You should just transition to a full time smite streamer cause video's like this just feel sad and like you are capitalising on the popularity of LOL to talk about smite not that you genuinely care about the part of you're community that plays league(an example here is how you explay the abilities of lol champions more constantly than you explain smite champions abilities for the lol community) Even you're LOL streams now , you just talk about how bad it feels to play this game and it's very obvious you're not enjoying it.

Veteran of both games here. I can say currently smite is in a state that is borderline unplayable if you seek the thrills you get from league. I deleted smite and don’t think I’ll return until major issues are fixed. Im not saying Smite is something anyone thinking to get into shouldn’t. Im just informing you if you play league and go to smite your enjoyment of Smite as a whole will probably be pretty miserable. This doesn’t go for everyone. Some who are sick of leagues formula may find great enjoyment. For example people die in league pretty fast. In smite this often times may not be the case. Even if fed in a late Game conquest match on smite it can be hard to kill anyone unless there is certain circumstances. Again this enjoyment may differ from person to person. I personally like to kill people really fast but if you prefer to slowly kill players in a slower paced environment then smite is for you. I will say smite does have its good sides. It’s a lot more beginner friendly than league in my personal opinion because you don’t die as easily in league. The bundles are also better and you get more bang for your buck on smite with bundles. I agree with bizzle here on that. Now on to what you get out of it long term if you plan to make content or play competitively. Theres one rule to that on smite. You just don’t. While its never easy to make it into competitive leagues. Smite is borderline impossible to make it into pro leagues and if you do manage its extremely underwhelming compared to other mobas pro leagues. Making content for this game also is a little on the weird side. Most smite fans tend stick to their main streamers or TH-camrs. I do respect the smite youtubers and streamers so I can’t say it’s impossible to go somewhere with Smite content. Shout out to my boy Intersect. I recommend checking his channel out he is a wonderful player currently making content on Smite. Intersect has made videos talking about the major issues that plague smite and he does a great job on them. It might be just the veteran smite players in us that like to criticize the game because its not what it used to be. However I truly do believe the game is hurting. Dying no. Hurting very much so. So i will say is smite worth giving a chance? Yes! Is now the time do it? Maybe not….. that being said enjoy what game you want they are both solid moba choices. Enjoy what makes you happy :3

That's a good and fair comparison coming from an old school League player that converted to SMITE in like 2014. Some of the reasons you've listed is exactly why I started playing SMITE and only occasionally came back to League. I would say the biggest reason for me though, is that I like the 3rd person aspect a lot more, since I'm coming from an MMO background and not so much RTS (except for the Age of X games) and SMITE just feels so much more satisfying to me. For example, hitting a 2-man Ra ult or landing a big Thor ult just feels really good compared to let's say, a 3-man Tibbers ult, it just doesn't have that kind of impact for me, probably due to the top down perspective and SFX.
One thing you forgot to mention (and I honestly can't remember if LoL does this) is that SMITE gives free gems every 6th and 7th login and has a viewer store where you can essentially buy skins for free. It's not much but it's something atleast, probably to compensate for the god awful Chest system they have with all the limited skins lmao...
Anyway, very well put together video!

@@excursor4296 also League gives you fragments for whenever you do well with a champion for the first time in the season so thats their way to reward players for free I guess. One thing that Bizzle forgot to mention is balancing, League is so busted all of the time and they take age to try and balance everything, and when they do, they end up changing way too much most of the time, whereas Smite is more concise with their updates, so Smite is better in that aspect I think

