Floor saved Nightwish's career and Nightwish saved Floor's career. They were both chugging along ok but when they joined forces (so to speak) Nightwish as a whole just launched into a whole other stratosphere. And to see how humble and grateful Floor is here just shows what an amazing human being she is.
Floor and Troy are both special and they both were a good fit for NW. The band is so happy now, you can tell they enjoy each others company on and off stage. I remember seeing them with Annette and at the end of Tarja, they just looked miserable at those periods in time. Floor's persona is a force to be be reckoned with and she has a massive stage presence, that is something I don't think Annette or Tarja ever had. I won't stir up the pot about which is a better singer, but I will say that Floor is who NW needed to move forward as a band. I will say that when I first heard Endless Forms Most Beautiful, I was wondering if this was the right direction for NW. Well I may have said to myself "WTF is this?" But on the about the 3rd time through the CD, it finally clicked and I was like WOW! I realized what a genius Tuomas was for composing this masterpiece. While some people will never get the majesty and brilliance of EFMB, they hopefully will be the minority. Great band, great future ahead.
I was the first album of theirs that i got.....I am a relatively new fan but oh how they have saved my sanity...i can say i like all of the vocalists they have had but pref is definitely Floor....She just interacts with their audience sooo much better, and turns a concert into a journey.
I discovered them last year and I watched them wit Tarja and Anette. Tarja acted like a star with a stage band with no connection. There is something with Floor that clicks on me. She brings so much soul to the songs it’s crazy. And I love the connection with the rest. The way she waves at Tuomas in Alpenglow and when he smiles back. They are really happy now, and I love that.
I saw Nightwish with Floor at that concert 3 1/2 years ago....and saw Annette's last show 2 days prior in Salt Lake City. I'm glad to have been one of the very few ( if not the only one) to experience that transition as a fan., and I do love them both!
I was watching "Please Learn the Set in 48 Hours" again the other day and I would love to seen that made into a full on movie ending with the Wacken set. Watching that whole tour unfold on youtube in a series of live shows and seeing Floor grow into what is in my opinion the best signer for what Nightwish has becomes and continues to evolve into was magical as a fan.
Bro Floor isn't just the best singer of Nightwish. Floor might be the best female vocalist we have ever seen in rock/metal, and I don't feel like it's hyperbole to say that.
I was right in front of Tuomas and at the end of the song he looked at me and smiled when he saw me, literally just ripped of my emotions. I think knowing that he is able to have such a strong impact on people with his music gives him a great feeling. He's such a soft guy, too. Very calming when I met him. Even know, that moment in Ghost Love Score gives me shudders. I'll never have that feeling again. It was it's own unique experience. And I'll have another if I see them again and they play it. Much more powerful in person than seeing a live version on TH-cam of the song with Floor.
A special triumph of courage over adversity. Here are some lyrics from Song of Myself (Imaginareum) which I believe sum up Floor’s situation when she joined Nightwish back in 2012. "A midnight flight into Covington Woods" - Floor’s flight from Holland into the US and to Seattle. "A song of me a song in need” - Floor needed to rebuild her career and confidence after her burnout, Nightwish needed a singer.. FAST! “Of a Courageous Symphony” - it took a lot of courage for Floor to step onto that stage back in 2012. As she alluded to in her magnificent speech. I would be proud to speak as well as she did.
Thank you David for this clip. I hadn't seen it. Floor always shows what a sweetheart she is. Although being the best singer in the world, with a fantastic band as Nightwish, she is so humble, so human. What a special being she is...
David thank you for this, i loved it, that is how i know Floor is, she is always like that, always loving the fans, and always honest and her self.greetings from the Netherlands
Elämän Vettä Nice! Tuomas was such a soft and calming person to meet. When my heart was rushing a billion beats a second, his presence somehow made it.. calming.. I loved it. He truly noticed me throughout the show. Even saw me cry after Ghost Love Score. He gave a smile to it, knowing that it was such a powerful moving song to me. Especially with Floor singing the song, especially in the final moments when she takes it away. Even now, I get shudders from that night. And I know I'll never have that exact experience again..
A beard seeing a real angel in person, with pure unadulterated class! That only the most beautiful woman on the planet Earth, but Angelic vocal cords to match... So no floor, thank you. Oh how I love that beautiful goddess, and six foot of Pure Heaven
The flying Dutchwoman floor Jansen is the best thing to happen to this band. Such a lovely story fully documented in the film "PLEASE LEARN THE SETLIST IN 48 HOURS" th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html
@@davidvkimball American public is sadly lacking in historical terms, they simply have no clue what sciences are about. They see it in religious terms, not in facts.
@@davidvkimball I have noticed more and more people just aren't going out to see bands like they used to, unless they're pop or country or of course Metallica or GNR. It's kind of a weird time. For a band like NightWish to play a bigger venue here they'd have to do an actual tour w/ other bands.. For example if they did a full N. American tour w say: Theocracy, Queensryche, Dream Theater then that would probably attract more people to a stadium or pavilion. It's sad. I remember back in the day there was a show at the local arena 2-3 times a week it seemed like. Now not very many.. most bands are playing clubs or small theaters anymore.. I hate it.
@@davidvkimball The next time they are in the Denver area, I wish they could play at Redrocks Amphitheater (seating for 9.5K). It woulds be wonderful to see a Nightwish concert under the stars.
The Americans simply don't like the band, not like in South America or Europe. American culture is too different, and the majority of them either don't have the patience or the mental capacity to understand the lyrics. And the amount of money put into the shows needs a return of investment. And they don't want to burn themselves out with the impossible demands of the public the moment the mainstream media get their claws into them.
Interesting you just touched upon a subject matter which was the prime reason for the widening rift with the band and Tarja in the past. Tarja didn’t want to sing in these small venues (USA) as she wanted to rest and preserve her voice, she thought the money they earn from these small shows was not worth it. That is why Tuomas blamed her for being greedy when he fired her.
Floor nails both Annette and Tarja songs! But she has her own voice as well which makes her incredibly fun to listen to no matter what song she sings.

Floor Jansen was in Seattle???? I'm going to be kicking myself for the rest of my life for not knowing about Floor and Nightwish at that time.
Yeah they've toured and been to Seattle several times in the last 8 years. Maybe just twice? And I got to see them both times!
