I agree with the great Lennox Lewis, if Fury is able to win the WBC strap, it will be historic. He should get all his credit. Now if Wilder wins, people are going to discredit his victory. They are doing it even before they fight. Talking about how furys not ready, hes coming off a layoff, he had weight issues, depression etc. At the end of the day Fury made the decision to fight wilder, so there isn't any legitimate excuses.
I love how Wilder is now admitting he’s not a big draw in his own Country! He’s butthurt by Fury asking his fellow Countrymen on the street if they know him and most of them don’t. Being on the “waggon” for over 2 years will seriously damage your punch resistance, so we really don’t know how Fury will react once he gets hit. While a sub par Fury would certainly run rings around Wilder, we would need to see Fury in a serious test before we can make any accurate assessments.