The 3rd person view in Smite feels more immersive, and for anyone interested in any kind of mythology, it makes it that much more fun to play, honestly. I played the OG original DotA custom map in Warcraft 3 back in the day, which started the entire MOBA genre, and it was fun and all that, but definitely not as immersive, especially these days when RTS games are hardly played.
As to bug fixing: keep in mind that League is an older game, and also a much more simplistic game in terms of movement and ability placement/skillshots, and all the interactions with those in teamfights. It's a lot harder to fix bugs in a game where it's a 3d style environment than a top-down isometric. Also, to be fair, Charybdis (pronounced Ka-rib-dis) has some unique things in her kit that made things interesting to say the least in terms of bugs. I feel like Smite has more of those issues BECAUSE they try to do new and interesting things with each new god, like with Cliodhna coming up, she'll be the first god to have a deafen mechanic and make other gods unable to hear in-game sounds when hit by that debuff, and she can phase through walls (at a ramping health cost), which no one else can do. I'm certain there will be issues with it upon release, but Smite devs have always fixed these issues and are very mindful of game balance.
The entire Smite dev team and talent team are great folks, and genuinely enjoy interacting with the community and take suggestions and criticism of things into consideration. I played League for a little bit and it honestly felt just like dealing with Activision Blizzard devs: "Shut up and play the game we give you, if you don't like it, quit". Well... I did :P
As for the characters and such themselves, I just don't feel any connection to any of the champions in League. Even reading the backstories and lore and stuff... it's just not making me give a shit, you know? With Smite, I'm a fucking GOD dude. It's SO satisfying to put the hammer down on punks as Thor from up in the air with his ult, and it's fun as hell to be the god of rad graveyard parties with Baron Samedi and give everyone drinks and shit. It's so cool to see the different pantheons I grew up learning about being playable characters in a game. Hauling a gigantic boulder out of the ground and chucking it at people with Hercules is like "SO STRONK" and makes me flex irl lol.
Overall I do agree with most of your assessment, although I still feel like League is more popular just because it was the one that lasted out of the first round of MOBAs, and not because it's doing anything particularly better or different. It's also hard to really full compare the two since Smite is a 3rd person setup with everything being a skillshot, instead of just clickclickclickclickclick.

SMITE devs also occasionally share things like god winrate at different levels of play in different gamemodes to help justify changes they feel are needed to the character. great insight. I myself simply can't feel hyped by league's bird's eye view camera like the way SMITE's more action-oriented camera does. I'm also a jungle main so I love the fact that smite gives me the advantage for successfully ganking from behind them. It actually makes me feel like an assassin sneaking to take out enemies from behind and that's fun.
imagine if SMITE had League's budget though. It makes me feel like only a small fraction of League's gains go back into the actual game, most of it probably goes to marketing or gets pocketed by executives. I like spending money in smite because I feel like a bigger cut of my buck goes back into the game instead of funding the CEO's next yacht.

I will say that the reason, albeit not a great one, that smite takes so long to get bugs hotfixed is due to xbox and Playstation having to approve the patch. That messes with the pc side too, due to everything being crossplay. They can't patch pc since they can use controllers too. That'd mess with the game balance between platforms.

  • @briannitzschke2767
    @briannitzschke2767 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

I appreciate this video. Its a great comparison! There are 2 things I would like to bring up though.
Point #1: You said League has the deeper mechanical experience. I have to disagree wholeheartedly. In League, players basically compare stat sheets to see who wins. (I know theres more to it, but it can feel that way). If theres a fed person on the enemy team, its gg. They just right click on you and you die. No ammount of outplay or smart strategy can stop soneone right clicking on you.
In Smite, fed players have a strong advantage, but they dont feel all-powerful. They still have to land their hits, and you can kite them. Good play can overcome significantly more gold/exp difference in Smite than in League. This change alone makes Smite the more tactically deep game.
In Riot's defense, when I played League (for about 6 years) I noticed a general trend toward favoring skillshots over targeted abilities in each patch. So they seem to agree that skillshots are the more compelling gameplay experience, but autoattacks are still targeted, and they are usually a team's main dps source (i.e. ADC) so, Smite just has more of the more compelling targeting form.
Point #2: I recently tried to get my wife (shes allergic to competitive gaming) into Smite. I, like you, thought that the less complex 'Arena' mode was a great place to start. To my surprise, its not. Conquest (sunmoners rift) is a way better new player experience.
It is more technical, and an understanding of meta is more necessary in conquest, but arena is just chaos. Its 5v5 teamfights from the word go, you get your ulti about 1 minute into the game, and its just nonstop teamfight abilityspam chaos all the way down. My wife was dying with no understanding of why. Just lights flash, explosions happen, she's dead... however, we tried conquest, and she actually liked it. Its more technical, and theres more to learn, but its also slower paced and more spread out. She played Artemis in duo lane and had a good time. Players arent ummediately clashing, and the fights are 2v2 or even 1v1, meaning its easier to see and understand abilities. The laning phase allows her to see her opponents abilities and how they target without getting immediately destroyed by them.
Its weird, but I think conquest is better for new players. That said, arena is a great place to go for experienced players to learn new gods.
    Anyway, thats my essay.

