I watched the battle of Nuremberg first hand. It was brutal. I remember people saying the game wasn't going to reach 90 minutes as there weren't going to be enough players left. But then a while after I learned about the battle of Santiago.

Honestly my biggest upset was 2014 semi-final against Brazil and Germany. Before first whistle it was like "Damn, it will be great show" and great show that was. But only from Germans who just destroyed Brazil at Mineirao 7-1. I saw it and I know that I will NEVER see something like this ever again in my life. Two great teams and that score. I thought that 5-1 when Netherlands played against Spain was insane, but that was just a cherry on the top

You should have included 2010 World cup's Eng v Ger match when Frank Lampard's goal was disallowed 🚫, also 1998 World Cup Arg v Eng match where David Beckam was shown off red card 😳 which remains controversial as well as in 2002 World cup Portuguese player Pinto was sent off during a group match, but later banned by FIFA for punching the referee.

Top 3 (In my opinion):
1. Zidane's Headbutt
2. Hand of God
3. Chomping Chiellini
This was a tough toss up, especially with how insane these moments are in the world cup. 3rd spot was between Chomping Chiellini and Dodgy Calls, in the end, I went with the biting incident because of how bad the incident was and the punishment he got. And the top 2 were tough to decide, but it was the headbutt that takes the top spot, even the Hand of God is the most famous moment in the World Cup for all the wrong reasons, but Zidane's headbutt was so shocking an unexpecting that no-one would see a headbutt incident in sports history.

You left out the David Beckham foot flailing vs Argentina in 1998 and the Frank Lampard disallowed goal in 2010...
Mind you, VAR was not in place in 2006 when ZZ was expelled and only when the four officials at the match saw the replay (illegal but accurate), then they gave him the red card...

3:29 - The only bad part of the Battle of Nuremberg was that it didn’t go into extra time!! Also imagine the carnage that Pepe would have done in that match had he been named in Portugal's 2006 World Cup squad (Pepe wouldn't make his debut with the Portugal National Team until November 2007)
I’ll never forget that iconic image of Deco and Gio van Bronckhurst sitting next to each other (they were club teammates at Barcelona at the time) on the sidelines watching the match after they both got sent off.

Although it wasn't technically during a World Cup match, but center back, Escobar's murder after Columbia's 1994 loss deserves at least a special mention
in USA 94, Mexico and Bulgaria met in the round of 16, one of the posts that support the net fell and the entire goal had to be replaced, I don't know if that counts as "insane" but it's something that doesn't happen normally.

It's actually overrated.
The game itself wasn’t all that exciting. It’s the behind the scenes that makes it special. Brazil were arrogantly confident that they were gonna win. They printed newspapers declaring them champions before the game even kicked off and had parades among other festivities prepared as they were certain they would win.
Brasil Germany is still the greatest game I've ever watched, and I watch football for more than 24 years (ever since I was less than 1 my dad was putting me to watch football). I witnessed amazing games, shocking ones and that one is still the greatest. Absolute madness

As a Brazilian, I have forgiven many things in my life, but this game in Mineirão is taking more time than I thought it would. It even changed my perception about who is our greatest nemesis in football since I don't consider Argentina having that status anymore and I don't care if they have won their third World Cup star because they still have to win 2 titles to reach Brazil while germans only have to do it once more. Even though it´s been gone 8 years since that, there's no other game I'm looking forward to watching like this rematch against Germany on a World Cup stage. Unfortunately, it didn't happen this year in Qatar. And the reason I say all this, as I see, is because I have realized that what Brazilians miss the most is not just winning again. It´s also about having our joyful way of playing the game once more respected by the international community as it once was during old times. That 8th of July, 2014 affected our love for the game and the national team knows that. I have 21 years old and never felt the happiness of having the Seleção winning a World Cup. I really hope we win in North America again. It's one of my greatest desires for sure.

I STILL laugh at that 2014 Brazil Germany match. I got ditched at a bar by my Brazilian friend because he was so upset. I still go back and watch it sometimes.
And I am STILL shocked about that match. It was like 1:1 000 000 chance for this to happen and...that happened. I had to watch replays and rematch, cause between goals at 3-0 and 5-0 I had to go to toilet :D

I’ll never forget that match between Germany and Brazil I was working at my family owned business while watching the World Cup I couldn’t believe the five goals Germany scored before halftime my dad and older brother were in complete shock when the second half started and they scored two more goals my brother joked that they should make it ten to nothing after the game the internet became flooded with jokes about this game
