I'm a big Panga fan and I lol'd when he got up-buttoned twice, but he made a fantastic comeback and was on Shoujo's level near the end. Fantastic team!
She was the MVP for me during the SMW relay

I came here to watch this on the strength of streamers like Carl, Juz and Panga, but MASSIVE props to Shoujo - never seen her content before, but she was absolutely the MVP of this event!
What a great discovery Shoujo has been, didn't know her until the SMW relay race and she excelled, same with this one. So happy for my boys Panga and CarlSagan, you three on a team it was almost unfair to anyone else. Loved it!
the problem with SMM2 competitions is that everyone in the community is too likeable so I don't know who to root for :S

Shoujo is awesome. I watched the other race before this one and she is the standout in both plus having the yoshi hats is just the cherry on top.
Whoever put Shoujo and Panga on the same team, you're cruel and unusual and we love you.
It's always dope to see Aura in an event like this. It's inspiring how good he is at mario. Shoujo really surprised me, didnt know her. Definitely gonna check her content. The levels were awesome too. The legends and pioneers panga and carlsagan there too. Invictus creator himself there too. What a great segment.
30:16 fun fact, Dan Salvato (the donator) is the guy who made Doki Doki Literature Club, and one of the most famous Super Mario Maker 2 levels, Lethal Ejection.
Shoujo dressed as a Yoshi for both races because she knows she has to put the team on her back and carry them to the end of the level.

The hosts did a really great job providing the play-by-plays, I kind of almost forgot I wasn't listening to a pro sports commentary.

This was a fantastic race. Lots of close neck and neck situations and the adjusted format that meant it was any teams game at the end made it a treat to watch. Both teams had some fantastic players, and some really clutch plays, but the winner takes it all!
Carl!!! Watching him run Yoshis Island is absolutely beautiful. And his explanation of all the technicalities of the run are what got me into watching speed runs!

These races and levels are always awesome to watch. All incredible players too.
I can safely say that we're seeing a generational transition. All the runners I watched all these years are getting older, retiring, settling down. But that just means a new group will step up and find new tech, new optimization, and new memories.
9:00 is what I love about high level Mario stages. The "universal language" of skills, tricks and hint markers are so good that they can legitimately be sightread by a good player.
I've only seen Shoujo play Carl's troll levels, I had absolutely no idea how cracked she is at the game holy shit

Hadn’t heard of Shoujo but she definitely helped team Face! (Although her ‘hat’ is a tad treacherous as it is showing Yoshi’s face as a hat!)
For those concerned about the video freezing around 9-10 minutes in, it only happens on that one level.
Hearing Carl laugh in the background after Juz is said to be able to win if he "Just does better" in the introduction is 👌 incredible

I'll leave a similar bit of feedback on this one as I did on the SMW race vid. Carl even touches on it, that it's a shame that we don't get to hear the team discussion mid-game. The announcers did a great job to explain a lot of the basics to the folks who are unfamiliar with MM2 mechanics. But it would be nice to be able to hear what the teams are saying amongst themselves.
Think you could set it up easy with the very headsets they used in the post-game interview. Just have every contestant wear a headset. Have three separate channels setup: 1. for announcers only, 2. for Its A Face only, 3. for Its a Hat only. Then allow the announcers to switch the audio to Face/Hat/Neither as they please. Feel like it'd be more engaging to be able to hear from all the players at certain points.