Oh! That's why Smite and any 3rd-person-view mobas (e.g. Paragon, we miss it) because has great balance for both casuals and pros like you said, as well as both skillshots and macro plays are only must for both types of these players, even your wife enjoyed Smite while also has more room for her to learn and improve in-game

Nice video, love to see a fair comparison, you did a great job :)
In my opinion, League and Smite differs quite a lot, I've played both games for almost 10 years now, so I think I can say something.
    1 - Client
League client is just horrendous perform-wise, it's heavier than the game itself, it runs separately, it's extremely buggy. I downloaded League these days and it's the second time I had to reinstall the whole game just because the client wasn't working at all, the first time the client just froze and fully stopped working even with restarts, the second time every time I finished a game the client just blacked out forever and I had to restart the game. On the good side, it is so much better looking than Smite's.
Smite client has it's problems, the navigation is kinda bad, somethings aren't well organized, there are a lot of minor bugs but nothing gamebreaking. There's this bug that is quite annoying that happens a lot with my friends that the queue just get stuck at 0 and you have to restart the game.
    2 - Store
League has direct purchases, Smite has a lot of chests and loot boxes and it's quite annoying. Getting BE on League is HARD, if you don't rely on missions it takes quite a while to save up to buy a 6800 essence champion, because you only get essence when you level (and the average is like 1500) and it takes like 5 level up to get this amount. In Smite I would say it's almost too easy these days, so not that good either.
    3 - Gameplay
Now I would say that both games go even further apart, and it's more than just RTS vs 3rd Person.
In League the most difficult thing is macro play, the whole strategy, when to push, when to do dragon, when to rotate, map awareness, jungle paths, tracking the jungler, warding, counter picking, wave control, etc.
Meanwhile in Smite is micro play. Things like aiming your skills (because almost everything is a skillshot), juking the enemy's attacks, huge amounts of AA resets, huge focus on counterbuilding, bodyblocking, etc.
Note that this does not mean that one doesn't have the other, but these are the focus of both games. I feel like LoL learning curve is quite nicer than Smite's in this aspect, since League champions are simpler in general -- Let's do an adc comparison: in League you click the enemy to attack, in Smite you actually have to aim every attack and attacks doesn't even go through units -- But League positioning and stuff is more on the heavier side.
Item-wise League has objectively less Items and builds, Riot is too safe about their decisions and they almost never try to tip the balance with something more spicy, also the builds itself are more direct and you don't often build to counter your opponents, you build the best build for the champion to try and get a snowball going. Smite on the other side is heavily focused on conterbuilding, there are a plenty of anti-healing (and they stack) items, attack speed reduction items, anti-crit items, anti-tank items, anti-burst items; I feel that it has more diversity too, like there are masks that boosts your damage by 20% but make you take 20% more damage (can be bought only by tanks), a mask that gives you 20% damage reduction but you do 20% less damage (can't be bought by tanks), a item that literally gives you 70% cdr for 7 seconds. Also you can choose your "summoner spells" in-game, so you can directly buy what you need in each situation instead of going flash every game.
    4 - Ranked
I don't really play ranked in both games, but certainly League wins this one, because Riot puts a heavy weight into competitiveness.
Smite, on the other hand, is more casual. BUT it also has the best game mode that I feel League should adopt: DUEL 1v1 noob. It is pretty fun lol
    5 - Bugs
Both games have a lot of bugs. Hi-rez isn't such a big company like Riot, so yeah there's a lot of bugs, but they try. Riot has such a big budget but I don't feel that much of it is converted into the game itself.. I main Illaoi, and for more than a year now her Q animation doesn't work 80% of the time she just stands there where the tentacle slams itself (it's more common with skins tho), and for a long time her E had his duration halved if you hit Rumble specifically. I remember this guy that was a Mordekaiser main and he made a Reddit post listing like 100+ bugs that the champion had.
Generally I feel like League has a lot of inconsistencies that Riot just doesn't put time into fixing. Smite doesn't have these minor bugs as much, but they let some pretty big ones escapes every time lol. When Gilgamesh was released there was this weird interaction that if you kicked someone and he got hit while airbone with some abilities the game would just think the dropkick skill never ended and the enemy would keeping getting damaged and stun until they died lol. When Arthur came out, when he ulted Fafnir in dragon form the game would literally crash. You used to be able to use the jump (that has no gameplay use) to avoid certain skills. You used to be able to ult and enemy with Kumba and Ne Zha at the same time and the guy would be launched outside the map lol. But Hi-rez eventually fixed it all.
    6 - Devs
I just going to say 1 thing about Hi-rez: Fan Content. They have lots of it. A lot of fan skin concepts and memes get into the game, and it's pretty nice.
    7 - Conclusion
League is too competitive that it affects the casual experience, since people tryhard even in modes like URF and Normal Games, so it's pretty boring/toxic to test new champions or builds. But if you like playing to win it's awesome. Also the community is bigger, the game is more strategic, and the learning curve is less steep.
Smite is pretty chill and it has a nice balance between casual and competitive. It also is pretty deep mechanical wise (steeper learning curve). Also It has mythology and the skins are better. But it doesn't have Illaoi so that's sad.

