    I have a question for you, what instruments do you play and how long?
    This was a real blues rock masterpiece and a carbon copy of Garys work, so nice and relaxing, charging your batteries and fit for a friday fight. The tone switch you normally do by switching from stable to the neck pickup but thats hard with one pickup its some effect he use, not sure what?
    Thanx for your react!

      The only different is the sound of his guitar, it's not the deeper les paul humbucker sound.

    • @martinkasper197
      @martinkasper197 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your can also have this effect with an Equalizer or a Tone Filter

    • @KentLundberg-vb9hb

      @@martinkasper197 I never had a guitar with only one pickup so never had to use more than my pickups, but sure a equalizer can do it!

    Hi, OldSkuleNerd. Thank you for your reactions to Tommy's cover! Well, I'm happy to ask questions, but you didn't say how it could be before... 😃
    I would like to know if the room you are sitting in is some kind of computer store. There on the shelf is the old Atari logo etc... Or is it a retro toy store?
    Or it's "dad's private room" with everything which is dear to him? 😄😆 Or what is the weather like in Louisiana at this time? Or why do you paint your beard white on both sides of your face?
    But enough of the joke. One day you could make too a "OldSkuleNerd: Behind the scenes" video.
    It would be great if you could actually do the real interview with Tommy. 🙏 Have a good trip!

    Since I never heard this song, I was very surprised that I knew it. It seems that when Ritchie Blackmore wrote his song about Jon Lord, Carry On... Jon, as knowingly or not borrowed from this song.

    • @KentLundberg-vb9hb
      @KentLundberg-vb9hb ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right, some parts are very similar, but blues songs are very similar to each other, is the same structure using three chord most of the time.
      But it is disturbing close to Garys song, Ritchie is close to 80, is he getting senile?
      I dont know, he was my first guitar hero, and I have learn so much from him playing the guitar.

    • @larteonceagain
      @larteonceagain ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KentLundberg-vb9hb Nah, not senile yet :-). And he has always been quite frank about he's "thefts" and influences to song he has written. Here is what he said about the song:
      "We were snowed in ... the engineer and myself, the producer, we had nothing to do. I said, ‘I have an instrumental I’ve vaguely finished. Do you want to try it?’
      "I wrote it on the spur of the moment. I had a very melancholy kind of tune. Then I started thinking about Jon. I thought maybe we should do an organ part at the end, as a tip of the hat to Jon. Pat Regan is an accomplished organist. We put the organ sound on, and off he went. I guided him on a few things, like riffs and how Jon played syncopation with his right hand.
      "It was a throwaway idea that turned into something. It was something to Jon, a way of saying thanks for the years. It’s hard to talk about, when someone says, ‘What did you think of Jon?’ I’d rather play a tune. We wouldn’t have put it on if we hadn’t been snowed in. Maybe Jon caused the blizzard."
      But altough I never will be able to play guitar, Blackmore for me is maybe one of the most underrated guitarist, but that really goes for Purple also.
      It might just be a fluke.

    • @KentLundberg-vb9hb

      @@larteonceagain What is his thefts, never heard it in his music or read about it.Well of course he did some Bach and Beethoven stuff. But I know that his fav band is ABBA haha yes he said that in a interview.
      A friend of mine he was 13 saw Deep Purple in Copenhagen 1973 and Ritchie smashed his Stratocaster in two pieces and throw the body right in the arms of my friend and he bought a new neck to it, he still play his Ritchie guitar today.

    • @larteonceagain
      @larteonceagain ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KentLundberg-vb9hb And wow, your friend really hit the jackpot. And ABBA, yeah that cones from Rainbow. Obviously one incarnation said before a concert that their favorite group was ABBA :-). Do you know that Blackmore's Night has done three swedish covers? Nordman Vandraren, Rednex Wish you where here and One More Time Highland. And according to Don Airey, Agnetha Fältskog approached Ritchie for a collaboration but nothing came out of that. Jon Lord on the other hand wrote a song for Anni-Frid, and they performed that several times live.

    • @KentLundberg-vb9hb
      @KentLundberg-vb9hb ปีที่แล้ว
