The 6-time Major Champion talks how easily the professional game can improve, if Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus is the G.O.A.T. and his favorite on-course gambling moments.

My God - 84 with the mental energy of a wild colt stallion. Unquestionably the most entertaining and loved personality in the history of the game. Huge long-time loving admiration for you Lee - the world's greatest golfing God!!
Agree with previous comment on the need for a Hollywood movie about this American golfing legend. Needs to be done pronto so Lee can enjoy it with all his loving fans!

Please stop pretending that you know golf, I know all the major champions and the people you mentioned are not even in the top 1,000 of golfers. Go LIV. I'm a huge supporter of anything new in golf. The PGA Tour, and its players are boring as hell to watch. I grew up watching Lee and Chi Chi. Time to bring some fun and emotion into the game. That's the real reason no one watches golf on TV, and no one is talking about the lack of entertainment.

Honestly the PGA tour wasn't broken. It's simply that someone showed up with not one, but two dump trucks full of money. It reminds me of when in the late 80s early 90s government subsidized steel companies dumped their product into the markets at a price less than the cost of production. The existing market based manufacturers had no chance.

I understand the miney, but to me it's a matter of making a bunch of millions on the PGA Tour and a truckload of millions on the LIV. What the LIV player is forfeiting is competition at the highest level. Ask an MLB player if he'd take a half billion dollars to compete in Asia and I doubt he'd take the half billion and run. So, if a golfer is struggling or is late into his career on the PGA Tour take the money, just as Mickelson did, but I don't understand Rahm's decision. He would have made millions and garnered esteem in the PGA, but he's just another guy on the LIV Tour with no TV exposure of note.

    -25 is ridiculous.
I much prefer seeing a winner -6 than -20. Rough should be a penalty like the US Open. You land in the rough, you should have to punch out, not hit the green.

Tour sponsors are business entities. The PIF is like a foundation for elite golfers. None of the players signed by the Saudis "deserve" that amount of money. They are all soon somewhat forgotten in the US. They lose the week to week exposure of the Tour. Cam ... Smith. Brooks won which major? Sure they're happy with the money.

I also played Tennison as a young novice and I too was able to shoot 64 or 65 on the East course, on the front 9. And I could go as low as 60 sometimes, on the back 9. I preferred the West course since it didn't eat as many balls as the East side. LOL.

Yeah I feel you. I've been playing and watching golf since 1972. I don't watch pro golf any longer except maybe some of the majors. Those guys are all mostly clones of each other like they've been stamped out of a machine. It's very bland and very stale. Even the commentating is less analytical and less technical and more captain obvious. I miss the old days when pro players had unique and interesting personalities. There are no Lee Trevinos anymore. I can't think of one single player right now on any tour that has that electric connection with the galleries like so many of the personalities from back in the day.

Is baseball going backward with wooden bats? No they have a field of a certain size and can compare players and don't have to build larger stadiums. At some point, St. Andrews will be too small. Why call a hole a par 5? It's now a par 4. Some par 4's are now really 3's. None of the courses being played are really played as designed. It's not the same game. It's the long drive competition. The courses are all too short. It's -20 in every tournament. It was more fun when Lee played. Thanks. A great interview. We love Lee Trevino!
