While I don't have absolute hate for Ubisoft, this is in exact contrast with them and companies like it indeed. - It would benefit Ubisoft a LOT to loosen up and just cut to the chase more if they don't want to go full EA, as they're already about 90% there. - I know they have a much larger corporation to carry and they're really afraid to stray from their formulas and financial quotas, but they need so much work on the PR-side of things. They're trying, I can tell, the people "downstairs" really do care and there are great talents among them. But it's really like working at an office, with suits that are behind closed doors, if they're even in the same building or at work and not on their yachts. - But their presentation is so tone-deaf that it almost feels like a parody in its own right. I hate how they come across as infomercials or something, even when they have something sincere or good to tell.... It's painful to hear and see and does more bad than good. That's also why I don't hate Ubisoft in general; They're not entirely gone and they're dancing on a fine line (or in a big grey area) and they still have a lot of potential to be good and have great games/franchises. They just need to be pulled into the right direction. But they're very stubborn and keep themselves anchored in that mundane grey area, while thinking they're the French Nintendo or something. Nintendo might be stubborn and consumer-UNfriendly a lot of the time as well, but at least people praise most of their products. Devolver just has much more freedom, as you would in the "indie" world, to do whatever the fuck they want and they're smart to take that advantage and not bullshit around and make it about the products more than the corporate side.