While the chance is barely none existent it would be more pleasant if at some point we could have league and wildrift being brought on the same level. But if I remember correctly wild rift uses unity while league of legends uses their own game engine at least as far as I remember.
But yeah the whole presentation in wild rift is just much more pleasant than it is in league pc. Maybe I am remembering this wrong haven't played wild rift in a while but it also lets you test out champions you don't own.
Though big downside as a league player. Even if you own every champion in League PC you have to unlock all the characters again in wild rift. Which in honesty think is a big fuck you to long time players.

Slight correction in terms of ranked
The MMR gain/loss isn't what makes you go up or down a rank, there's the TP system inside every rank, so for example when you win a game you get some TP and when you get to 100 you go up a single rank. You can win up to 40 TP if I'm not mistaken, regardless of the MMR gain, so it's still grindy
The ranked system in smite isn't good, but the MMR is just the number the system uses to match people, it affects only that, you don't jump from gold V to plat V just by winning 6 games with a gold MMR
Good comparison video tho, it's nice to see the league player pov on the game I've been playing for 7 years

Great video! Some feedback that I think you kind of touched on, but glossed over, imo, is that in Smite every ability, and even your autos, are ALL skill shot, whereas in league, you have much more point and click mechanic. It's been years since I've played LOL, but I remember a distinct difference between the two is that aspect.
I'm not suggesting there aren't skill shots and league is easy because of that difference, but it makes landing things in Smite more rewarding. The is no ability where I click on the enemy character and my sun will hit guaranteed, I HAVE to aim it.
Editing to add: I've played MOBAs since DotA 5.84b on WAR 3 and the locked camera of smite makes you focus and pay attention to the map, as well as depends on your team for MIA calls more. I have, between dota, lol, hots, dota 2, and smite countless thousands of hours.

And I will say that hitting a 5 man Enigma black hole is less satisfying than hitting a cross the map snipe with Janus ult or getting a penta kill using Scylla ult. The "skill shots" in over the top mobas are cool but when literally landing an auto attack as a hunter is a skill shot, it's just more satisfying.

I feel in SMITE items and runes etc are less of an importance and not as overpowered as they are in League. It feels definitely that the items are there just to slowly amp a god’s power instead of blatantly giving them game-changing overpowered passives or actives. I like how there’s more emphasis on using your god’s base kits to outplay your opponents with skill instead of who has the better items. Which League certainly does feel like; items almost single-handedly define a champion’s strength, play style and overall balance.
Not to say that items don’t give a sizeable advantage in SMITE (they sure do) but they aren’t as defining or game-changing and there are multiple build paths to various gods and not one item that is a must rush each game.
There’s def an emphasis on being adaptable with your build instead of League which feels like some champions are locked into the exact same mythics all the time. Gods definitely feel fairer to play against than some of the champions in League, and it’s what made SMITE feel like a breath of fresh air.

Also you forgot that in smite there are voicepacks and commands those are part of expressing your self, and laugh, taunt, jokes, special emotes, clap dance, that are ways to express yourself smite has the most complete in game comunication. "You rock, awesome, Nice Job, I'm the greatest, be careful, wohoo, attack whatever, becareful" etc. Every skin has his unique way to express those commands! On top of that is the global emote to get them salty! xD
I play in console and know every single command, not having a kewboard doesnt limit me at all for comunicating w my teamates.

