Mom's TEEN Boyfriend Murdered Her Four Year Old Daughter, Octavia Aquino, Indiana

- On June 14th, 2024, 4 year old Octavia Aquino was found unresponsive in an apartment she shared with her mom, her mom's boyfriend, and he mom's roommates. She died two days later from complications of blunt force trauma to her head and neck. Her mother, 23-year-old Destiny F. Rhoades was arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and invasion of privacy. Her 16 year old boyfriend, Christian T. Gonzalez, who was reported missing by his grandmother, was arrested and charged with murder.

What's the deal with these moms letting "boyfriends" keep their babies while they are at work ??!!! This is an outrage !
They generally don’t care. I was a single mom and I did not bring anyone around my children until they were grown and even now if I could control their lives as adults, you think I would hesitate to delete anyone who harmed them or basically would have to be locked up if it happened to prevent me taking revenge. That’s just me, though.

I think we need to see this from the right perspective. Christian is an abused child who abused another child. He must be held accountable, but we need to be clear that Destiny was the only adult in this situation and bears the brunt of this.
I stayed single the entire 18 years of my sons life. I didn’t want my son to feel like he had to compete for my affection…. And I stayed single and I gave my son all of my attention and love. He grew into a wonderful young man.

There were a lot of hate towards me and the dad. People trying to say that we failed her. That there was no way we didn't know she was being abused. All kinds of horrible stuff. I don't know how under thought we could know what was going on 5 hours away when all the mother did was lie to us and manipulate everyone.

Maybe I’m just dumb but it seems common sense that if she is having sex with a child she would not protect her child! She in fact was doing very inappropriate things with a child and that child killed her child! It’s beyond madness that this is not being talked about! How did no one protect this baby! I got goosebumps when you talked about the donors recipients that offered to let them hear the heartbeat from their son or the dad who was just so upset to learn the story behind his life saving transplant 😢 I'm from Indiana, and my daughter is going to college in Fort Wayne in the fall. So this case has hit close to home in many ways. Truly a sad, messed up world we are living in. I hope both of the people responsible for this pay for it the rest of their lives. The first thing that should be done is stripping her title as a mother away. She doesn't deserve it. The next should be to be locked up for the rest of eternity with no possibility of parole. It just saddens and angers me so much when a woman picks a relationship or partying over their kids. There are soo many options. Thanks for a very indepth backstory on this. I’ll never understand cases like this. I was a witness to child abuse as a child. I told a trusted adult who then informed their mother. The mother promised us she’d never leave her with the man who did it again. But then she did and it cost that little angel her life. She was 3 and so brave to tell me in any way she could. I have a 3 year old son now and it breaks me to think of her. I used to blame myself for it. Her mother went on to live her life. Didn’t get any charge for it and got the sympathy of others behind her. It makes me sick. I’d be willing to bet money that MOST of the time, the mothers know.

As a mother who lost my daughter December 19, who we also wanted to be a donor (she couldn’t as she lived past the time, that meant her organs were no longer viable)! Cases like this just make me so angry & so sick! This poor baby had her whole life ahead of her! Both these vile things need to face the most that they can!

Then tears streaming down face while you showed the grandmothers posts and her final walk! My heart goes out to her daddy, grandmother, uncle and all the family that loved her!
That final walk footage caught me off guard a bit, it broke me a little to see that. But, it was good to see Octavia had her Daddy & Grandma with her in her final moments & I hope she felt their love 💔

PS: i grew up in a very dysfunctional home. both of my brothers at the ages of 15-16 were not just allowed to but encouraged to date women in their 30’s. One of those women had three daughters that i used to babysit. She did not care about the well being of those girls if it interfered with what she wanted and bad things happened to them because of it.

Over 40 years ago my husband was killed in an accident.His Parents and I decided that he would want to donate his organs. Because of the era of this we were told very little, but a friend worked in the transplant theatre and was able to tell us 1 Kidney went to a young Mum. I would have loved to know more but I am sure he helped many people. I hope you can heal a little more each day. RIP sweet baby girl.❤❤❤

This angel was spared a horrible childhood.
That's not true. She had a beautiful and loving childhood with me and her dad. Had we known she was with him the second time we would of NEVER sent her back to her mom's and would of used all of that to fight for full custody. She was taken away from people who loved her more than words can express! Me being one of them!
It’s almost 300 miles between Fort Wayne and Evansville! This mother was putting a great distance between her living situations which speaks volumes about hiding the reality of her circumstances.
This case was so sad. A good outcome as an organ donor. A little girl 2 yrs old passed away because her heart was to large. They finally found one she passed away away before she got there. This grandma is definitely a grizzly ❤
