After 11 years, my thumbs up too cause you know how to use the machine correctly and you had a very good pressure profile for this coffee blend

The crema looked pale and didn't have tiger stripes because it's a lightly roasted coffee. Light roasts are less soluble than dark roasts, so huge chunks of solids extracting in one swing doesn't really happen. Also, your crema will be lighter if you're preinfusing because your coffee is off gassing during that stage, and the gas is what facilitates a major percentage of the emulsion. This is actually a good thing because the coffee can extract more fully if it can more fully saturate during the wetting phase. Aka: tiger stripes ain't everything.

Tek..I may loosen my grind on the Vario, as 9 out of 10 times, doing the short 1/3 pump (Fellini) I get no dripping from the pre infusion. My normal technique is to go up slow as you, then hold for an 8 count, then lever down, also going for decreasing pressure about the last 2/3'rds of the shot.
Funny my demo strip (from OE) is VERY hard to read, and never turns dark blue, just sort of darker. Might be the fluorescent lighting.

How come the crema looked pale and did not show tiger stripes or molted patterns?