    Facts which were Overlooked:
Smite does not have as many emotes because there is the option to Emote with Voice Lines, Different Gods AND Skins all have different voices and voice lines (with very few exceptions).
If you are new to Smite you may want to play around with the "VGS" System, you can voice-emote with V and then a pop-up menu appears on the screen which guides you through how the voice shortcuts work,
this way of communication can be used in a variety of ways and in some cases can be a lot of fun while in others it can be toxic the same as pings in LoL because some players can use them in an ironic way "you rock" into "cancel that" is their way of insulting other players,
which is a tad softer in my opinion than other games and can easily be avoided by muting voice lines of certain other players.
Also, something which was mentioned, the Smite Team has started creating some very very impressive alternative skins however they cost way more for the most part (instead of 10 bucks you will be likely to pay 20 or more however the game has sales for the currency so you can get a bulk of currency cheaper and then spend on what you prefer or even take them on the offer to buy the bundles which are more like events).
Obviously the cosmetics in this game are expensive but no more expensive than Legends of Runeterra while also they give more visual value due to watching your character all the time as well as other players watching them from the front (everyone actually can see your skin/outfit) contrary to league of legends due to the camera perspective and level of detail the game posseses.
    I hope those clarifications help.

The new god bugs i think needs a clarification. So unlike League, Smite is crossplatform. Because of this, the devs try to keep every version of the game the same. So, every console, as well as PC, gets patched at the same time. Due to the certification process of consoles, they have to wait for the approval before they are allowed to push out those patches. Hence why it takes longer for certain bugs to be addressed. Overall great video and great content! Keep it up!

And as a Smite fan I feel obligated to defend Hi-Rez in saying Charybdis has been top 2 on most bugged characters released since I’ve started playing. (Not a proper excuse I know)
Oh and as far as overpoweredness, Do champions or gods tend to be tuned in better? (not faster, in my opinion I think it’s good for the new character to come out a little overpowered so as to attract more attention, underpowered gods always have a hard time generating hype and take a lot to get there ie: babayaga)

I think you missed a substancial difference between both games. As we all know, ADCs are the most OP characters in every MOBA, they end killing every other character by just hitting 2 or 3 basic attacks on Late-Game. In League of Legends, ADCs can autotarget their basic attacks on the enemies, on the other hand, in Smite you have to aim every basic attack, which makes Smite Gameplay harder overall.

In league they announce a champion and you have to wait for riot to tell you everything about that champion, but with god speculation and announcements you can immediately look up everything about the god to what sort of character they’re going to be in smite.
One thing league does better is their lore since there’s so many videos that get released where as smites lore is a wall of text and the cinematics rarely match the written lore

  • @eblausund
    @eblausund 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

