I have said it so many times at this point that we don't consume much of these cash crops , I will encourage Africans to retreat from all these cash crops as for now and and let us concentrate with what we can consume then later if the west can't have, they will pay us well to cultivate it.

Thank you for speaking my mind. Producing cocoa and being at the bottom of the value chain, yet importing rice.
As Kwadwo Sheldon will say, '' Mind borsting ''.

That's fine but we need to structure the marketing channels and storage facilities first. We don't want to find ourselves in situations were farmers spend so much to produce and the crops go bad in the farms. These legacy crops are grown because, it is one of those crops which isn't hard to market. So we need to put hands together and build a system.

Cocoa is profitable...when proper management is applied
Cocoa farming is just for 6 month
    June to December.
Why January to June... engage in different activities

I am among the few africans that suggest to end cocoa farming in Africa for other crops because cocoa takes too much land for farming for a very small yield . Here is an example why we should stop cocoa farming , Ivory coast produce more than 2 millions ton of cocoa using 3.3 millions of hectares while Spain produce 3 millions ton of citrus using 275,000 hectares of land . Now do you understand why southern european countries will never farm cocoa on their land despite having a favourable weather to grow cocoa ? Pay attention to the quantity of land we are wasting just for that stupid crop !! or divide production by the land used to have a better picture why only stupid people will continue promoting that crop..
