Ophelia the storm that could never make up its own mind. As I recall she never made landfall despite how close she came a bunch of times as she stalled and miandered off the coast
I think they didn't play the storm alert because back in 2005 they only played it when it was a major hurricane (cat 3 or higher) threatening land...for example the only times they played it in '05 was during Katrina, Rita, and Wilma all of which were category 3's at landfall.
Actually, the winds peaked around 70 mph in Wilmington (10 miles inland), and reached over 80 mph at Wrightsville Beach on the coast, where I intercepted the storm. The winds were up to 90 mph in gusts when I intercepted Ophelia in Morehead City, N.C. near the Outer Banks later that nighht.
@wiiluigi1998 i know katrina was a cat 5 from 6am aug 28th to 1am aug 29th...katrina made its 2nd landfall about 25 miles west of where i live...I kept up with it!
+Mirko Mazzoni Oh yeah they are usually shown during the approach of a hurricane. They are basically messages filled with information that the local emergency management puts out and is picked up by The Weather Channel and broadcast during local on the 8s. I have two more videos with emergency management bulletins if you want to check them out, one during Hurricane Katrina th-cam.com/video/NZeK6_lgJmc/w-d-xo.html and one during Hurricane Gustav th-cam.com/video/u9TdA-c-uH4/w-d-xo.html. I also saw one on here from Hurricane Ike, but I did not record this video th-cam.com/video/0LWBqJoHGIY/w-d-xo.html
Hey Asian...Noone here said they were "scared" of a 40 mph wind. That being said, it is important to note that people have been killed by falling tress in winds less than Hurricane force. By the time HF winds get to your area, trees will come down due to the saturated ground from the torrential tropical rainfall that preceeds those winds. Simply put, HF conditions are very significant and can be life threatening.
I am commenting #BringBackDislikes on every unique TH-cam video that I watch for the rest of 2024, regardless of if I actually dislike the video or not. This is video 4507.
lolz u ppl that live in the beac hare afraid of 40 mph wind? PLEASE!! I'm not scared!! The highest widns ive been was about 70 mph during a severe thunderstorm!

Cool, I've never heard that narration in my area in NYC, but I will soon : (
Storm wasn't half as big as Irene in terms of size. Also it wasn't nearly as devastating as hurricane/TS Irene was
@socool775 exactly but Katrina happened before Ophelia...Katrina was in Aug. 2005, Ophelia was two weeks later in Sept. 2005

Well that's always great to see on your local radar, lol.
Wow, you were SOO CLOSE to the Eye,
What time did the emergency management bulletin start
No, it was just that the music hadn't debuted yet. It debuted for Katrina.
this was after Katrina as the storm names are in alphabetical order and O comes way after K.
Oh wow, not sure how I missed that detail. Scratch that.
And only 2 BEEPS?
What song is this?
Edit: its for the movies by lenny Marcus
Hey how long were you without power after Katrina? And how was the experience?
Five and a half weeks. The Storm hit on Aug. 29th and I got power back on Oct. 7. It sucked when I was home so I spent most of the time at work.

Surely this Ophelia was nothing like Ophelia from Hamlet.

How come the Weather Channel didn't use the song "Eye of the Storm" for this forecast like they did with Katrina?
Only category 3 or above.
Ouch! 40-60 MPH winds?
Eric H. It could be worse. Some hurricanes reach 200+ mph wind speeds

Please welcome Katrina's wannabe.
Michael Rowe I wouldn’t call it a Katrina wannabe; it was just a weak hurricane that decided to stall to cause max damage. Like Harvey.
slow moving