touching on the whole Ranked shitshow,
Now there's been a couple of different itterations of ranked systems in smite, Now people would probably argue that there is many like probably like 4 maybe, but in reality it's only been 2. The only difference between most of them has been that the devs moved from hiding a lot of values to making them viewable by the individual players.
So one of the 1st system I remember is a bit similar to current time where literally everyone started in bronze 5, at the time they didn't show you your MMR, cause that wasn't shown until like s5 or 6, but there's always been a number, it's just as stated previously it was hidden.
Now moving on from that they changed over to a qualification games system which had you play 10 games and then you'd be placed in a estimated division based on your W/L. (chances are it wasn't solely W/L ratio, but also the order of which game you won and which you loss. The earlier games being more important and the last games being less important.
After scrapping the qualification games, they started becoming more open about how much information was displayed to each individual player, I do believe it was at this time MMR was being displayed. Now essentially there isn't any actual difference between the quallie game system and this one, it's just how much information was displayed, but to those who hasn't critically thought about this. They might have seemed like 2 different systems.
so essentially what ended up happening when we started to see the mmr swings from losing and winning in the 10 first games of a split, people started to realize how much the system sucked. Because you'd be gaining or losing like 200-300+ mmr on your 1st game, then that'd very rapidly decline to like 150-200 then over the course of the 10 first matches you'd be sitting at like 50-60 or so MMR per win or loss at the last game, then over time maybe after 40-50 games you'd decline to 13-20 mmr gain loss per game.
It doesn't really require a lot of thought process to realize how bad that system was, because if you lost your 7 first games you'd have to maintain like a 80% winrate over the next 40 or so games to only make up for like half of the MMR you lost. Which is pretty insane. On the other hand you could also get lucky the 1st 10 games and get skyrocketed right into high diamond while not actually deserving to be there.
Actually I just realized that before they started to show MMR they only showed which division your MMR was in, and that they didn't introduce the actual MMR values until they introduced variance, but the swings and everything was practically the same it was just still hidden. Either way what ended up happening was that when they started to show MMR they also started to show your variance, so what happened was that the community decided that it was this "variance" mechanic that was at fault here. Which is true, but instead of understanding that the variance itself wasn't the problem, but rather how drastically the variance dropped and how much the variance would amplify your gains and losses. The community essentially went to war against variance, and as a result we've reached the current ranked system where they removed variance.
so now we have more or less flat values of MMR gain and losses regardless of how many games you've played as opposed to back in the day where you'd gain/lose more MMR of the first games then slowly over time you'd stagnate.
What should have happened was that variance should take much longer time to alter, while max and min alterations of MMR per game should have been adjusted, so that you'd only gain like max 80 of the 1st game, then have that steadily trickled down to like 20 over 50games or so instead of 300 -> 180 -> 120 -> 90....
It'd be like 80 -> 77 -> 75... with like a +/- modifier of like 3 for estimated to lose or estimated to win.
Current system just fosters chaos. only place that is safe is high diamond+ mmr, and bronze 5 mmr. If you're all the way at the bottom chances are you belong there and only those who truly belong there will end up there, same goes for the really high MMRs.
but anything between is chaotic when you take into consideration that a lot of players is essentially bouncing within like a bracket of +/- 300mmr so like 2100 -1500 or 1500 - 900. so with a lot of players essentially bouncing a bit back and forth between that big of a value difference you have to assume that at any time a player who can hit 900 now and then will have the capability of being at 1500 while a player who can hit 2100 now and then is at 1500 therefor matching them together. Now apply that to all the players between 900-2100 then you get pure chaos.
There is no good regulations for matchmaking quality, at the very least in comparisson to when we had variance, sure someone could get shafted and take unreclaimable losses, or someone get lucky and end up in games that they didn't belong in. The difference here was that if you didn't belong in either of those mmr ranges you'd be able to consistently carry or consistently throw the games for you allies until you managed to climb/ descend to belong.
statistically a majority of high level players wouldn't be suffering that 7-10 losses at the 1st 10 games, in the same way that a majority of bronze players wouldn't be getting carried and get free wins in 7-10 games, so with the assumption of a majority of high mmr consisted of actual high mmr players, while low mmr actually consisted of low mmr. Then you'd have a mix of both in the middle ground as well as mediocre players. Now that the 10 1st games were over the MMR gain/loss would be really low and would continue to sink per game played until a really hard stagnation at the 13 +/- point. With such small gains and losses you lock players into their brackets and only those who don't belong there will consistently ascend or descend.

      tl;dr
all systems from 1 to 2nd last is using more or less the same underlying system with probably some minor tweaks.
ranked system gradually showed more of the hidden values.
      1st system: everyone start b5
2nd system: qualli games (10 games)
3rd system: no quallies (they display your mmr bracket with bronze/silver/gold/...etc emblems) you can also actively see what division you currently are in.
4th system: they now display variance and mmr so you can actively track if your games will be high or low gains/losses of mmr. and what mmr is being used for matchmaking versus your current ranking.
5th (current system): no variance, all matches are flat gains and losses of mmr (between 42-45 per match).
no variance system is pure chaos for middle of the pack mmr players, while older systems were extremely frontloaded and could lead to unregainable losses or you could skyrocket into high diamond of your first 10 matches.

