the all white mountain and sky! That was a grand adventure, needing crampons and ice axe!

It was brilliant John. Full on winter conditions with a wee scramble at the end! Big change in the weather at Ben Vorlich on Sunday though! All the snow was gone....shockerooney 😀

My goodness, I would say that one really needs to be prepared when hiking in this area for sure!! Fantastic adventure!! Look at that "Tea in Valhalla"...what a show off 😎🤣 Love those guys too! Take great care now...Bruce and Otis...sipping my tea in Nova Scotia! lol

Brilliant Paul..😀Loved the way you showed your in hike in good conditions as well👌🏻..Always prefer doing the loop rather than just going up and down the normal route.The snow always brings a smile to my face as well😃

Been up since then but never in winter and not been up the ptarmigan ridge.

Yeah I always think that this is the best route Stevie, I love that we scramble at the top...a big comparison to the last time I was up. We past a load of people on the final ascent and even came across some guys putting crampons half way up the final steep part! Bonkers. Cheers mate and thanks for watching. Paul
Lovely video again Paul, defo the best way up, I usually go down same way, but maybe not in those conditions. Yeh the GoPros can be a wee bit temperamental in those conditions. I love those conditions as well. Feel as tho I’ve warned my peroni or 2 when I get home🤣🤣

Starting from Abysinnia bothy munros, then up to the Saddle, Sgurr na Sgine and Beinn Fhada then weather and fitness dependant, maybe a couple of the Affric hills. I'm back continuing my contract Aberdeen way by mid March for the whole of the season, so you never know I might get my round finished!!! If you're up for a day out, let me know👍

That was a well decent climb Paul. I loved the transition from rain, sleet through to snow. I could sense your excitement and pleasure at being amid winter. It is a buzz. I just put up a short video of a few hikes (3 minutes) my bro and I enjoyed before youtube (would love your thoughts on it). There's a fabulous white out in there to. They are fun and somewhat an altered state experience. Good going. Mark

@@PAADVENTURES1 hopefully next weekend. Planning the 3 north of loch quoich. Have some back up options if weather is better/worse. Keen to get some snow days in but might just need to take whatever there is. Gordon

@@PAADVENTURES1 yeh I think so. Shorter distances cos it’s winter. Planning to camp between them then there is a ridge up the north side of gleouraich that looks similar to the ptarmigan ridge on Lomond actually. Not much info on what it’s like tho.

We could really feel the effort involved in making this ascent. Sadly I think that nowadays I would have turned back long before the summit. Keep making the most of these opportunities while you have the ability to do so. I really liked the views you insert of a blue sky day as the view does look amazing. I also found the use of the route maps useful enabling us to see your progress. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures.
Ivor, thank you again for watching! it was tiring in the snow at the end but absolutely invigorating! a wee bit adrenaline always helps! My intention is to keep going as long as I can! to quote a famous old football manager 'I want to be the fittest man that ever died' ha ha....I don't know if you have seen the nice weather version of this walk but it gives a nice alternative view! Hi Paul, good video looked a bit treacherous towards the top. How much extra time do those conditions add to a climb?
Hi Andy and thanks again! it was a wee bit challenging at the top in complete white out conditions. I didn't do so good with the filming at the end as the GoPro gave up on me....It took us just shy of 6 hours in total. Probably could do this walk in under 4 hours in normal conditions. Some people say that you should give yourself double the normal time in winter? I guess it depends on the snow conditions and if you are breaking trail or not? @@PAADVENTURES1 Cheers Paul that's interesting to know. I've skied a few times in white out conditions, its a bit daunting when you can't see where your going especially if there's a big drop. What's the snow situation like at the moment up there?
There is very little snow at low level Andy but the higher tops have a fair amount...The weather has been changeable so it could all disappear quickly! Light snow forecast for the weekend and minus temperatures on the tops so hopefully it will all still be there on Sunday! Paul.
