Did the hose thing 5yrs straight on a Lasko labeled version of the Air King 9960. That thing was a beast. Would love to use hose on my U15617, but I doubt it would survive. Performs almost as well as my old 9960, but its build quality isn't even close.

My Lasko is a Mod. 4900 and it is yellow and black with a chrome handle, but it is the same fan. My motor is entirely closed. This is a great fan. I saw an all-black one at Samsclub, but felt like thin plastic. Thanks for the video, I had been putting off cleaning it for a long time.

I have this exact fan and used your instructions to take apart, clean and put back together.
      Here is my problem/issue....
Once I put the fan back together everything was working fine. However, something is not right, I have done something incorrectly.
Once I turn on the fan the turbine (while spinning) now makes a sound as if something could be loose and I can not figure it out.
I wondered if you could help me with figuring out what is causing the sound as though something were loose.

@@lindasheffield5437 Sorry to hear that. Did you screw the Axis Nut back properly? Not so hard, but only that it is firmly tightened.
Or else, does your fan gives you the impression of just having 1 speed despite moving it from 1 to 3?

I own two Lasko U15720 model fans, with several security screws. Makes one wonder if they did this to prevent the average person from being able to open it up in order to clean the internal components of their fans--these fans don't cool as well when the blower wheel is covered with dust and gunk--perhaps so owners are forced to buy a new one. Earlier this week someone gave me another one of these fans because it has a broken blower wheel. Thanks to this video, I now know how to fix it and will soon have three of these fans to cool off my home.

Since purchasing it, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQuBMI30VhO6fDed6NOsYftsoNa8x0UZ5 this fan is a trustworthy companion during the hot nights in Texas for me. The sleep mode is really quiet and gives you smooth wind to cool down. At full speed the fan is quite noisy but also very strong.Only weird thing is that if there is a draught from another fan, the sleep mode would speed up occasionally (getting a bit louder, probably to level 2 out of 4). This never happened so far when I used only this fan though.

@@spartan.HOCOPOG_0011 I don't understand, but I did eventually get it open and find that the turbine housing was cracked straight across the entire surface, however I also figured out that, if you tighten everything up extremely, extremely tight, including all chassis screws, the housing does not appear to be further compromised by stress loading and does not critically fail or appear likely to do so, given the overall strength of the housing unit as a whole. I'll update later if it fails. Right now it is running like new.

I have basically the same fan but my high speed went out! Speeds 1 and 2 both still work and was wondering if it is a cheap fix or should I get a new one , I am not afraid to tear it down and will get back together correctly but wondering if it is A fuse link bad switch or faulty motor?

Hello. Please try to put out your turbine, spin it 180° and put it back again in place.
This is a very common problem when we put our turbine on the wrong side / direction.
      Thank you.

@@garyhockensmith2471 Sorry to hear that. Usually they dont lose 1 speed like that. Sounds to me like a wire disconnected from a little junction box it has next to the turbine, on the opposite side from where you start dissasembling the fan.

I want to replace the speed selector with a ZOOZ Z-WAVE PLUS S2 MULTIRELAY ZEN16 WITH 3 DRY CONTACT RELAYS. Any suggestions as to how to get to and remove the switch. That way I can remotely control it with voice via Hubitat and Google Assistant or Alexa.

So, would you recommend this model? I've had various different Lasko utility fans over the years, and what I've noticed is that most of them are designed to be impossible to adequately disassemble. I've only had one that you could completely take apart and clean, and I can't find that model anywhere these days. That's what drew me to your video, that you had one that was able to be taken apart for a good cleaning. They get so gunked up with pet hair and dust after continued use that I consider it a "must have" feature to be able to take them apart for cleaning. But how's the noise level? Is it good and powerful without being too noisy?

Hello my friend, this utilities fan are kind of noisy. The little red one, the x-blower, that I clean in my other video, has less power and does a little less noise. However, I would stick to the black/gray fan 'cus of its power, performance and better dust protection in the speed control & brain of the fan. But it's up to you. Good luck buddy.

I can't take the heat and have tried many kinds of fans. This is by FAR the best. Yes, a little noisy but you can't argue with the power, plus it has two outlets in it! This is the only fan I'll ever buy again

You can use the inverse function of any ridgid vaccum cleaner (blower) or even the pump of a mattress will give you acceptable cleaning, if you happen to have one .