I actively play both and my (mostly nerdy) take on the comparison is like so:
You can view character stats (base stats, growth per level, ability scalings etc.) directly in Smite's client which is really really nice for curious minds and min maxers, in league you have to go to the wiki. However league gives you WAY more info in the actual game, you can see your enemy's stats for example whereas in Smite you can't, you can see the exact timers for objectives and your buff camps which depending on who you ask is a good or bad thing (I see it as a good thing because it frees to you to focus on other things while also allowing for more precise coordinated rotations and movements, in coordinated settings ofc).
Smite has by far the better practice tool, you can choose whichever god you want, you can party with a friend, you can stay however long you want (league only allows 1 hour per session), it's a local instance so if you have potato internet like me guess what even if your connection completely fails your practice session is completely unaffected and you can keep going until you leave. League isn't without some merits though, the practice dummies are way better than the Odin bots because you can give them defensive stats you want, you can put them exactly where you want in the setup/configuration/formation (whatever english hard ok) you want though you're limited to 4 at a time. Loading onto the actual Summoner's Rift is good for just looking around, testing how some of your abilities interact with aspects of terrain (Qiyana being a good example), where to ward and so on.
I firmly believe that league has the better microtranscation system because if you see something you want you can buy it directly, no chests, no weird time gates no weird jank.
You can fully customise your UI in Smite (on PC, you can't on console). You can customise your UI in league but it is isn't anywhere near to the same extent.
It is easier to learn character item/power spikes in League than Smite. When an assassin reaches level 3 you know what's about to happen, when they get a Serrated dirk(AD)/Hextech Alternator(AP) you know you're in danger, when an Irelia gets a Vampiric Sceptre or worse a completed Blade of the Ruined King you know you're in trouble, every toplaner knows to not fight Darius level 1 things like that. If a Bastet finishes a Crusher or Jotunn's it doesn't have the same oomph despite it being a legit cause for concern which is why Frost (a smite youtuber/streamer/ice cube) notes that most Smite players can't read power curves and power spikes very well if at all.
League in my opinion has the better in-game shop experience, recommend builds are updated algorithmically based on high elo performances, items get recommended based on opponents you're facing and their known playstyles/builds (which can ease the process of learning how to counter build). Smite's recommended tab. never ever ever use it, it is an active detriment to yourself. The fact you can right click once to buy/sell an item in league is so nice.
Smite's handling of in-game systems is miles better than league. You'll never hear an average smite player complain about invisibilty, untargetability or mobility despite them being quite potent, in league however go anywhere where there's a comments section about the game and you're bound to find at least 3 comments complaining about the above 3 things and crying for season 3/4 or whatever season tickles their nostalgia. Also smite doesn't have Morgana's bloody 3 second root and that's a win for me, yes it's so bad that I'd rather eat a Nox combo 5 times over.
While Smite has easier to attach to characters (because mythology), league has the far more fascinating ones because holy hell is leagues lore nice once you get stuck in there. Smite does have it's own self contained lore but it is peanuts compared to Runeterra lore.
Both games are way easier to get into than DOTA.

I started whit League when I was 9 years old when league graphics was just horrendous. I never really heard about Smite until fried played it ( League has better media influences, they are well known while you're less likely to see Smite on social media). But then when I find about Smite it was very intriguing. Unlike League, most Gods in Smite were real mythological creatures (U could learn about mythologies. Especially if u like good stories. League has interesting ones but sometimes it just makes less sense than mythology). I agree that Smite is a noob friendlier because off all verities of mods AND LESS TOXIC COMUNITY. Talking about people in these two games is very different. In both games, there are surfers and toxicity but in 2022 I find it much less. I find gameplay in Smite more difficult because of the 3rd person but in a good way. Every auto, "ability" (except buffs and similar) you nide to aim. Unlike in League, you can just press one button and it will do all the magic for you. That expect in League I find less satisfaction because, in the end, it wasn't much skill included to press a button. It takes more time to learn and to master all the things in Smite than in League. I also find Smite more balanced about Gods/Champions. In Smite team, team play is more important than anything. In League, if someone loses lain it's a huge bonus. Because of 3rd person's view, everybody gets an "additional tasks to master". If an enemy ADC is fed all as an assassin you need to do is take a map advantage and take out an ADC. It's more about the coordination of a team to kill other teams even if they are weaker. About clients. It's all sed there is only one more minus for League client and that is pushy ( like if your in the browser or any other window it will, when a match is found it will come in front of everything which can be sometimes really annoying ). About bugs that it was mentioned and game updates. I rarely see a God bug anymore and Smite updates are even more consistent. I remember that they added an item and it was removed like a 2h after its release. So if there are any misbalance they take care of it faster now. One more crucial thing is anti cheat system. In all games there are and there will be exploiters of any kind. Even in League, there doesn't seem like there is any. There is only that in Smite it's more clear to find out who is cheating and who is not. I encountered only a one-speed hacker (no basic attack penalty) in all of my years playing Smite. There are a lot more ways to exploit Smite than League ( still there are scripters in League). I have seen only a dozen exploiters in League thill this day. Overall I find Smite a better game just because of its 3rd personal look and more complexity (than pressing a button). I play mainly Smite I rarely go back in League just because of the sentimentality. If you are a new player in MOBAS I would suggest u Smite because I feel like Smite is a more "modernish" game and League is more "from knee to knee" game. Also from experience, I find Smite servers better than League. I rarely had a server problem in Smite. This was a personal opinion whit some facts included so don't get it, personal League players.

