It was 1975, my beautiful girlfriend Sue was with me in my bedroom at my parents huge home, (no we were just talking) we were downstairs and my twin brother started playing this brand new song by the Little River bank, It's a long way there, he had it cranked up, he yelled for Sue and I come out and listen to it, we were all just pumped up at this new incredible song. It's been almost 50 years since that day but in my minds eye I can still see it all like it was yesterday, my wonderful girl Sue left me 4 years later for another and I lost my dear twin brother to a robber in 1985. I sit here alone and I remember the good times of yesterday, it's hard not to cry a bit as I think back and how much I miss those times. 😔
The self-titled album for which this song was Side A, Track 1, was released in the US in 1976. Almost 30 years later, THE REAL LITTLE RIVER BAND (a/ka/ Birtles, Shorrock and Gobles) sound as good in 2003 as they did in 1976 (maybe a tad stronger because of age and maturity). Birtles, Shorrock and Gobles made the best music ever, both melodically and lyrically.
This is the pure Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sound. These wonderful songs never get old. You get glued to listening to them all the time, because it's the way music should be. All these great legends really know how to put a masterpiece together. I would wish all these original Little River Band members got back together and toured once again. That would be so great!!
MR GOBLE im 62 and you gentlemen have been my favorite since i got my first mode of transportation at 16 a 1965 chevy pickup and someone had added an 8 track under the dash the first 8 track i purchased thru the RCA record club had this song on it and i played this song so much that id sing it in school and could even sound the switching of the 8 track in the middle of the song ,so with that i want to thank you for the memories of the song remembers when i dont think LRB gets the gratitude you deserve but you wil always have my loyalty
This is the most incredible song and performance of it. I’ve played it for years when I feel down in the dumps. Thank you so much Little River Band for lifting our spirits over the years. It’s not just about playing these songs. It’s about the souls where they came from. We know who the real ones are. I can’t thank you enough for lifting all our spirits over the years!
@@normatible9795 Agreed! I was a child born and raised not far from Macon Ga. I grew up on a steady diet of Allman Brothers, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Dixie Dregs and Molly Hatchet. But the Little River Band was certainly the added spice that added the flavor for that era. Today’s music is simply tasteless and bland drive thru fast food. Will we ever have another era of Boz Scaggs, Billy Joel, Chicago, Boston, Kansas, Heart, Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder like we had back then? I really doubt it. I miss the “good ole days”.
I'm lovin' the small changes in it.....some new inspiration from some new musicians in the back....truly the greatest under rated song in history!!!! Proud to have lived in the time of LRB!!!
It's not an original LRB song, written by Goble, but first released by the band 'Mississippi' which he and Birtles were members of. th-cam.com/video/gjmB1l6RCN4/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Graeham. This version is a damn masterpiece. So thankful these three got together after all those years. This full DVD is fantastic (same quality as Eagles He'll Freezes Over). These guys have brought us so much joy. Boy, if there's anyway they could lace them up one more time... :)
I've seen Glenn perform twice. Once at a corporate gig in 2004 or 2005, give or take. The second was at the amazing little venue 'Lizottes', run by the brother of Mark Lizotte (Diesel) a name Aussies will be familiar with. The place was tiny, seated 100 with a stage that barely fit 3 musicians. Glenn just sat there and belted out LRB classics and his own songs, telling stories in between. An amazing entertainer. I own this DVD and it is amazing. The theft of the LRB name is a travesty but it is what it is. The name is much less important than the musical legacy this band has rightly earned. Thanks Graeham.
Love this song. We do a 215 mile bicycle ride every year and this song is played at 3:00 am as we prepare to leave. Perfectly describe our ride. Gets us stoked. Thanks LRB(the real one)
Whoa! This is just AWESOME! Thanks so much for posting. Best harmonies by any band that didn't consist of siblings. Always and forever, YOU are the Little River Band.
Such beautiful harmonies, Little River Band lives on. We had the best music back then. When I here LRB songs it reminds me of good times, thanks guys for being there with me, God bless you,

Been listening since I was a kid in the 1970's. Laying in the bed late at night, with my Koss headphones plugged into my Pioneer SX-780, listening to the harmonies and beautiful musicianship lift my soul, mind and heart into space. We know who the REAL LRB is Graeham. It's not the posers who stole your band name and music, that's for sure. They should be booed off the stage every night, or not be allowed to play YOUR songs. Then they wouldn't have any music worth a damn to play, would they?
Sheer & utter class from the best Australia has to offer. I think we all agree, absolute legends. Wish we could turn the clock back so we could see them play again & have that feeling of being together……
This was a great concert, and I cant remember why I wasn't there. A mate tipped me off to the DVD and it was fantastic to watch/listen to the old songs performed and recorded so well. In fact with this band it may be the best you will ever hear these songs performed by BSG. Back in 1975/76 going to a live performance in Melbourne was a real treat, a step above the average band, and this of course was reflected later in the US sales/concert tours.Very Eagles like in what you heard on record was what you got at the concert
Really-really great stuff. I'm having flashbacks to the Little River Band. You wonderful folks still have it, even the new folks did a super job. Thank you for a great performance, it really took me back in time. Be well, all of you.
Just a beautifully crafted song with great vocal harmonies, groove and solid guitar playing. They may look like the corporate bosses are up onstage at a Company outing 😂 but these are highly successful and professional musicians from Australia and have some great hits and this is surely one of them. Long live the Little River Band 🤙🏽♥️
These guys check ALL the musical boxes and have for decades. I listen to them almost daily and have NEVER grown tired of their brilliant lyrics, melodies and harmonies. Absolutely fantastic!!
Superb vocals that transcend time, with the melody, rhythms and syncopation I remember from the 70s as a young kid. Still fabulous in 2024. I still play LRB when drving on road trip. So cruisey!
Glen,Beeb and Gresham were and always will be the heart and soul of LRB. Songwriting and harmonies are amazing! Had the privilege of seeing them perform up close back in the early 80’s. But this band backing them is so amazing! The “people” who sued and got rights to the name can’t hold a candle to the original 3
Un. Believable. That's some top notch sangin' to go with some stellar playin'. No wonder I "borrowed" this record from my sister and never gave it back.
Love it. Simon Hosford complements Ric Formosa's guitar licks very well here just as did David Briggs use to as well. Just a spectacular performance Graeham by you and everyone here. ~Lon
Simon seems like a fantastic player and he has great tone. But sadly for me, his lead guitar is too lush and over-processed here. On the original recordings, Ric's lead playing cuts through because he is using a much cleaner sound. Ric's using the single coil pick ups of his Strat with a little bit of overdrive and I guess some compression here and there. Ric makes his Strat scream and shrill like a human voice wailing in the dark. Simon's sounds warm and fuzzy in comparison. How wonderful would it be to see the early members of the band play this song live with Ric and David front row, centre. Thank You Guys! Thank You Graeham!
Holy shit, just discovered this gem a short while ago. Thanks for answering my question (the one I was going to ask) about the guy wearing the beanie and the snakeskin Charvel strat.
Was this really from 2003, one of the best groups ever from their former guise to BSG, still up there as the best with unrivalled harmonies. Still owing it in 2025
SO GOOD! The maturity and surety of this presentation in some ways far outways the youthful pop flash and production of earlier years. Still singing so well and such great songs. EXCELLENT!!!
I don’t care what legalities are...this IS THE LITTLE RIVER BAND !! What an amazing sound they achieve from three amazing vocalists...
This is impeccable. So glad I found this track/performance.

Yes very very good. Like I said Little River band, ambrosia, Pink Floyd, and the group Player
