- Floor Jansen sings Lauretta's Aria, O Mio Babbino Caro from Giacomo Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi in a Dutch Television Program called 'De Tiende van Tijl', broadcasted on January 2nd 2013. This video includes a short interview with the host of the show Tijl Beckand. With English subtitles for all the Floor and Nightwish fans to enjoy!
She has sung the same Aria in the same program in August 2010 and it is so great to hear how she has improved and how her lyrical voice has matured. Floor has proven that she has a wonderful Soprano voice just as Tarja has.

I'm a trained Opera singer myself and three of my teachers sang with Maria Callas. But I believe perfectionism killed Opera. Floor is doing wonderfully and if only more classical singers would be humans of flesh and blood like Floor is, then Opera would still be popular. However Floor has chosen well to sing in Metal bands even though she is a trained classical singer. The vast number of Floor and Nightwish fans proves it. Without people like Floor and Tuomas, Opera would be dead and forgotten.

Let´s not forget her predecessor,- Nightwish´original singer the classical soprano Tarja Turunen.
Floor has had classical training and can sing in a classical lieder style,- Tarja was a through and through classical opera singer and can sing actual Bel Canto,- there is a difference.

Also, Therion and epica are one of the metal bands that helped the symphonic (opera singing) metal genre alive

Believe it or not, but there are more metal bands per capita on Finland than on any other country. The country, that holds the second place is Sweden with only half of what we have in Finland! And every Finnish band that has been successful outside Finland has either been a hard rock or metal band!

Metal is a lot more mainstream in Europe altogether. Genres like country, rap/hip hop, and pop are a lot bigger in America but relatively nonexistent elsewhere. Of course, pop is big in Korea and Britain, but not too many other places.

She is truly a one of a kind person. The more I learn about her the more awesome her story is. How many people can be in a heavy metal band and sing opera flawlessly. How many people can sing recorded albums and sing them live even better?

Floor is an amazing singer... ever since nightwish dismissed Tarja i thought the band "lost" something, but with Floor they got that "something" back... with interests! I enjoy her voice even more than i do Tarja´s, amazing woman. And not that it matters, with a voice and personality like that, but she´s not that bad to watch either... wow

In my opinion, Nihtwish found the way to Heaven, an angel can lead them. She is amazing, she is beautiful, hot, sexy, smart. She know at least three languages I guess. She is a great metal queen singer. Really, I fall in love with her.

I just love the expressions on the faces of these opera fans when they're showing her singing metal. I went through that same thing when I was playing the bassoon in an orchestra, but was into metal, and all the violin players were all "classical".

If that is the same outfit she wore during the Showtime, Storytime concert it was coming undone at one point around her chest. (And no I wasn't staring at her boobs, I'm just observant like that.) I guess the outfit couldn't contain her awesomeness lol. I kept hoping a crew/band member would notice and discreetly try and do it up for her before she popped out completely. While I don't think any of us would have minded it would of been embarrassing for her.

I always laugh my ass off when random youtube trolls insist Floor is a bad singer and can't sing opera like Tarja. No bitches, she doesn't sing opera like Tarja. She sings opera arias that Maria Callas and the best REAL opera singers have sung. That said, this video makes me wonder why Tuomas didn't use Floor's lyrical/operatic style more, both on tour and on record. She could easily sing Wishmaster, The Siren, and some of the most emblematic and heavily symphonic NW stuff. I understand he's been leaning towards a more contemporary style for the last 10 years, but still....this is vocal gold. He has an amazingly versatile vocalist.

Okay, one month later: yes unfortunately there is a civil war among Nightwish fans. And most fans active in TH-cam at the moment seem to be Floor's fans, and unfortunately I have to say they are very toxic and belittling towards Tarja and Anette. Zealous Floor fans at the moment are the worst thing in the Nightwish fandom.
How can anyone think she is inferior ? Different, yes, more in a rock style performance with Nightwish if you compare to Tarja. But the term "inferior" is zillion light years away from Floor.
@@Aurinkohirvi Well, this is in a way understandable. Tarja is unique, and gave the band it's original touch, and Anette.... is Anette. But Floor comes in like a genie out of a bottle, saves the day, and gives band a whole new dimension, which will last. The Wacken 2013 live is a good illustration of this. She put Ghost Love Score at a level of artistry which is eerie. Not to mention the way she deals with the rest of the repertoire, and her on-stage presence.
So people are completely bewitched, and therefor irrational in their criticism of Tarja, which will remain legendary. Vintage Nightwish ages well. But right, now, as far as the stage performances are concerned, they are on another planet.
And now, thanks to Beste Zangers, the people of Holland all know about Floor. ha ha. And thanks to Floor, the world knows about Beste Zangers.

This guy knows what he's talking about! Also, though Tarja had very good stage presence, much of her live singing was terribly unsupported and resulted in ridiculously wide vibrato. Floor is a better trained singer and overall, the best live.

You and all the other Floor fans are very welcome! Usually we Dutch people are very down to earth and modest, but I think Floor deserves it to be admired for her talent and beauty. So whether she stays with her band Revamp or with Nightwish or with both: keep on shining and rocking Floor! We all love you!

Hey, I agree that she looks nicer with less make-up, but you know, when one performs in front of 80,000 people one must acentuate one's features a bit :D The same goes for clothes, I'm sure she'd never go shopping for bread in that awesome leather wear, but it has its place on stage.