You for making this video. I will say though, not sure if anyone mentioned this, but ward skins that are obtainable are not shown in the profile load out page. There’s many many ward skins you can get if you play the game and buy bundles or work through odysseys or battle passes. Also in my love hate relationship with this game I have found out how aids cc is, since there is a lot of it. Is there a lot of cc in league?

  • @fiflak2000
    @fiflak2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Agreeing in nearly everything you said, except in smite you get a really good value from the battle pass its pretty cheap and once you buy it you will make gems for the next one just by playing the game, you totally skipped it. Also you get free currency/gems for just logging in and for the first win of the day, league is grindy bc you can get like 50 essence a day which is not very much. Second thing is ranked, smite ranked is pretty bad because the game is far more casual than league. Im at 1300 hours and have played like 5 ranked games XD And to the charybdis buggy release, its true but for some defense its the 2nd most buggy release after baba yaga i can think off, usually the releases arent that buggy. Great video!

I've been playing Smite for several years and personally I think it's the best MOBA. I also played HOTS before it, and tried LOL for awhile. However, I think the 3D perspective (instead of top down) makes the game much more immersive and exciting, and the cross platform allows you to play the game on PC or console, which no other MOBA can do.

I love your comparison video! I've only been watching u since u started playing Smite and this is a good video. However I have never played LoL because I personally don't like "top down" camera games (even though I played the sh*t outta command & conquer and halo wars lol) The only 2 things I was going to say about your video is 1: you forgot to mention about the game mode of the day in Smite. They always have some crazy game mode that is played on either arena, conquest, or assault. The one in your video is omnipotence which is one of my FAVORITES, but I'm not sure if league does this. 2: I know you just started playing Smite and it's unfortunate you had to experience a big bug and fix delay on the new God, but I feel like over the past few years, Smite's new gods aren't all that bad bug wise. But like you said they both have their issues.

Ranked used to be better and used to be a sort of league queuing system and they used to matchmake better but due to the top end of smite master and grandmasters wanting to play more the queue time for those players took 10-20-30 ish minutes which hirez solved with implementing this system it’s not great since if u are gold/plat u can get matchmaked with gms due to those players being the only players available and the game wanting to give u a queue. Also the ranked ladder system used to be 20 mmr per win and 15 tribute points and it used to have this thing called variance which worked like this at the beginning of the season u got 100% variance after every game u won u didn’t lose variance every game u lost u lost an amount of it the first wins would bring it down a little though so let’s say you win your first game this would increase your tp gain and mmr gain by a huge amount cus what the system tried to do is place u in your ranking problem is if u got bad teammates or just a bad game it could fuck your entire season just because of the few games with variance so now we have the system u now mentioned where u gain to much to quickly since they never adjusted the like ranked periodes so diamond starts at 2k-2525 it’s always been like that even when they changed the system. Sadly I can’t really blame them they just want everyone in ranked to be able to play and get into a rank where they are happy the system is shit but in the past it actually has been worse. Been playing since closed beta I gave league plenty of tries I just can’t be asked to play it it just isn’t fun to me. I do want to thank you for giving smite a little bit of spotlight on your channel cus I don’t wanna see the game ever die even if it has so many issues.

Top-down isn't just used in RTS. It's used in any HacknSlay, most RPGs, nearly any turn-based game, even Among Us. You can also transition between any moba and LoL way easier than Smite. Further, you have way better overview and intel in league, you can click anywhere and your camera jumps there. In Smite you can't even see what's happening a meter behind your back. So I disagree, for the average PC gamer it's much easier to get into LoL. Not everyone is playing FPS games.
Also, it makes perfect sense to start ranking in Gold - that's the average skill level. This is where most people belong and will end up. If you're below gold, you are in fact worse than average. Gold just isn't "high up there". You don't need to be a 2 year veteran to play there either. When you got to lvl 30, you already got plenty of games in and will do just fine in Gold.
If everyone would start in Bronze, the Bronze players would be stomped by average and better players all day - because they'd have to play through the very worst of players.
