- Monster lake trout truly are a special species. In this full fledged lake trout fishing movie we're in search of a record breaking lake trout. Our guide Todd Logan claims the new Oregon State record will be caught very soon. A few anglers have gotten close, but the current record is held by Ken Erickson weighing in at 40 lb 8 oz. caught in 1984. In this movie we dubbed "The Hunt" we spend 4 days in search of the one. Joan that is Odell lake in Oregon. Beautiful area. But gets real windy in the afternoons up there. It helps if you have a guide with all the special equipment to fish for the lakers. Todd is the best, his boat can handle handicap people and he is so good with them.
Did lots of hard water fishing on Lake Superior for lake trout this year and they put up such a fight! I love it

I live in Northern Ontario Canada. We hooked a monster once and fought him for 1 hour twenty minutes before losing him just out of sight. Probably would have blown world record apart, our setup usually brought in 20 lb class in 5 minutes or so. Massive air bubbles were coming up so we were sure it was a laker. Still chase that fish yearly.
Nice , well hopefully you can get out and get on them .. We haven't even been able to get out and fish for years so basically have to watch videos til the state I'm in lets people leave there town area to fish.. true story New York State

Yes, it was a thrill on my end watching you guys. I kept hope for that 25, 30# to come up. And I don't see you keeping many fish. You each should have brought one home. I've watched all your videos, but I'm in TN with a lake in my backyard. We have a few lakes with large lake trout but haven't been fortunate to go hunt them yet love you all

I'm a little dense here and I'd like to request something.
I feel would be beneficial for this series of videos, to have arrows pointing to the exact marks on the fish finders identifying the different elements displayed. This would make it easy for simpleton's like me to better understand what is appearing on the screens.

We do that here in lake Michigan along the edge of the Piers in the fall. In about 10 feet of water.

Me and my buddy have caught a bunch over 20#, a few over 30#, and at least one pushing 40#
Cool fish, I have had a few fight pretty good. One actually fraught like a bass was weird. We had one monster that really pulled. Of course that one broke off. We never have them break off. Would like to have known the weight. Speculation based off all the big ones we have caught is 40# minimum. Max, who freaking knows
I have to admit, I almost crapped myself the first time I hauled in a Laker the size of the Kings we used to take on the Rogue River in So. Oregon. Come to Utah/Wyoming and fish for the trophy trout in Flaming Gorge. The record is just shy of 60lbs, and the lake has a huge diversity of fish; Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Kokanee... BIG Kokanee, Smallmouth Bass, Catfish, Burbot. Let us know when you are coming, and we will make sure you hook up with great anglers from around the area.
I always say a big lake trout will go on a run similar to a tuna. Those fish just don’t get tired

Yea we have big lakers out in my state area in certain parts but they haven't initialized free up for some to actually going fishing in years because they were busy focusing on creating other issues ... What lakes are best out that way ?
The yellow machine on rail at 55.27 is a machine called a 6700 tamper,I built them for 32 years. In ludington michigan,at the mouth of the P.M. river. Just a few steelhead and salmon in there...

Olympic Peninsula? I know it’s catch
release there so you couldn’t do a catch
& cook but there are some big fish in there including the big Beardslee trout.
Plus the Sol Duc River is just 15-20 min
away & is an excellent “Steelie “ river

My buddy and I won the 2020 Odell Mack tournament with a 25.5# fish last year. When I saw the train in this video I realized it was Odell.
Crazy. I think Billie Chinook has Lakers in it? I've never got one but may book a trip for my father and brothers
No Lakers in LBC, but it ts one of the few places in the country that has enough Bull trout to allow retention of a Bull. The bulls are not quite as big as these Lakers, but 10-15 pounds is not uncommon.
So much better the bass fishing. Flaming gorge Utah side has monsters lake trout, Wyoming side has monsters kokanee, and some of the coolest scenery around.
The largest caught on a rod and reel according to the IGFA was 72 pounds (33 kg), caught in Great Bear Lake in 1995 with a length of 59 inches (150 cm).
