you're like a mad scientist haha... appreciate the time youve taken to figure this out...... one little tip i was taught too many years ago to help prolong plugging up the grinding wheels, run the saw into a fresh cut that or clean chain in the parts cleaner than blow off dry with compressed air... it's the residual bar oil left on the teeth that plug the wheels up prematurely
That is what I was thinking too, when I saw the black. I have a little plastic coffee container filled with old gas, and it has a lid. Throw the chain in for a minute, wipe it off, and then grind it. No more black or burned edges. Then, throw it into another coffee container with clean 30 wt oil for a little bit. Works real good.
Excellent repeatable process. I have seen the Stihl grinding wheel and they relieve the edge of the wheel. I get great results at 90 degrees as well. There's looks to be about 100-110 degrees. Nice video.
perhaps a boron carbide or boron nitride dressing stick would give a better grind....and possibly some.type of a coolant system to keep the heat down???maybe a small pump with a reservoir, and a automotive washer jet nozzle????
You will need to set grinder to 75 deg to put on a 15 deg angle on the wheel. Your goal is to add up to 60 deg. 15 + 45 And yes my grinder goes to 40 deg

An awesomely informative video. The detail on the angles and setup of the grinder was excellent. Many thanks!

Nice video! Thank You!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked!
I am running into the side angle on the wheel plugging up fast on the tecomec 3/16 wheel. I ordered a oregon wheel to try.
I do feel the Oregon wheel is better, stays clean a bit longer
My Oregon 620-240 tilts to 45 degrees, so I have to put 25 degrees angle to the wheel. Am I correct? Are you sure that yours tilts only to 40?

Hi. Is it possible to dress the stone and adjust that kind of Grinder for Sqare Ground chains aswell?
Regards from Denmark
You can purchase a square jig attachment for around $400 then you can square grind chain. I never did it so don't know how good it is
what is another way to get rid of that burr?
You can use a hand stone
Geeze !!!
Can semi chisel chain be ground the same way? as my semi chisel doesn't seem to be working out with the beak. Thanks
What is width of wheel?
3/16
@@johnstonsaw Thank you!
@@HuckThis1971 no problem. I used a Tecomec grinding wheel and I don't like it, plugs up faster than an Oregon
yeah not spending 3 hours to grind a chain.
Ya it doesn't take any longer than round chain
Good video well have a go well explained 👍
