Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been reportedly returning any new study permit applications to students received since Jan 23, and refunding application fees. New processing rules to be in place on or before March 31. Master’s or PhD students can still apply.
For higher populated provinces like Ontario a two year 50% cap (reduction) in study permit (possibly more) is being launched. Less populated provinces, 35%. Certain students are cap-exempt, i.e. master’s or PhD students. British Columbia is not accepting any international students (a few exceptions).
International students (minus a few exceptions) will need to attach a "provincial attestation" to their study permit. This letter confirms the province's or territory's support for the international student (via followed regulations and proven authentic documents).
Students, per year, need to show they have $21,000 in savings (after their tuition is paid plus roundtrip travel costs). Where its THEIR money that THEY can actually use for THEMSELVES while studying in Canada.
No work permit for spouses. Unless the student is exempt (for specific reasons).
Hence eliminating many contract marriages (i.e. IELTS spouse).
Student's work permit expires when their class program ends.
Students who’ve completed master’s programs will soon be able to get three-year PGWPs.
Study permit RENEWALS (and their family member who ALREADY holds a permit) are among the groups exempt from Canada’s new cap.
Prediction: beginning May 1st, 2024, international students will be allowed to work between 20 to 30 hrs (not 40 hrs).
PRIVATE colleges are being investigated (including looking for foreign interference). Some will be banned from operating. Less deceitful agents cashing in too. Canada has asked oversea governments to prevent “ghost consulting”.
Canadian schools are no longer to be used as a backdoor entry for people solely wanting PR. Plus not used by those planning on staying in Canada when disqualified. Plus less bad actors milking the system for cash (hurting students). Especially when many countries (including Canada) are dealing with a major housing crisis not seen in most lifetimes due to many reasons (including mass migration i.e., asylum seekers).
Canada is in the top 10 for peaceful trustworthy countries and Canadians want it to stay that way for students, etc..

There was always a limited number of persons that would be invited. It was never a “free for all”. Everyone can’t come in. Those who chose to school, that was their choice…PR wasn’t and isn’t promised. Get your score up/ remain competitive or find another country to immigrate to.

    • @ariellegibson
      @ariellegibson 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It’s both. They definitely have to reform the system, however the main point of express entry was to invite “the best”. That was always the point. If any and everybody could come in, they would have. Canada has to be what is best for them and that is why they are turning to category base and French speaking people. If someone CHOOSES that they still want to immigrate to Canada they will make the necessary adjustments. Nobody is forcing a gun to anybody’s head to immigrate. It’s all a choice.

    Hi Kubeir Sir,
I am curious why hasn't IRCC taken action against social media influencers deviating from their role as educators on Canadian life and education to offering unauthorized immigration advice and 'Easy PR Hacks,' charging for consultations without proper qualifications? A lot of the mess in the Canadian Immigration system is a direct consequence of these TH-cam ninja's, in addition to dodgy overseas consultants.
How does IRCC plan to address this growing menace?

Kubeir, I’m a big fan of your channel. Thank you for guiding me all the way.
Just a small note, you are mentioning all these nationalities, yet you seem to be ignoring the elephant in the room. There is mo country in the world, even Canada , will accept 60% +of there immigrants to be coming from one country only. If the system hasn’t been abused by our brothers and sisters from India, I can guarantee you, there will be no funny business from the Feds.
And I keep hearing that Indians are contributing to the economy and that Canada is lucky to have them. NO. Thats not accurate at all. Working at Tim Hortons, Walmart, or any $15/hr job is mot a contribution, not even to the CRA, especially when you are getting tax returns for low income. This is the sad reality unfortunately. Good luck to everyone and thank you again.
