    Dave the level of knowledge you clearly have regarding which items need the most attention, due to fair wear and tear or just poor or weak design etc, is very impressive. I’m sure the experience you have gained over the years rescuing these TRs is priceless to many of us far less experienced subscribers.....Sincere thanks my friend!

    I had never thought about using the longer bolts to help with alligning the trans. Thanks for the tip.

    Wow, those are great Power hours I will have to check my pin on the shaft. Thanks for the video.

    Moving right along! You did a great job on drilling that hole. I've screwed up doing that on a drill press with a vee block. Thanks for sharing you expertise on all matters TR.

    Very cool- I now understand the 'pin' situation and it's fix, although that's a bolt to my eye! When I first logged onto the '6-pack digest' back in the late 90's, the clutch type debate was a hot topic. I remember the name 'Koyo' and 'Magic clutch' being discussed, and which 3 pieces worked best together. It looks like that issue was figured out? My father in law's TR6 had a stiff clutch; you had to really WANT that next gear and work your left leg for it!

      I am actually back to work....most of what you are seeing are weekends and weeknights....but, it will slow down a bit I think in the next little while as I try and get some more painting done before it gets too cold in the garage.

    Another great tutorial David, than you. What did you use as your cleaning medium on the outside casing? Mark

    • @cheftush
      @cheftush  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brass wire brush and scotchbrite pads with WD40. Final wipe down clean up with brake cleaner.

      @napierdelticdiesel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used two cans of CRC Brake Kleen on the outside. Did a good job on the case.

    Nice job, hope that bearing fork stands up to time, being drilled at a weak point.

      Hi Dave, it’s a pretty standard practice on these cars. I have not had any issues on my TR6 or TR3 for the past 13 years with this mod.

      Hi Robert, mostly brass brushes, scotch brite pads and wd 40. At the end, I finished it off with brake cleaner as a final clean up.

    I ordered new fork pins since mine were worn flat where they contact the sleeve. I thought about just rotating them, but decided to go all out and get new ones. After I ordered, I found forums where people said they often file flats where they contact the sleeve. Any knowledge on this that you would care to share?

    • @cheftush
      @cheftush  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had no issues...I’m assuming that they file the flats to keep the carrier from spinning? That’s a whole nother discussion...I’ll make mention of when I install the bearing....anti spin pin, vs no anti spin pin....

    Is your term bush Canadian for a bushing?
    I had concerns that your added bolt was too large as it was almost 1/2 the cross shaft diameter and kind of close the the hole for the pin.

    • @cheftush
      @cheftush  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes..bush for bushing...well, the pin I added was the same diameter of the stock pin...the shaft is pretty beefy as well so I’m sure it will be fine.

    Aluminum polish and sealant works wonders n the raw castings. It's best done by hand so maybe not what you're into (vis a vis time invested).

    don't like those cheapo wire insulators. Might be worth it to do fresh terminals with solder and heat shrink.
